Question: I am getting the entire display blinking when i put any load on the system. it blinks all zeros. i have it set for 100a, but am less than 100A
Answer: If your display is flashing or the reading seems out... (also if the reading stays 0 you probably have the wires from the shunt the wrong way round)The problem is the length of wires from where the shunt is (if it is not right next to the battery) causes a voltage drop across the cable that influences the reading and in most causes will cause the meter to flash as I suspect this is the over-read indication. (I am using three meters to measure two banks of solar panels and a wind generator)Solution: tie the battery side of the shunt wire to both 0v points on the meter . i.e. bridge the two inner pins of the connector and take the wire only to the shunt, this then takes the voltage drop over the cable to the battery out of the equation.

If you have a 5-watt LED bulb and you power it for 3 hours, your Power reading would consistently read 5 W for the whole time you're powering the bulb ("real time," like a speedometer), and the Energy reading would gradually change from 0 to 15 Wh over that 3-hour period (cumulative total, like an odometer).

The load panel should have all your loads, both DC and inverter. The drawing that baylite provides does not show any dc loads. The common connection point should be the battery terminals. When you say you don't find any connections, it brings up different questions. Do you have both pieces shown in the listing pictures? Are you looking for answers on a digital voltmeter/ammeter? The only connections on these pieces are screw terminals. There should be a wire connection under every exposed screw. One more item - if the problem is the schematic, the one shown on the amazon listing in the pictures is cleaner than the one on the back of the display. Take a minute to look at it. Answer: Best to use only the internal shunt, it will measure a lot of amps and is pretty accurate. Note the internal shunt is on the negative lead (output) so always only connect your load there for reliable measurements. The wiring information that comes with the devices is the correct way to use them. Make sure the output of your power source is isolated from ground (and green wire ground) or you may get a current loop and incorrect readings... especially if your load is connected to another ground.

You just need to go to the screen kwh used. record the beginning # and at the end of time period (say 24 hours) record the end #. that is how many kwh it used. I used several of these for months to record the A/C use in our shared apt and paid the landlord for the a/c used so they don't complain about my electricity used. great device. now however, my apt has a 20a a/c wall unit. while you could get converter to regular 3 prong, not sure if this unit will go to 20 amps.Others who said no are simply ignorant of this devices menu. It ALSo shows, when on watts menu, the watts used when a device is running, or is off. so you can see how much your a/c or toaster oven or giant screen tv uses when on, or off.It also keeps the power kilowatt hours used even if unplugged or power goes out in its internal memory. so you can simply record the kilowatt hours at the begin of a month, then at the end of the month, subtract and multiply by your cost of electricity for the total $ / month the device uses.The dork who was our landlord at the time thought his electric water heater for tea was less expensive to use than nuking a cup of water for a minute to heat it up in the microwave. popped this device on it and they were almost identical in total power used to heat a cup of water.The same idiot who was complaining about this left his rear projection tv on when he wasn't around, and they use alot more electricity than today's flat panel screens.If you want to record the power usage of some device over time, you'll want to plug this device into a short extension cord. if you plug it directly into the wall then you have to lie down on the floor to read the kilowatt readings. Answer: This EZ model does NOT display how many Watts you device is pulling... It displays how may kwh have been used thus far, to the 1/10th decimal place. So, when you first plug something in is shows ZERO, since not enough time has passed to show kwh used yet. This is a HUGE feature left off this device. For me, I want to plug something in to a meter like this and be able to instantly see how many Watts the device uses, and this EZ meter version does not do that.

Answer: Yes. Red is positive, black is negative ( to supply power the unit), and white is the load. (What you want to measure). So if the battery is what you want to measure, just strip the red and white wires and twist them together prior to soldering. That should give you a valid battery meter. I've done this myself, just make sure that you install this unit after the on/off swith (between switch and whatever device you're powering). Otherwise it will act alone and always stay ilon
