13 best composting toilet size

Composting toilets come in various sizes to accommodate different settings and user needs. The size of a composting toilet can depend on factors such as the type of installation, the number of users, and the available space. Here's an overview of composting toilet sizes in the context of bathroom fixtures:

  1. Compact Composting Toilets:

    • These toilets are designed to be space-efficient and are typically smaller in size compared to traditional flush toilets.
    • Compact composting toilets are suitable for small bathrooms, cabins, RVs, boats, or tiny houses where space is limited.
    • They often have a smaller composting chamber and may require more frequent maintenance.
  2. Standard-Sized Composting Toilets:

    • Standard-sized composting toilets are similar in dimensions to regular flush toilets. They offer more seating comfort and resemble conventional toilets in terms of height and bowl size.
    • These toilets are suitable for households or locations where space is not a significant constraint.
    • They typically have larger composting chambers, which can handle waste from multiple users more efficiently.
  3. Large Composting Toilets:

    • Large composting toilets are designed for higher-capacity situations, such as public restrooms, commercial buildings, or community facilities.
    • They come in larger sizes to accommodate a higher volume of users, and their composting chambers are more substantial.
    • These toilets may also include features like automatic or continuous composting systems to handle a larger load.
  4. Customized or Remote Composting Toilets:

    • In remote or off-grid locations, customized composting toilet systems can be designed to meet specific size and capacity requirements.
    • These systems can vary greatly in size and complexity, depending on the needs of the location and the number of users.
    • Remote composting toilets may include larger composting chambers and advanced ventilation systems.

It's important to note that the size of a composting toilet is not just determined by its physical dimensions but also by its composting capacity, which can vary depending on the model and technology used. Some composting toilets may have larger composting chambers and more robust systems, allowing them to handle waste more efficiently and with less frequent maintenance.

When choosing a composting toilet, consider factors such as the available space, the number of users, and the specific requirements of your location to select a size that best meets your needs for sanitation and composting.

Villa 9215 AC/DC

Separett

Based on 112 reviews Check latest price

Product description

The Villa 9215 AC/DC is newly released for the US market in 2018 and replaces the previous Villa models. Please watch the video in our photo section. It is the most advanced, trouble free composting toilet available for on grid or off-grid living. It is waterless and urine diverting. The Villa 9215 will operate on either AC (standard household or on-grid), or DC (from battery or solar) power. It features a single speed fan, with adaptors for both AC and DC to support venting to 20 feet. Include are all parts required for direct vent and drain application.(Venting matches US pipe sizing), 10 compostable bags, 1 waste container w/lid. Child seat available as an accessory Five year guarantee against manufacturing defects. Three year guarantee on the fan. Ship weight: 34 lbs. Box dimension: 18.5 x 23 x 27.75 inch The design of the toilet bowl catches the urine in a drain which is plumbed to a grey water system or holding tank. The solid waste and paper only are contained within the solid waste holding area in a compostable liner bag. The vent fan pulls air over the solid waste holding area, serving to help dry the solid waste and vent any odor. After a period of use - generally about 3 weeks for average family use, the compostable liner bag is removed from the solid waste holding area and is deposited in your composter, approved solid waste disposal area, or incinerated. This method alleviates the issues of attempting to fully compost material in the toilet. Our toilets carry the Intertec ETL certification. Acceptance of alternative toilet solutions should be confirmed with your local code officers prior to purchase. There are many videos available on our website for product details. Please carefully review our terms prior to purchase as once installed we cannot accept returns on toilets. If you have any issues with use, please contact us directly for assistance.Shipping is via FedEx ground service. No shipping to HI, AK or US islands.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this be used without a grey water holding tank? We have cement floor & walls, no way to run a line out. Would a composting one work better
Answer: No, the urine separator must be run outside or connected to some kind of container. A composting toilet with a self contained urine trap would be better.
Question: If this is in a structure not continuously inhabited how does it handle winter temps down to single digits
Answer: It should be ok. You just want to make sure there's no liquid (urine/water) in the drain line when you leave the house because that can freeze in very cold temps. Otherwise it shouldn't be a problem because it's a dry toilet.
Question: Can it be installed in a shower space [tiny bathroom]
Answer: We do not recommend that the Villa be installed where water will directly go over the toilet. This could allow water to flow into the main area of the toilet which would inhibit drying of the solid waste and collect in the bottom of the toilet.
Question: Where do I buy replacement bags
Answer: Any composting bags will work and can be purchased pretty much anywhere

User questions & answers

Question: Are these labeled compostable on the bag clearly
Answer: Put it in a convenient place where you won't constantly walk over it. No smell at all when closed and little smell when opened. Great product.
Question: what are the dimensions on these 8 gal bags + will they hold heavy stuff like cat litter
Answer: I’m in GA and do lots of landscaping. I am about to purchase this. What I plan to do is first find a spot where there’s the least amount of clay That would be where I was dumping grass cuttings. It will have broke down so the first foot ( I hope) is pourous soil. Then I would dig a bit deeper and wider than recommended I will toss out the big clay clumps and replace with peat moss.
Question: I live in sw florida - will they withstand 90+ temps for a week? using in kitchen garbage can. thx
Answer: Not sure if your question is a joke? Anyway, you still have to scoop poop, unfortunately, then you deposit it in the doggie dooley. If you do figure out how to get your dog to poop in a "toilet" so you don't have to scoop, please share your methods!!
Question: Can you clarify the diameter measurement- would it fit on the rim of a 5 gallon bucket
Answer: I live in Ohio and I get to use the DD for about 10 months each year. When my yard is covered with snow, I do not add any waste. They say the waste does not break down in winter, which makes sense as it does not break down in the yard either. I have used a DD for over 20 years, I love it. During the winter, the few times I do pick up, I bag it and put it on the curb. You don't want to put that huge amount in the DD as it will clog it up. Then, after it stops snowing, I return to using it as normal. It works sort of like an outhouse, sort of like a composting pile. But keeps the poop out of sight and underground. Highly recommended!

