Question: | good morning, can anyone tell me if this multimeter have spanish instructions |
Answer: | If it is a 400 amp current meter then that is what it will read. Current is current, inrush requires a quicker meter and this one is quick. Also....read the specs!' |
Question: | is any special formula needed when measuring each leg of three phase power [amp draw] or do I just clamp it on |
Answer: | I've not used any meter for 3 continuous hours ever, with the exception of my data logger. This meter, however, does drain batteries faster than any fluke or other meter I've ever owned. Some of the fellas in my crew remove the batteries in order to prolong battery life. I suspect the detachable face is always searching for the handset, because it drains even if the unit is off for a prolonged time.I change batteries for the face every 4 months, and roughly 10 months in the handset, because I'm not smart enough to remember to remove the batteries when not in use.I hope this answer will suffice. |
Question: | It measures temperature in C or F |
Answer: | No |
Question: | What is precision of current measurement |
Answer: | I purchased at ~ 350 from KTools last fall, but came with case, leads, I flex meter manual & proof of calibration. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why is this not "auto ranging"? i would have expected that from amazon |
Answer: | If that occur then you next to return to off and change the Battery , do the instructions from manual and make more measurement, be sure that you doing correct procedures, if that continue occurring then your Device is fault .. Bets regards... AMES |
Question: | I can't figure how the leads plug into the ports? Help |
Answer: | I went ahead and tested the continuity to see how it worked. It appears to take about a second or some short period of time to respond. I did this by rapidly tapping the tips together. I did not receive a tone until I held the tips together for a longer period of time. So if you are doing rapid continuity testing, I would not recommend this meter. Other wise it is a great meter. I have 4 of them and several other versions of Extech meters both lower and higher in price. I checked my EX530 meter, it was about the same, My EX430 meter did make sound during the tapping but it was not a solid tone. It was intermitant, but it did respond a bit faster. The auto power off of the 430 can be a frustraiting as you have to turn the unit off and then back on about every 7 minutes. Radio Shack has a meter part number 22-816 which is made by Extech and works very similarly to the EX430. I have several other types of meters, but they all seem to have some sort of delay. I have a few other high cost meters, but I don't have any batteries in those while I am not using them for testing. |
Question: | Does the et15 receptacle tester test gfci outlets |
Answer: | Yes it will read to three digits after the decimal like your example. |
Question: | how do i use this unit to test a 3 volt lithium 2032 battery |
Answer: | Meter arrived with 36" test leads included. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the weight of the product, including the packaging |
Answer: | Auto ranging meters are usually expensive ones, with more functions like capacitance and temperature testing. So I think, its just a starter kit for basic functions/utilities. Hope it will help. |
Question: | This ex430a has only one selector dial setting for voltage (v) so how do you let it know whether you want to measure dc volts or ac volts |
Answer: | Take the caps off the ends of the leads. Plug the black lead into the "COM" port in the middle of the meter. Plug the red lead into either the "10A" or the "V ohm mA" port. Normally you would use the "COM" and the ""V ohm mA" ports. Only use the "10A" port when you are testing high current. |
Question: | This ex430a has only one selector dial setting for voltage (v) so how do you let it know whether you want to measure dc volts or ac volts |
Answer: | This will test the voltage at the receptacle, and the 'Test' button built into the GFCI will test it for tripping. To see if the GFCI (or any regular receptacle) is wired correctly, set the meter selector to the range higher that what you're testing, so the 200V AC scale (with the squiggly line above the 200) for checking 120V AC, and put one lead (either color) in the hot side of the receptacle (smaller slot) and the other test lead in the Neutral side (longer slot) and read 110 to 120 Volts, and then check Hot to Ground (rounded hole) and read 120V. Neutral to Ground should be zero unless the receptacle is wired backwards. Some receptacle testers used for checking for proper wiring of a receptacle by checking the three lights also have a button to push to check the trip of the GFCI which works the same as the 'Test' button on the GFCI receptacle, but is easier to push, plus also checks receptacles "downstream" of the GFCI to make sure that they are indeed wired properly to the load side of the GFCI and are therefore protected. The analog coil-type voltage tester or "Wiggys" can trip a GFCI by testing from the 'hot' side of the receptacle (smaller slot) to ground (rounded slot), but the electronic or analog multimeters don't draw enough current to trip the GFCI safety circuitry. |
Question: | Does anyone know where this meter is manufactured? What Country? Thanks much |
Answer: | Plug the black cord into the COM plug. Plug the red meter into the V mA plug. Set the rotary dial to 9V BAT (since we’re testing a 3V battery, should use 9V NOT 1.5V setting). Hold the red test pin to the + side of the 2032 battery. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Would this meter NCV feature be useful at tracing a bad bulb in a garland |
Answer: | Agreed - Model 410 is shown as averaging and 430 is true RMS. For general use an averaging meter will usually suffice. |
Question: | Is anyone having trouble with the sensivity of the ncv? i have tried two of these meters and neither function as well as a stand alone ncv |
Answer: | When I bought it, I receive the EX 410 as the title suggests. |
Question: | What is the sensitivity of the device in sensing ac voltage? can one confirm the presence of 120, 208, 277, 480v 1p or 3p grounded emt, rigid, or pvc |
Answer: | It'll go up to 1382F degrees so that's more than enough to safely check the oven. I wouldn't leave the probe in the oven for a long period of time; just long enough to get a reading. |
Question: | So omni- if you don't have to pierce the wire to sense dc voltage- how close does the probe need to be? touching the wire insulation |
Answer: | I don't know about the packaging-it was a plastic blister pack with a fairly thick instruction book (sorry it's been a couple of years now I think since I got it)-but the meter itself, with leads, and battery, weighs 15 oz. by my scale. I think that's fairly consistent with the other answer listed here. Bueno suerte. |
