| Answer: | I'm in Alabama so I can't speak for prolonged freezing but it froze a few times without issues. It holds up perfectly in heat and humidity. And we have one on a gate that gets direct runoff from the roof (missing a downspout) and that one has given us a few issues but each time we have been able to dry it a little and oil it and it goes back to being perfect. It has never been bad enough that we could not get it to work, it gets a little more temperamental and we know that it needs some tlc. I love these locks on my gates, storage units and crawl space doors. We have the smartkey locks on our house too. They have been worth the money. |

It sounds like your chain is 7/16" ( 12mm) like the 3012 traction chain from Westech. which is larger than mine. Since the lock is snug on my smaller 3/8 " chain.....I would purchase a bigger lock. I imagine that the only options would to re-attempt the re-key process after spraying some lock lubricant, (or WD-40 if that's all you have) Try the new key first, then as a last resort, try re-keying back to the old key. (These are just guesses at what might work to troubleshoot) |
