Answer:	Hello Anthony, These are charcoal filters. They do add healthy minerals to the water.

Answer:	Out of the carton. These berkey black elements require a thorough rinse under water rub with hands and brush with (designated new clean sink brush) seeing the black soot from manufacturing come off...thats what your tasting (like the top of someones roof shingle). Also a casual rinse through the exiting opening. Dont over pressure rinse these (the white floride filters are known to blow out and damage with violent pressure) cheers!
Question:	Do these fit in the travel berkey
Answer:	Absolutely, they will fit All Berkey Models.
Question:	How often do the filters need to be replaced
Answer:	Each filter can process 3000 gallons, so if you have 2 in your unit like we do, figure up what you use in a week or day and extrapolate. My family of 5 uses about 2.5 gal per day so about 900 gal/year, so (6000/900=6.67) about 6 years. Incidentally, you should follow the directions and clean the filters every month or so with new green scotch pads to remove the chemicals and lime it is filtering out that accumulate on the outside. That will restore faster flow if it has slowed.

Question:	Does this filter remove calcium and lime
Answer:	No, this cannot remove them.
Question:	How does this one compare to the camco water filter
Answer:	I use them to prevent water spots while washing vehicles. I didn't notice any difference in effectiveness there. I did notice a drop in pressure (compared to no filter) with the Amazon Basics one... need to switch back to camco to see if there's a difference (I simply don't remember). Both work equally well for removing hard water spots and have plenty of pressure. The Amazon one had a splash of black crud upon first usage (camco didn't).... but I know you're supposed to flush all of these before use.
Question:	Does this product remove Chlorine and / or Flourine
Answer:	It will remove much of the chlorine, however many municipality used chloramine these days which it will not remove. In order to remove flouride you must do reverse osmosis.

Answer:	The amount of gallons is good for will be effected tremendously by local water condition, we suggest solid service life will be 3 months. Hope it helps.

Question:	Does this filter remove hormones
Answer:	The answer "ROES-50 system uses a high quality, .0001 micron Reverse Osmosis membrane and 3 carbon filters so it is designed to remove high levels of hormones and pharmaceutical drugs from water" is troublesome. Terms like "high quality" and "high levels" are arbitrary, and it's a safe bet people don't want arbitrary amounts of contaminants removed.
Question:	Hi apec, i see your offshore imitator is offering transparent 1st stage filter housings, why don't you offer one as well
Answer:	I bought the ROES-50 RO system in January 2016 and for the most part it has been great. Bought the pump to go with it as well as an auxiliary accumulator tank to use in addition to the smaller bladder tank that comes with the system so we can draw a couple of gallons of RO water at near full pressure at one go (set to 60 psi), and have the output plumbed to the sink faucet and two refrigerators with ice makers and water dispensers. I say all of this to say that I change the filters quite a bit and that it would be nice to be able to see the condition of the filters without having to shut off the supply from the house plumbing, and shut off both of the pressure tank valves as well as the system backfeed valve I installed just to get a look at the filters. I have a well and have two of the "dreaded" clear Whirlpool whole home water filter units, one at point of entry before the well bladder tank, and one after my water softener system and before my UV sterilizer, both of which have been in service for 18 years without issue. Everything is installed in my utility room on the wall for easy access, and I replace the O-rings in the filter housings about every third filter change and wash the housings out with a bleach solution, rinse them well and lubricate the O-rings with silicone grease when installing new filters every time I change a filter, and never ever tighten any of them tighter than hand tight unless there is a drip, but I can't recall there ever being one. I don't understand why people have filter housings break unless they are being over tightened, installed in a harsh environment exposed to the elements, or somewhere where they are subject to being hit with things and getting damaged physically, or in direct sunlight and subjected to UV radiation. Therefore I wish there was an option to purchase clear housings for the ROES-50 filters in order to make proper maintenance as easy as the rest of my system, because other than that, the only complaint I have with the ROES-50 is that the white bladder tank that came with it leaks air and I have to repressurize it about every six months. The larger blue auxiliary tank I bought has yet to need to be repressurized.

Question:	What is the shelf life of these replacement filters
Answer:	I'm not sure about the shelf life. Never thought about it and you bring up a good point. I usually buy the 8 or 12 pack because we need to change out the filters every three weeks. I actually have two large, 23 cup dispensers. One is in the refrigerator, and other is left out for cooking, so we go through them quickly. One thing about the one not in the refrigerator - it does start to develop a moldy smell, I suppose from the moist condition of the filter and room temperature combined. I wash it out regularly as a result. I read other reviews stating the same problem with the larger dispensers that are left out of the refrigerator, so I suspect the problem is universal and not specific to this product. Question:	I've been reading about unsealed filters. Are filters purchased through ZeroWater via Amazon sealed and therefore, uncontaminated
Answer:	i ordered a 4 pack of filters. When I opened the sealed white plastic wrap, and opened the top, the filter was WET...I decided to put it on my unit and use it anyway, but tested it before consumed..the reading was "69"...I am returning the entire 4 filters and will deal only with zero water company directly.

Question:	how many months doest it work by one filter
Answer:	As Leaser states below, it depends on the quality of water you start with. I use mine at work, so I only run about a gallon a day through it, five days a week. The tap water measures about 180-200 ppm on the meter, and it lasts me about 2 months per filter, around 40-50 gallons, I would estimate.
