Question: | Can it display how much remaining power is in 20,000ma power bank? if so, volts or amperes? thank you |
Answer: | The battery in your power bank is rated at 20,000ma but the battery voltage (single lipo cell) is 3.7Volts. They then use a DC to DC step up circuit to get the 5Volts for the output. Because of this a better measurement would be watt hours. If you have a 5 volt output that gives you 1000ma (1 amp) then you are using 5 watts of power. 5 Watts of power for 3.7 volt battery is using 1351ma out of the battery (assuming 100% efficiency ) to provide you with 5 volts at 1000ma. |
Question: | When I plug the same device to Output I or Output II, I get different values for amps. Shouldn't it be the same |
Answer: | It my understanding that the outputs are different. Output II is for the higher amperage devices. The documentation says that it does not support Apple iPhone/iPad on output II- just on output I. I tried it with my Nexus 9 -- and got 5.42 v, 1.42 amp on both outputs using a 2 amp charger. I don't have a apple charger at that amperage, so I can't really see a difference. |
Question: | Can the led display model effectively measure qualcomm 2.0 quick charging |
Answer: | According to the documentation, "Output I Support QC 2.0 charging for 9V & 12V measurement. But make sure you don't insert any device in Output II when using QC 2.0 Charging." So, yes, but you must use the port with data connection (output-1) and not connect anything else to output 2 while using QC. Note that I have not tried it myself (yet).EDIT: Okay, now I have tested it with my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and a RAVPower QC 2.0 certified charger. And yes, the DROK LED meter showed 9.4V @ 1.6A when I charged it through output 1. |
Question: | Does it support AND maintain usb 3.0 transfers for usb 3.0 devices (usb 3.0 has different signal pins and different power capabilities than usb |
Answer: | The data transfer rate is limited to that of USB 2.0 port. I just tested this with a USB 3.0 flash drive (Sandisk Ultra Fit). When connected through the DROK monitor, its READ speed is limited to about 41MB/s. The same drive can deliver 145MB/s when connected to an USB 3.0 port directly. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the actual size of the product? lxwxh .. nothing listed here |
Answer: | Inside measurements for the cut out are 72mm wide, 39mm tall and 25mm deep. The outer face plate is 7mm wider and 3mm taller, not much difference. I made a matting skirt out of thin black plastic since it's very difficult to cut a perfectly sized rectangle in the wall. |

Question: | specs say it is a 200A meter, yet some say its only goes up to 100A, can anyone confirm this can measure up to 200A |
Answer: | im sitting looking right at one 6months installed ... it regularly measures 155 amps of 12volt charge and up to 199amps discharge .... those are my system limits witb a 5000w inverter several golf cart batteries and two 100amp chargers |
Question: | How long i as the cable for sensor and what is max wire size that will fit in sensor |
Answer: | The sensor cable is about 8 inches long but i cut my cable and extended it to about 10 ft. I testes it up to 15ft and it worked fine. You could possibly go longer. Just use a good quality multi wire cable, or make your own. About 18AWG probably OK. I recall the hole as 20mm, roughly 3/4 inch diameter. No problem for RV battery cable. Remember you can run more than one wire through the hole, That way you can still use battery terminal as the tie point for the various wires that may already be connected there. The sensor will read the Sum of currents, that is for example, if you have charging from a solar system at say 5A, and a discharge load to lighting at say 3A, your meter will show 2A charging. Hope this helps |

User questions & answers
Question: | I want to measure the power of a pool heat pump using 240 ac in us measurements. do i take both legs (using 2 meters) and combine the readings |
Answer: | I have a dozen of these in various electrical loads in my plant, they run 24x7 and are over 1 year old, no problems. |
Question: | Does this include wiring requirments. the q and a make it seem as this is just the lcd for an remote unit |
