Question:	How much water does the system use to flush all the contaminants. My present system uses 3/4 of a gallon to produce 1 gallon of clean water
Answer:	well you could filter salt water with it, but it still wouldn't be potable to humans =)
Question:	Is it possible to add uv light to this system? how much would it cost
Answer:	You'll have to go on the data sheet from the manufacturer on the filter fiber diameter since no consumer can reasonably measure the filter tube diameters. And you'll have to do research on bad virus sizes to determine if those viruses will be blocked. But I'll say as a consumer of this filter over twelve days on the trail, serving 4 people (48 people-days) on the AT, no gastro-issues. And the filtering flow rate is amazingly fast.
Question:	Does this system come with a faucet or must that be ordered additionally
Answer:	Everything that you see illustrated. There are two reservoirs, the filter and the hose. The only thing not included is the optional carbon filter which isn't neccessary. If you do opt to purchase the carbon filter, keep in mind that it slows down the filtration time drastically.

Answer:	No, but it is surprisingly very long compared to others that I have seen.

Answer:	This will help filter out sand, as it comes with a 5 micron sediment filter. Well water in general it will help with taste and odor. If you have iron issues we recommend looking at our WF iron series systems instead.

The WGB22BM whole house filtration system is an ideal inch point of entry" filtration system for cleaning up well water. Unlike inch point of use" systems (like reverse osmosis systems) that are installed to Supply water to a specific faucet, the WGB22BM filters your water from the source. This means water from every output in your home will have passed through the two filtration stages of the WGB22BM. So what exactly do these two stages of filtration offer used as the first stage of defense on the system, the stage 1 housing holds a micron CTO coconut shell carbon block filter. Block carbon is more effective than other forms of carbon in that it is finely ground up carbon packed into a solidified block. This means they have a higher density than other types of carbon filters, and are therefore more effective in removing their targeted contaminants. Question:	Why would the filters be installed afer the well's pressure tank, if Iron and Manganese damages the pressure tank
Answer:	I didn’t use the filtration for well water however as near as I can tell the pressure tanks have a rubber bladder which I suspect is impervious to just about any chemicals. I would want the filtration on the last stage of the water before it is consumed. I might also assume that anything that is leached out by the pressure tank and inner bladder, would then be filtered. I’m certainly no water expert so I would take my assumptions advisedly.
Question:	I have a lot of silt and sand in my well water. How often will I need to replace the filters
Answer:	I have similar situation. Use a spin down filter (e.g., Russo with 250 mesh) in front of this filter to make this one last longer. I get 3-6 months but I change before pressure drop occurs.

Q: With this whole house system, do I still need to install a water softener if my water is very hard?

A: Yes, a water softener is needed if your source water has a high level of hardness, usually with TDS higher than 700 PPM. Hard water can reduce the lifespan of whole house water filter cartridges. The harder the water, the greater amount of scale buildup occurs, and the sooner the filters get clogged.

This whole house water filter can remove up to 95% of sediment, chlorine, rust, pesticides, herbicides, industrial solvents, VOCs, and various other contaminants that a regular water softener can't, although it does not soften your water. It is recommended that you install this WGB22B series whole house system after your water softener to achieve optimal performance if you have hard water.

To determine which product best suits your needs, it is recommended that you get a professional water test done prior to purchase to identify the main issue of your source water.

Question:	Is this made in the USA
Answer:	I do not know. If I were home I could check as I bought a box of 4. We are traveling in our motor home and won't be home until May1. I know that it works very well. They are large as it is for a whole house system. Mine last me 2 years. They recommend changing every year. Maybe the city water makeup makes a difference. I wouldn't be afraid to try it for more than a year. I have an acquaintance who went 7 years as he thought they were ok as long as the water quality seemed ok. When he found out they should be changed more often, he couldn't find one in places close by. He knew I had the same system and asked if I had one and I did. I took it over to him. I helped him change the filter. I must say that it definitely was time to change. He did say that his water pressure seemed to be a little less than normal. This made sense as the filter was kind of gunky. He did call the company to see if the "medium" in the softener would still be ok and they said yes. I ordered mine on line as our small town hardware and plumbing store does not carry them.

Question:	Terrible Water Pressure drop, plastic ring in 3rd cylinder, why
Answer:	I had a similar problem with the KDF filter(2nd cylinder). I'm a plumber and realized immediately that the filter was bad. I called customer service and they diagnosed over phone and sent out a new set right away. No more problem! Make sure you install a bypass pipe with any system.

Question:	Does this filter remove hormones
Answer:	The answer "ROES-50 system uses a high quality, .0001 micron Reverse Osmosis membrane and 3 carbon filters so it is designed to remove high levels of hormones and pharmaceutical drugs from water" is troublesome. Terms like "high quality" and "high levels" are arbitrary, and it's a safe bet people don't want arbitrary amounts of contaminants removed.
Question:	Hi apec, i see your offshore imitator is offering transparent 1st stage filter housings, why don't you offer one as well
Answer:	I bought the ROES-50 RO system in January 2016 and for the most part it has been great. Bought the pump to go with it as well as an auxiliary accumulator tank to use in addition to the smaller bladder tank that comes with the system so we can draw a couple of gallons of RO water at near full pressure at one go (set to 60 psi), and have the output plumbed to the sink faucet and two refrigerators with ice makers and water dispensers. I say all of this to say that I change the filters quite a bit and that it would be nice to be able to see the condition of the filters without having to shut off the supply from the house plumbing, and shut off both of the pressure tank valves as well as the system backfeed valve I installed just to get a look at the filters. I have a well and have two of the "dreaded" clear Whirlpool whole home water filter units, one at point of entry before the well bladder tank, and one after my water softener system and before my UV sterilizer, both of which have been in service for 18 years without issue. Everything is installed in my utility room on the wall for easy access, and I replace the O-rings in the filter housings about every third filter change and wash the housings out with a bleach solution, rinse them well and lubricate the O-rings with silicone grease when installing new filters every time I change a filter, and never ever tighten any of them tighter than hand tight unless there is a drip, but I can't recall there ever being one. I don't understand why people have filter housings break unless they are being over tightened, installed in a harsh environment exposed to the elements, or somewhere where they are subject to being hit with things and getting damaged physically, or in direct sunlight and subjected to UV radiation. Therefore I wish there was an option to purchase clear housings for the ROES-50 filters in order to make proper maintenance as easy as the rest of my system, because other than that, the only complaint I have with the ROES-50 is that the white bladder tank that came with it leaks air and I have to repressurize it about every six months. The larger blue auxiliary tank I bought has yet to need to be repressurized.

