Question: How many of these do you need on a standard solid door? Should I replace all 3 hinges with these, or will one do the trick
Answer: I don't need to have all three hinges self closing. I have 2 of the 3 with the middle hinge being a normal one. Depending on how heavy your door is, you may need more than 1. My somewhat heavy fire door to the garage would be too heavy for one hinge, I suspect.
Question: Will these hinges rust if used outdoors
Answer: It won't. The spring within this hinge is designed to push the door closed and will offer no resistance the other way, which is what you would need to prevent slamming.
Question: Could these be used on a Murphy Bed

Answer: We always recommend installing at least 2 spring hinges per door. These are sold in pairs so you only need one set of these.

Answer: The hinges are probably strong enough, but spring in these would not be near strong enough to raise a murphy bed.