Answer: | You say you want to read the wattage on a 240 vac circuit. If you literally mean one circuit, like an air conditioner or electric range, then this is easily done. Connect the meter voltage input to the 240 volt supply and run one of the wires feeding your 240 vac load through the current transformer (CT). If the appliance also contains 120 vac loads, like a fan for instance, then you will see different readings depending on which of the 240 vac lines you pass through the CT, i.e., on one side you will only see the 240 vac load (such as a compressor) and on the other you'll see both the 120 vac and 240 vac load (compressor and fan).If you're talking about measuring the total current drawn by all household circuits (USA Service with 120 vac and 240 vac) then no, this will not give a true reading. Let's call the 120 vac circuits phase A (Black) and phase B (Red). If you mount the CT on the BLACK side, you'll read all the currents being drawn by the 120 vac loads on phase A PLUS the current being drawn by the 240 vac loads. If you mount the CT on the RED side, you'll read all the currents being drawn by the 120 vac loads on phase B PLUS the current being drawn by the 240 vac loads. If your desire is to measure only current drawn by the 240 vac loads, then this won't work because you'll also see current being drawn by the 120 vac loads. A possible work around would be to pass all of your 240 vac load lines (either all phase A or all phase B) through the CT. For example, suppose you want the total load for an electric oven, an air conditioner and a well pump. Find the wire leaving the breaker for phase A (or B, but don't mix) for each of those and pass them through the current transformer. This should give you an approximation of what those loads draw, but there may be some errors due to the power factors of the appliances. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I don't think i have all the cables. I have a black and red one for bat and i have 2 ofbthevwife white ones that connect then tigether ti communicate |
Answer: | It comes with a multi conductor ribbon cable for about 12-18 inches. You may be able to extend that through some DIY soldering and creative wiring. I don’t know how that will affect the readings. You may be able to find a cable on Lin’s with the correct plugs and ribbon to reach your desired layout. Good luck. |
Question: | is this weatherproof |
Answer: | I haven't tested anything besides the low-voltage protection, but it seems like all the protections can be run simultaneously. You can pick and choose which one(s) to have "armed" as well as set each trigger parameter. The caveat is that it is a only a relay cut, without any automated reconnect. So if any of the protections are triggered, it cuts the external relay, then to reconnect you have to press OK on the "OUT" parameter to re-activate the relay. |
Question: | In the application I have, I need to separate the sensor module from the display by about 3 m. Is it possible to lengthen the cable |
Answer: | Roughly 3in |
Question: | Does programming allow relay controller setting protections to run simultaneously OR is it only “choose one” from the list of monitoring options |
Answer: | Dear customer, So far we don't have 200 amps module. Best regards, DROK |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have a 220 volt 200 amp split phase service can I connect one to each side and get a accurate readings? Does it reset if you lose power |
Answer: | Yes you can. One meter on each phase-to-ground should work fine. Very little current is going through the meter, that's why it uses the CT-Current Transformer that comes with this meter, which typically is 1000:1. Very convenient also that it does not reset but keeps the KWh measured. Value which can be manually reset to 0. |
Question: | What advantage is there with this over the kind you plug in a wall outlet to measure different appliances |
Answer: | This can go to 100A. Wall outlet type only goes to 15A. I needed to measure an appliance that peaks near 20A, so the 15A wall type was not enough. |
Question: | ive seen some of these are good for 20 amps. How does that work on a 200 amp panel |
Answer: | This particular unit will max out at 100 AMps. |
Question: | Would this work on a 2 pole circuit? Or would you need a unit for each hot lead |
Answer: | Can anyone clarify the wiring on this? I purchased for this use case. Drok says "this meter wont work for my application" this post and other reviews are saying otherwise. Maybe the review photos are a trick because it shows 240 input voltage but only measuring wattage from one pole. I tried putting the red & black L1 / L2 though the CT and then powering the meter using the same leads. It shows 240v input voltage, but the wattage doesn't move. Is this post suggesting I need to do the same thing but run red & black L1 / L2 through the CT in opposite directions? like crisscrossing? then power the meter off the black & red L1 / L2 and do not tap White (Neutral) & Bare (Ground)? I am struggling to understand the logic on how opposing flow of electricity will sum the current. Joel M states "put the ammeter coil around the common hot lead" which is confusing, because I would consider the White (Neutral) lead to be common & completing the circuit for both 120v poles. So do I power the meter off the red & black L1 / L2 then put the coil around the White (Neutral)? I know the proper solution is to buy two units and add the wattage from both 120v... but that's too much wiring and monthly effort. I would rather buy a unit that works for 2 poles or get this sum solution to work. |

