| Answer: | Your product should be alright. The water filter is a closed container with a carbon insert, and a cap on to protect the interior. Wipe it off and it is ready to go. The air purifier works by pulling air through the material inside. It is easily protected by the cardboard packaging. You can wipe the dust off, and install it. Should not cause any problem. I did not recall the rattles. I happened to have the last one I replaced since I have not taken it to discard at the local environmental center yet. I shook it and it did rattle. Sounded like some miniature metal balls a bit smaller than the BBs you use to shoot in your Red Rider bb gun when you had a GREAT Christmas years ago. Go ahead and install it and mark your calendar to replace it again in one year. This is about the 14th time I have gone through the process and I think they are very good products. |

There could be an air bubble trapped in the filter or tube, to remove it, unscrew the end cap that is attached to the tube and filter (make sure you do not get water on the drinking water outlet), then screw the cap tight again and test the flow. 2. Use the included backwashing syringe to clear the filter, there might be much debris from turbid water slowing your flow. |

| Answer: | Jeffery - great question. An Epic water filter will filter about 200 gallons of water (Brita will do about 40). As the filter gets closer to the 200 gallons, it will get slower and slower at filtering water until it no longer passes water. That's when you know it is time for a new filter. Keep in mind, the more contaminated your water is, the shorter the life of the filter. On average, we are seeing filters last most customers between 4 and 6 months depending on usage and water quality. Personally, I like the fact that my filter gets slower over the life of the filter so that I know it is actually working. I had other brands in the past and they keep filtering water way past their expected life at almost the same rate and I always wondered if they worked. Thanks, Joel |

I know that these work on viruses, though some products offer an extra - Micro-Fine ceramic filter for extra assurance. Charcoal and 'hybrid type' filters with other elements besides just charcoal will remove most of 'heavy metals' from the water. My recollection was that this straw system did a pretty darn good job. If you are looking for one that you are going to use extensively and this is important for you, look into the Katadyn Hiker Pro. Did 14 days with it this summer and it was superb. This straw system lives in my emergency / earthquake kit, but I've used it camping and been happy with it. |

I went ahead and ordered the D 'medium' which is actually very NARROW. The shoes came and they just fit me with the laces all the way stretched out. That said, I like them anyway - they're light and the sole is solid. The box only says size 10.5 and No width letter. And they don't show the width letter on the shoe's label either. Good shoe, not great sizing.So, Zappo's / Amazon has some work to do to avoid confusion and returns, just stock the medium wides, please. And start labeling the shoes better. |

- Remove the upper chamber of the system
- Open the lid and unscrew the old water filter cartridges from the upper chamber
- Fill a clean container with clean water and soak the replacement water filter in the water for at least 30 minutes .Tilt the filter , while under water , so that any air bubbles can escape from both ends
- Remove the water filter from the water . Cover the holes with either your fingers or the blue caps that came with the filter , and shake the filter vigorously . Then tap them lightly on the counter to loosen any residual manufacturing dust
- Screw the new water filter onto the upper chamber
- Return the upper chamber to the system by placing it onto the lower chamber
- Fill the upper chamber with water and let it drain into the lower chamber . When the lower chamber is full , discard the first batch of water as it may contain residual manufacturing dust . The system is now ready for use

Perform the Red Dye Test
- Remove the upper container from your water filter system and pour out any water it contains
- REMOVE FLUORIDE FILTERS and set in a safe place
- Empty the lower container and set aside in a safe place
- Place an equal sized clear glass under each Black Filter Stem, to collect the filtered water
- Place the upper container on the clear glasses, making sure that the water that exits each filter drips into its own glass
- In a separate container, add one teaspoon of red food coloring for every gallon of water your upper chamber holds, and mix
- Pour the red tinted water into your upper chamber. Your Black Filters should be fully submerged. NEVER DROP DYE ONTO YOUR FILTERS.
- Allow the full batch of water to filter from the upper container into the glasses below
- Examine the water in each clear glass. If the filtered water has a pink or red tint this would indicate that the filter is not working properly, and has failed the test
- If the water in all the glasses is clear, your filters are functioning properly. Empty the top container of red water and clean before resuming normal filtering
