Question:	will this work for a Martha Stewart pre-lite tree
Answer:	I have not tried it on a pre-lit tree but according to the instructions it is supposed to work on pre-lit trees too. It does work on strings of lights but if you have a string of lighted garland and you have several lights blows you might have to take some out of the socket and test them one at a time. The string of lights will usually still work with some burned out bulbs but when you reach a certain number of blown bulbs then the string will stop working. Good luck.
Question:	Pulling trigger didn't work. Voltage tester seemed to work but when I replaced the bulb that didn't beep it still didn't work
Answer:	You have to pull the trigger 4 or 5 times. also you need to check down the entire string, because more than one light may be out. I usually test the fuse in the plug part first, because if that is out, nothing will work. test your fuses, then run down the lights with the gun pressing the top button, it will "flash beep" until you get to the lights that aren't working. do this to the entire strand. then replace all those that it does not beep at. it is not a 5 second fix when you have a stand not working. take the 5 - 10 minutes to do all this and you will love this tool.
Question:	Will this work on LED lights
Answer:	You cannot use the shunt repair function of this device on LED light strings, but the bulb tester and the open circuit detector will work. However, if all you have are LED lights, then I would recommend buying the model they make specifically for LED lights.

How LightKeeper Pro Works

Continuity/Voltage Detector

Question:	I just received the tester but it doesnt seem to work. It beeps on the lited bulbs but it also beeps on the unlitted branch
Answer:	I had that happen, sometimes the wire is itself is live but some of the circuits are still not working. Even the bristles on my tree will make the thing beep, because it detects electrical activity. I checked to see if anything would make it beep, and my wood chair won't so it isn't a dud. I found that if you pull the bulb, and the lights in the surrounding area stay on, and the bulb is still good on testing - that's when the trigger repair can work. I have fixed a few bad spots so far with it. It's just time consuming is all. But I've fixed a few light strands so far and 3 dead spots on a christmas tree - so it does work. Just not 100% of the time. It's time consuming and takes persistance is for sure. Tip - if you pull the bulb on a mini bulb to test or replace it - flag the spot with something bright like a light dog toy or ribbon or anything that will catch your attention. Once you pull the bulb and a whole section goes out - it's harder than you think to find the exact spot. While you waste an hour looking for that little bulb in a sea of non-working lights, you will hate your life. Mark the spot.

Answer:	According to the instructions, no. But there may be an LED version. I am not 100% satisfied with it on my mini-lights right now.

Answer:	Miniature lights are what it is made for. From the manufacturer: "The LightKeeper Pro's Quick Fix Trigger will only work in series Miniature Light sets with shunted bulbs. The LightKeeper would not be appropriate for the larger lamped C7, C9 sets, tube/rope lights or LED Lights. In addition series light sets with control boxes creating motion, music or motion would not be a candidate for the Quick Fix Trigger. The control box will block the pulse before it reaches the defective bulbs." I hope this helps.

Non-contact AC voltage detection

Switch to the ON / FUSE TEST position, move the probe close to the wire or socket to be detected.

When the instrument detects AC voltage, the built-in buzzer will sound and the LED will flash red.

Retractable light bulb remover

Move the bulb remover control to stretch out the bulb remover.

Tests bulb

Switch to the BULB TEST position.

Hold the bulb to be tested by its tip and gently push the bulb's two connecting terminals against the two metal contacts of the bulb tester, make sure that the bulb's two terminals are touching the two metal contacts of the bulb tester.

The bulb is good if the bulb lights.The bulb is damaged if the bulb doesn't light.

Test fuse

Switch to the ON / FUSE TEST position.

Hold the fuse (size＜φ4x10mm) to be tested in the middle and gently press it against the fuse tester, make sure that the fuse's two terminals are touching the two metal contacts of the fuse tester.

The fuse is good if the built-in buzzer sounds and the LED flashes red.The fuse is blown or damaged if the detector doesn't give alarm.

Answer:	Yes. It is a very easy replacement. Take out one screw remove the old head and replace it with a new one and replace the cover.

Answer:	It can only light one section at a time. It sends DC voltage into the wire and each section has a capacitor between them. A capacitor can only pass AC voltage. It works fine if you understand how it works. It takes some practice at first.

Answer:	Yes! My wife bought a nice used Christmas tree but a lot of lights were out. With the continuity tester, I was able to carefully follow each strand on the branch to identify the faulty bulb. The lights have to be plugged in so it can beep when it detects voltage. When the beeping stops, check that bulb out replace it. I don't think the piezo function did anything. Although it may have repaired broke circuits I wasn't aware of. I purchased mine for about $20 at Home Depot. Walmart carries them too. I bought a cheap light set for $2.50 and used the bulbs from it to replace the faulty bulbs wired to my tree. I refuse to restring it this year. Every light works now!

Answer:	First, you need to know the amperage of the bulbs in the string and make sure you need 2.5 volt bulbs not 3.5v or 5.0v. Do a search for "Hard to find items". They have a good explanation of the bulbs. Basically, there are 2 types of 2.5 volt bulbs - energy saver(ES) & super bright(SB). The ES bulbs use 170mA's (0.170 amps) & the SB use 200mA's. If you put a SB in a string made for ES, the bulb will glow dim. If you put a ES bulb in a string made for SB, the bulb will blow. The white tab on the string indicates what the string is rated for (if you didn't strip the tabs off like I do) or look in the instructions that came with the light string and replacement bulbs/fuses. I use a sharpie to mark the volts and amps on the male end of the string and keep the instructions & spares in a zip lock bag since I have a lot of new & old strings. Pull out a bulb to see if the base is round or has a "pinched" or "slotted" base since all of these bulbs have "metal tabs" (actually wires) coming out of the bottom. The pinched base wires usually don't extend far enough out of a round base holder to make contact and the round bases usually don't fix tight enough in a pinched base holder to insure a consistent contact. Since this listing (and most of the others in this category) doesn't indicate the amps you could contact National Tree to get the full spec's for these bulbs. If all else fails, replace all the strings and buy 1 extra to have a good supply of extras. It's cheaper than buying a pack of replacement bulbs.