User questions & answers
Question: | When used to measure the voltage and amperes fed to the battery as opposed to battery output can/should you leave out the shut? 1 output side also |
Answer: | Dear customer, This meter is non-waterproof. Best regards, DROK |
Question: | If I use 4 shunts in parallel, would device show 1/4 of actual current flow ? I need to measure up to 400 A draw |
Answer: | Whereas I have not personally exceeded the maximum reading capability of this particular instrument, I have done so with many, many other ammeters, digital and analog with no consequence as long as the amount and time of overload is reasonable. The actual current being utilized by the meter's internal circuitry is in the micro amp range with little chance of heat damage. I'd assume that an overload indication such as a flashing display or , "err", "hhh" or "ovr" would be displayed. |
Question: | Is this device weather tight, i.e., for installation in a sailboat control panel |
Answer: | The add says voltage range is AC 80-300V. A standard conmen U.S. home outlet is only 110 to 120 volts. I was think it means it can't read below 80 volts are above 300 volts and only alternating current. AC = alternating current is standard conmen U.S. home power type. ("80-199V" Up to 300 or 199 volts) I am think that is someone's typo? Hope that helps. |
Question: | What would happen with an occasional 200a draw? Would it just not measure it correctly or would it be permanently broken |
Answer: | First, you are aware that it has a FLAT plug, which is not common for 220V. The picture show 236 so I assume that it will have a "2" digit which is also not common. Most voltmeters are have a ONE for the most significant digit, but it shows a "2" which means that it will read 200. Also note that the accuracy is stated at 1.5% +or- 2 digits. There have been complaints that the meter is off by 3 Volts...which is well within the specs and is typical for an AC voltmeter.. At 230, it could be off as much as 5 volts and still be in spec. Also this same voltmeter is available as a single voltmeter from Amazon, if you only need one, but you have to hunt for it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | The button for backlight looks recessed. Do you need something like a pen to push the button |
Answer: | Yes! And it is also used to set several parameters which is OK if your use is in a PERMANENT setup. In my case it is only a test meter, and it becomes a pain to just reset the Watt.Hr meter... Also everytime it is powered up the backlight comes up flashing... Neat instrument otherwise.. |
Question: | How do you hook up this gauge with its tiny wires/connections when all of the cabling in a solar system is much heavier gauge? seems like a botleneck |
Answer: | All of the current ( AMPS) go through the SHUNT ( rated at 20 AMPS ) the small wires that go to the display unit from the SHUNT are only supplying very low current / low voltage to the display unit that gives it the value of the current ( AMPS ) that are passing through the SHUNT. I have the 100 AMP SHUNT version of this unit and it works very well. Again, all the current and the voltage your measuring with this unit are derived at the SHUNT and it can handle a lot of current and will NOT restrict or bottleneck the current or the voltage you want to measure. Hope this helps. |
Question: | What is "dc in" in the diagram on the back of the device? is it battery |
Answer: | This is the dc from the source that you want to monitor. It could be from a battery, power supply, solar cell, generator, etc. |
Question: | Can the voltage be calibrated? Mine was accurate initially but now displays ~19v with a 12v line supply. The load side reads 12v with a multimeter |
Answer: | Same thing happened after 2 months to mine!!! I was wondering what happened. My solar panels produce about 36 volts, now it's displaying 50-60, throwing the wattage reading way off. If anyone knows how to calibrate it, let us know please. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Hi, will this display show charging (+) and discharging (-) current when connected to a battery? thanks |
Answer: | When connecting to a battery, it will show the charging current but not sure it it can show the discharging at negative current, ideally it should work. |
Question: | Can i increase the current limit by adding a shunt to the circuit |
