Answer:	I am on city water, we get lots of calcium scale. So I am using a calcium filter right after the meter (to keep scale out of all my pipes) then a carbon under sink filter for taste. I don't care if my boiler or toilet water tastes good, but want better taste out of the sink, dishwasher, ect.

Answer:	If you use the right Carbon filter with this housing, it will reduce lead. As sold here, it will not. In a water purification system for drinking water, you would want one prefilter stage (like this) and at least one carbon filter stage (this housing with a good carbon filter would work). Your flow rate, intended use, and other factors will affect which system you should choose. This is sold as a whole-house filter, not a drinking water system.

Answer:	It uses the standard 10 inch filters that are pretty much universally available including Dupont, Culligan, Micronex, and many others.

Answer:	Any standard 10" replacement cartridge can be used with this filter housing. The "Frequently Bought Together" section has a sample of filters available. I use a sentiment cartridge ahead of a charcoal cartridge (in 2 separate filter housings) to remove particulates and odors from my water. Works very well.

Q: With this whole house system, do I still need to install a water softener if my water is very hard?

A: Yes, a water softener is needed if your source water has a high level of hardness, usually with TDS higher than 700 PPM. Hard water can reduce the lifespan of whole house water filter cartridges. The harder the water, the greater amount of scale buildup occurs, and the sooner the filters get clogged.

This whole house water filter can remove up to 95% of sediment, chlorine, rust, pesticides, herbicides, industrial solvents, VOCs, and various other contaminants that a regular water softener can't, although it does not soften your water. It is recommended that you install this WGB21B series whole house system after your water softener to achieve optimal performance if you have hard water.

To determine which product best suits your needs, it is recommended that you get a professional water test done prior to purchase to identify the main issue of your source water.

Can this system reduce TDS?

Please note that this Undersink Water Filtration System cannot reduce TDS. Not for hard water.

Terms like "high quality" and "high levels" are arbitrary, and it's a safe bet people don't want arbitrary amounts of contaminants removed.
Question:	Hi apec, i see your offshore imitator is offering transparent 1st stage filter housings, why don't you offer one as well
Answer:	I bought the ROES-50 RO system in January 2016 and for the most part it has been great. Bought the pump to go with it as well as an auxiliary accumulator tank to use in addition to the smaller bladder tank that comes with the system so we can draw a couple of gallons of RO water at near full pressure at one go (set to 60 psi), and have the output plumbed to the sink faucet and two refrigerators with ice makers and water dispensers. I say all of this to say that I change the filters quite a bit and that it would be nice to be able to see the condition of the filters without having to shut off the supply from the house plumbing, and shut off both of the pressure tank valves as well as the system backfeed valve I installed just to get a look at the filters. I have a well and have two of the "dreaded" clear Whirlpool whole home water filter units, one at point of entry before the well bladder tank, and one after my water softener system and before my UV sterilizer, both of which have been in service for 18 years without issue. Everything is installed in my utility room on the wall for easy access, and I replace the O-rings in the filter housings about every third filter change and wash the housings out with a bleach solution, rinse them well and lubricate the O-rings with silicone grease when installing new filters every time I change a filter, and never ever tighten any of them tighter than hand tight unless there is a drip, but I can't recall there ever being one. I don't understand why people have filter housings break unless they are being over tightened, installed in a harsh environment exposed to the elements, or somewhere where they are subject to being hit with things and getting damaged physically, or in direct sunlight and subjected to UV radiation. Therefore I wish there was an option to purchase clear housings for the ROES-50 filters in order to make proper maintenance as easy as the rest of my system, because other than that, the only complaint I have with the ROES-50 is that the white bladder tank that came with it leaks air and I have to repressurize it about every six months. The larger blue auxiliary tank I bought has yet to need to be repressurized.

Question:	what size are the inlets
Answer:	Inlet and outlet is 1" pipe threat which is 1.3 inches in diameter. Originally I tried to buy the Pentak big blue but they kept sending me 3/4 in pipe threads. In the end the Dupont unit is much higher quality and you could even use the 20 inch pentak sump with the dupont head. Dupont is the best of all worlds and you save money on filters. Works great.

Answer:	I am guessing you are going to go with some kind of iron filter. This filter is a beast. It is very well made better by far than Pentax. The blue container should prevent algae. By far the best value for you money. You will not be disappointed. You will be surprised. Give it a little shade from Direct sun. In Florida direct sun has a meaning all its own. I would put in a 4 x 4 post, attach it with the bracket and stick a little bonnet over it. You won't have any trouble with this at all. Also I read one of the other answers and the guy said it would take out the "minerals" ... LOL I suppose vitamins too! I have a small nursery and I clone plants. Our mineral and vitamin free water does just fine... go for it!

Answer:	There are several brands out there that make similar products. They are filters and would 99% or so the same - they filter water. You should focus on what types of filters this will hold. These hold a 4.5x10 inch filter either pleated or polyester and the purification level ranges from 50 micron to 1 micron. I use 2 20's in series to remove particles from the well and I am in the process of adding a third filter container to use a 1 micron filter. The DuPont product works very well in holding the filter and being sealed so long as you use the proper 'O' rings to seal it.

Answer:	Smart Flow Sensor Switch powers on/off UV light automatically by water flow, so it must be installed after the storage tank where water flow is high enough, if you install it before the storage tank the water flow will be to slow for the Sensor Switch to turn the light on.

Answer:	TWS is more powerful than ows. 55w compare to 40W. We normally suggest our customer install the OWS unit horizontally. Cause vertically installation might need extra support if the pipe is plastic. But that was not a problem for TWS system.

Answer:	As long as you protect it from freezing, it has to be plugged in, we have it installed inside. We are on a well, have a sediment filter, a carbon filter then the UV water purifier installed in the same line. Going to get a test kit and test the water for bacteria and see how well it does.

Answer:	They are different sizes. One is 3/4" pipe fittings the other 1" pipe fittings. Take different filter cartridges. Check the specs out one might filter different or more microns than the other but I don't know that without researching that from manufacturers specs.

Answer:	The one I have has a pressure relief for filter replacement and bleeding air once filter is replace.

Answer:	I used this on a well system. The way i new to replace the filter was if the filter had turned a dark grey color. For my use, this was approximately once per month. An average 5 micron filter is all you need, typically.

Answer:	The NSF 42 Certification in the User Manual does not help to answer this question. "The NSF/ANSI 401 addresses the ability of a water treatment device to remove up to 15 individual contaminants..." I think if you replace the rivet with a removable bolt or pin you could reverse both jaws for use as a spreader. The only problem I can foresee is the handle getting in the way if the span you're starting with is too narrow.
