I installed 2 sets of this hardware for my deck. My gates are metal and stable and posts are plumb and have Trex post covers. At hinge side gate gapped at 1/2" off post and same for latch side. With latching hardware aligned at edge of post I end up with about 5/8" excess latching metal rod past hold down clip. So if your situation is same, latch would catch at 1" but leaves very little leeway for safety if racking or warping occurs gate or post. |