Answer: | I would not try this Theory says if you halved the shunt resistance you could double the current. However, the meter's displayed current will now be off by a factor of two. In addition, the internal wiring will need to increased in size to properly handle the additional current. DROK meters designed for more that 10 Amp utilize an bulky external shunt capable of handling the increased current and power requirements. |
Question: | Whats the biggest gauge of wire that can fit on the connector? A side from the wire that came with it |
Answer: | I was able to get 14 gauge in mine. I'm not sure if 12 gauge would fit or not. |
Question: | I got 4,000wtt inverter,i want to use this but only show up to 2,000watt this not show if got all power dicharge from my inverter |
Answer: | You have a 4000W inverter? [P/V = I (P is 4000W) (V is voltage), 4000W/115V = 34.8 (I) Amps.] Youll smoke it. You want a model with an external Shunt. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do you have this with a stronger 125 or 150amp shunt |
Answer: | he is asking if vender has this device in 125 or 150 amp capacity i don't know if this vender has this model but they are for sale as i have got them be four |
Question: | I just want to measure volts and amps coming in from my solar panels. Do you have any suggestions? Also do I need to connect the load to work |
Answer: | The voltage will read out with our without a load. The amps only give you the current coming from your solar panel so if there is no load, the amps will be zero |
Question: | So where do you connect the power source? I don’t find any connections |
Answer: | Is the problem that you don't understand the schematic? The positive power source lead should go to the load (motor, etc). The shunt bar goes inline (it is part of the load circuit) on the negative lead back to the power source. After that, just hook up the display to the shunt bar - and one lead back to the power source positive - and you should be good. When you say you don't find any connections, it brings up different questions. Do you have both pieces shown in the listing pictures? Are you looking for answers on a digital voltmeter/ammeter? The only connections on these pieces are screw terminals. There should be a wire connection under every exposed screw. One more item - if the problem is the schematic, the one shown on the amazon listing in the pictures is cleaner than the one on the back of the display. Take a minute to look at it. Hope this isn't too simplistic. Your question makes me go down a couple of different roads. Good luck. |
Question: | Power source? Does this run off the power of the circuit being tested or does it need a separate power source? Is it "self powered |
Answer: | I just tested it with a 9v batt. it operate off of the circuit being tested. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How long is the ribbon cable |
Answer: | Dear customer, It only show centigrade temperature. Best regards, DROK |
Question: | Do you make a unit just like this but rated for 200-amp???...impossible to find anything on Amazon |
Answer: | Yes. |
Question: | Does the temperature read in F, or just C |
Answer: | Absolutely. I installed this this meter on my motor home house batteries to monitor the batteries and the charging voltage while driving and while plugged into shore power. As long as you are within the stated voltage range you will be fine. |
Question: | does it come with a temperature sensor |
Answer: | There is no easy way that I can conceive of (I have an AA degree in electronics, for what that is worth). But, if you put one or more layers of tissue paper (or maybe a panel from a white plastic bag) over it, that will dim the display quite a bit while it will still be perfectly readable (I've just tried the tissue paper on your behalf!). BTW, I put an on/off switch in line with the power wire anyway when I installed it in my RV, both to completely remove annoying light and also save a teeny bit of electricity. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the draw |
Answer: | I'm not sure to what you are referring, but I know the meter measures voltage and current draw. So if you are referring to current draw, then that is the amount of current amperage going through the meter and being drawn by your circuit. |
Question: | i bought the 50 amp version, how do i set the meter to 50 amp not the 100amp default |
Answer: | As noted in the included instruction sheet, long press the button until it displays "Curr". Then short clicks will toggle between 100A and 50A shunt modes. The either long press,or just wait, and it will store the setting. |
Question: | Comes with the shunt |
Answer: | There are several VERY different models on this product page! The 50A and 100A versions come with external shunts that produce a 75mV drop across the sense leads at the rated current. The meter is identical for those two versions. See my review for pictures. |
