Answer:	The lid hangs over by about 1/2 inch which should block most of the rain and snow. Just as a suggestion they make black magnetic sheets that you could put on inside. They are like $5 on amazon. This is a great looking well made mailbox, can send pics if you want. [email protected]

Question:	Ecco says to put a coat of car wax a few times per year to prevent rusting. Has anyone tried this? How does it look with it on and did it work
Answer:	I wax everything that is exposed of the elements. It was waxed and installed in October. It made it through winter, and is still shiny. I would recommend waxing it, before installation, to make sure you get all sides of it protected. I even waxed the inside in case the door was left open.

Answer:	Yes. It’s terrible. The paint chips off and it rusts. We’ve had it 9 years. It started looking bad after a few years.

Answer:	No, there is no way to have packages delivered. My postman leaves them on the porch. This can only take large envelopes and there is no outgoing mail. I use a near by mailbox for outgoing mail

Answer:	There is a very small area under the top lip, but you would need to be very close to read it. I have a separate address sign. Also I live in a rural area and I placed mine on a concrete pedestal to make it the right height for the carrier.

Answer:	Hi Rose, Thanks for getting in touch, sorry this is not a post mount mailbox, it is a free-standing style mailbox The E8 is not USPS approved and is intended for a door delivery location. If you intend to use it for curbside/roadside delivery you should check with your mail carrier before purchase. Many customers have installed it on a raised pedestal mount to bring it in line with USPS height recommendation. The mail can be accessed from the rear door but the door is high up so a person needs to reach down to get to the mailbox bottom. The front door is used to retrieve mail. The back door is not meant to be used to retrieve mail. The mailbox is assembled from 2 halves and the rear door is used as an access point to tighten the bolts on the top and the front lower door is used to access the bottom bolts.