User questions & answers

Question: Question for the seller: Where should these be disposed of? Putting them in regular trash is a bad idea
Answer: 15 Bags In a roll
Question: How many are there in the order
Answer: No! Many port-a-potties are cleaned with a hose and suction method. A cardboard toilet paper roll can clog the vacuum, not to mention a large plastic bag, even if it is biodegradable. They usually clean the potties once a week, at least. The bag will not degrade that quickly. It's just not a nice thing to do to the potty cleaners.
Question: Can these be thrown into ports potty
Answer: The advert does say they are compostable as per municipal regs of Australia, Europe, and US, although there is no listed ASTM or other certification number, and these are made of plant-based compounds, so the compostable claim seems to be credible.
Question: Biodegradable is not the same thing as compostable. Where is the 3rd party tested biodegradable certificate #? It's not on the bags
Answer: Yes, our food scale measurers accurately in grams. If you have any additional questions please email [email protected]. Kindest Regards, Alexandra

Question: Do they do any treatments to make sure no pests are living in the dust
Answer: I asks myself that same question I couldn't find any place to dispose It but putting them into trach can by making sure I rebag it good so I went to buy trach bag heavy duty trash bags and make sure it was secured that nothing fall out or smell so yes I dispose it into a garbage dump fully secured with heavy-duty trash bags and you will definitely need to double baguette

  • EASY DISPOSAL - The GTG functions similarly to a cassette toilet, making waste management a breeze!

User questions & answers

Question: What size bags does the bucket use
Answer: After you fill with water you will have to pull the lever out on the side. That opens the hole and flushes it into the bottom portion.
Question: where is it being shipped from Mars
Answer: Ours did too. Ours was still under warranty and they sent us a replacement at no charge however, the new seat has cracked already and it has been a little over a week. We will be contacting Camco with pictures again. We had to contact Camco directly through their website.
Question: Other composting toilets of similar size have some kind of mixing system to mix composting medium with solid waste. How is the solid waste handled
Answer: I’m assuming you’re talking about weight. I just empty ours before it gets full and only has 1 or 2 gallons in it. More manageable that way. Hope this helps...
Question: How many uses before the solids must be removed
Answer: I don't have this exact one but the plunger on the left top should be your flush. You should have a holding tank for clean water that will need to be filled to flush properly. The top comes of and the waste is in the bottom half that will need to be dumped and rinsed, can be flushed down a toliet. No batteries should be needed.

Product features

Easy-to-Remove Seat/Separator

The first key feature of the GTG is the liquid/solid separator, and user-friendly design. The seat easily connects and disconnects, giving the user access to the composting material underneath the seat. Composting or disposing of waste is a breeze!

Dual-Chamber System Design

The GTG neatly and efficiently separates liquid from solid waste into respective chambers. The liquid waste can simply be poured out, and the solid container is designed for direct removal, or use of a bag/liner for easy composting.

Built-in Fan

This composting toilet features an integrated fan/vent. Fans and moving air can decrease unfavorable odors and catalyze the composting process by increasing aerobic conditions.

Simple & Compact Design

There is no better toilet for RV, camping, or other compact spaces than the GTG. Its simplistic and compact design make it the obvious choice for small spaces.

About the GTG - Good To Go!

With a composting toilet this easy to use and install, you'll be wondering where else you can put them! This toilet separates liquid/solid waste into respective chambers. This porta potty toilet will have you wondering why you didn't ditch your rv toilet chemicals earlier. This model is significantly lower hassle and has a lower environmental impact as opposed to incinerator toilet(s) and incinerating toilet(s). Perhaps bests of all, the GTG functions as a waterless toilet. The GTG will complete your portable bathroom. These toilets are popular due to their compact size, function (similar to a cassette toilet), and ease of use. Note: We cannot accept returns on this item, or any of our other toilets.

User questions & answers

Question: does this toilet come wit a manufactures warantee
Answer: I have always got the Kirkland bath tissue been buying it for six years.I really like the bath tissue
Question: Does the fan need to be on 24/7? And since the top flips backwards I assume you can't put this up against a wall too closely

Question: What sort of maintenance is required on this thing? How many lbs of waste would it hold sanitarily, and what are the procedures for keeping it clean
Answer: el precio es muy alto creo que aprovecharon el momento y no esta bien .
Question: I need a toilet for a cabin for 2 to 3 people for 4 month's a year will this do the job
Answer: I have a septic tank and use RID X every month but I burn my toilet paper. I do not put it in the septic tank. This is the best tissue I have ever used.