Question:	How important is a water test before chosing a filter system. And is rust also called iron eating bacteria
Answer:	Rust is not iron eating bacteria. Rust is ferric oxide, which is just iron combined with oxygen. Sulfur smells from iron rich water typically come from your water heater. The bacteria thrive on the metals in sacrificial anode rod in your water heater. Once the bacteria get in the water heater, you will need a powered anode rod and an iron removing system to fix the problem. For anyone on a well with iron, I recommend the following: 1) Get a powered anode rod to replace your sacrificial anode rode in your water heater. Do the chlorine or peroxide disinfection of the heater when installing to kill the existing bacteria. 2) Get this system. You may need to use an iron reducing filter in the third canister instead of a second carbon filter if your water softener isn’t reducing your iron to 0 parts per million, and put this system after the softener using iron reducing salt. 3) replace the filters as recommended without delay. 4) add a UV light sterilizer after these filters. These steps will immediately remove the sulfur and iron smell as the bacteria won’t have iron to eat, or be sustained from the magnesium in the standard anode rod in the water heater. My water went from cloudy brown and smelly to crystal clear perfection after doing this fix.

Question:	Anybody know the maximum flow rate in gallons per minute and/or the pressure drop across this (assuming new filters and 50 psi head pressure
Answer:	Depends on the filters used, pipe size and how it was installed. If you just want to know if you will have enough pressure to shower and use laundry machine or dishwasher. It will be fine as long as you don't use smaller than 3/4 inch supply in and out of this. I'd consider using pex if you want the best flow due to having much less fittings and elbows. I would say at minimum 5- 10 GPM. Hope this helps.
Question:	Does this water filter system filter Calcium
Answer:	The next model up in price range claims to remove scale and the details of that product shows it filters with poly-phosphate (scale remover) so $30 more for that extra - might be worth it as long as your’e not on well water.

The WGB22B-PB whole house filtration system is a great "point of entry" filtration system for cleaning up well water. Unlike "point of use" systems (like reverse osmosis systems) that are installed to supply water to a specific faucet, the WGB22B-PB filters your water from the source. This means water from every output in your home will have passed through the two filtration stages of the WGB22B-PB. So what exactly do these two stages of filtration offer? The first stage of the WGB22B-PB houses a 5-micron CTO coconut shell carbon block filter. Block carbon is more effective than other forms of carbon in that it is finely ground up carbon packed into a solidified block. This means they have a higher density than other types of carbon filters, and are therefore more effective in removing their targeted contaminants. The carbon block filter knocks out bad tastes and odors, removes up to 99% of chlorine from the water, and is highly effective on organic chemicals (VOCs) like pesticides, herbicides, and industrial chemicals. The second stage of the WGB22B-PB houses an iron and lead reducing filter. The FCRC25B iron and lead reducing filter is only included with the WGB22B-PB (and the WGB32B-PB), as it is not needed for most municipal water supplies that the WGB22B targets. Answer:	Not sure on the rating , but I had our water tested after I installed the system and had 0 ppm for lead

Q: With this whole house system, do I still need to install a water softener if my water is very hard?

A: Yes, a water softener is needed if your source water has a high level of hardness, usually with TDS higher than 700 PPM. Hard water can reduce the lifespan of whole house water filter cartridges. The harder the water, the greater amount of scale buildup occurs, and the sooner the filters get clogged.

This whole house water filter can remove up to 95% of sediment, chlorine, rust, pesticides, herbicides, industrial solvents, VOCs, and various other contaminants that a regular water softener can't, although it does not soften your water. It is recommended that you install this WGB22B series whole house system after your water softener to achieve optimal performance if you have hard water.

Question:	What is the pressure drop across the filter? What kind of a flow can one expect? What if one has a couple of showers going simultaneously
Answer:	I am on city water, we get lots of calcium scale. So I am using a calcium filter right after the meter (to keep scale out of all my pipes) then a carbon under sink filter for taste. I don't care if my boiler or toilet water tastes good, but want better taste out of the sink, dishwasher, ect.
Question:	If the valve is in the 'off' or 'bypass' position can you change the filter without having water spray everywhere
Answer:	If you use the right Carbon filter with this housing, it will reduce lead. As sold here, it will not. In a water purification system for drinking water, you would want one prefilter stage (like this) and at least one carbon filter stage (this housing with a good carbon filter would work). Your flow rate, intended use, and other factors will affect which system you should choose. This is sold as a whole-house filter, not a drinking water system.

Answer:	Any standard 10" replacement cartridge can be used with this filter housing. The "Frequently Bought Together" section has a sample of filters available. I use a sentiment cartridge ahead of a charcoal cartridge (in 2 separate filter housings) to remove particulates and odors from my water. Works very well.
