Troubleshooting

Symptom:

- Bulbs turn off while being dimmed.

- Bulbs turn on at high light level but do not turn on at a low light level, or take too long to turn on at low end.

- Bulbs flicker or flash when dimmed do a low light level.

Solution:

1. Verify all bulbs are marked dimmable.

2. Remove wallplate and locate sensitivity dial.

Trouble shooting

1: Light flash in the whole dimming range

a. Check the lighting/lamp is dimmable or not

b. The lighting fixture is not compatible with our dimmer

c. Most dimmable LEDs and CFLs will not acheive as low level as incandescent or halogen sources.

d. Control a group of lighting fixtures/lamps with one dimmer may cause flicker due to variation of dimming circuit and dimming range. Please use dimmer to

control lights/lamps in the same type or same model.

2. Light flash in low dimming range

a. Slightly turn the adjustment dial counter- clockwise to achieve full compatibility with the lights.

Answer:	You need to be using "dimmable" bulbs, either incandescent or LED, but not fluorescent. If you are using dimmable incandescent or LED bulbs, I believe there is a slider control (switch) somewhere on this switch to choose either incandescent or LED. That needs to match your bulb type.
Question:	I installed the switch as well as dimmable led bulbs. they work on the dim setting but they blink from half all the way to full power, any ideas
Answer:	I've had similar issues and took it up with Leviton on their website. They initially just asked me to send it back to them, but I stopped short stating that I didn't particularly want to "finance" that. So they did send me a replacement unit and a prepaid shipping label. The replacement one is "better", but sometimes it still goes into flicker or as I call it "spazz" mode. They have asked me for the exact bulbs I'm using (Ecosmart Classic Glass Bulbs from Home Depot) but nothing further from them. I use those same bulbs in (2) other fixtures with Lutron LED dimmers (Model# TGCL-153PH-WH and Model# CTCL-153PR-WH) and they both have worked flawlessly for about a year. Never a single flicker. Bob
Question:	Where is the locator light
Answer:	Mine has a green LED at the top of the toggle switch. It is almost impossible to see in the light, but when the room is dark, it is visible without being disturbing. It comes defaulted to OFF. There are two micro switches on the front of the switch, which are hidden once that switch plate is put on. The top switch has an A and B position. A (the default) is for LED and incandescent lights. B is for CFC bulbs. A second switch, lower down, is for the locator light. Set the switch to ON if you want to use the light. Set these switches before you put on the switch plate because the plate covers these switches.

Answer:	Lutron does not recommend two AYCL-153P-WH dimmers in 3-way application. The second location would need to be a standard 3-way mechanical switch.
Question:	Can you fit three of these switches side by side in a standard 3 gang box
Answer:	The switch generates heat so it has tabs on both sides to prevent you from mounting them side by side without being aware that you have to "derate" them if you want to install them side be side. In other words, you can put 600 watts of incandescent bulbs on one dimmer if you mount it alone but only 500 watts of incandescent on a dimmer with one side tab removed (you remove only the tab(s) that overlap) and only 400 watts load with both tabs removed (as you would do mounting 3 switches in a standard 3 gang box). They also include a chart for derating when you mix CFL/LED bulbs with incandescent.

Answer:	I was wondering this exact same question, so I called Lutron and learned that they're the exact same switch. The model numbers differ because they're marketed/sold differently (e.g. Home Depot vs. other stores). So, if you find one cheaper than another, as I've done here on Amazon, buy the less expensive one!

Question:	I plan on using this with a track lighting kit that uses dimmable leds. do i need anything (transformer?) between this switch and the track fixture
Answer:	It would depend on the rack light system you use. If it uses 120v lamps then no. if it is a lower voltage lamp system it would have its own transformer as part of its installation and this dimmer is probably not what you need. You would then want a dimmer designed for low voltage applications. As far as I know though there is no hard and fast rule on this today as all the dimmers and transformers are electronic and may or may not be compatible with other electronic devices including the led drivers fjord the particular lamps in the track system you select. You should consult with the dealer you ate purchasing from and the installing electrician. If you ate doing it yourself you'll need do your research through the manufacturers of the equipment for comparability like the electrician would.
Question:	What size bulb can be used with this dimmer? There seem to be all kinds of size bulbs available
Answer:	That's right in the description: 150 watts LED / CFL, 600 watts incandescent. Just add the power requirements of all the bulbs controlled by the dimmer. For example, I'm using it to control 4 60 watt incandescent bulbs, total 240 watts. For LEDs / CFLs, use the actual power required, not the "equivalency". So a 23-watt CFL that says it's as bright as a 100 watt incandescent still only counts as 23 watts.
Question:	difference in led and incandescent lighting dimmers
Answer:	Some incandescent dimmers modify the output of the power in such a way that it either won't work at all or can damage the LED dimmer. LED dimmers I believe use finer PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) which will work with all dimming bulbs - incandescent, CFL, and LED bulbs. Using LED bulbs with a non-LED dimmer is a bad thing as is using LEDs that are not designed to be dimmed at all. The payback for the additional expense of the LED dimmer is pretty quick if it removes a large enough incandescent light bulb.

Answer:	Problem: Flickering or FlashingPossible Cause #1: Incorrect VoltageLED downlights have a specified input voltage. Incorrect voltage to the driver can cause the LED to flicker or toflash on and off. * Check the input voltage of the driver (Ex: 120V) then check the voltage being delivered to the fixture (Ex: 277V). There may be a mismatch. If possible, replace the driver on the downlight for one with the correct input voltage to match the line voltage or, if that is not an option, install an applicable voltage transformer to the line voltage to achieve the required input voltage for the original fixture.Possible Cause #2: Incompatible DimmerIf the LED downlight was not designed for a particular dimming load or if the driver is not compatible with thedimming control then issues may occur. * Try bypassing the dimming circuit. Question:	Can this dimmer be used with a fluorescent light
Answer:	I have used them with fluorescent lights, with no problem. I have also used them with LEDs with no problem. We replaced all our old paddle switches with these and have been happy with them. We especially like the little LED pinpoint light at the top of the paddle, to aid in finding the switch in the dark. It doesn't light up the room like some switches have, but it is enough light that you can find it in the dark, when you first come in the room.
Question:	There are 4 color pictures that you can select the color of your choice from....the white one says brown. Which is it? White or brown
Answer:	Ha, that is a good question! I do believe it comes in white, beige and ivory so you can choose the color. I don't recall their being a brown one.
Question:	Is a third, neutral wire, required
Answer:	No, this dimmer don't require a third neutral wire, the lighting product's neutral connect with power supply's neutral wire. As far as I know, triac dimmer don't require a neutral wire, it is series connect with lighting fixture.
Question:	Wiring it in a three way possibiliy 4 way do you put this in the end of travelers to dim or one 2 at each location
Answer:	You only need one 3-way dimmer. The other switch is to be a regular 3-way switch. It doesn't matter which end you install the dimmer on. Dimmers on both ends will double dim - not desirable. In a 4-way situation wire the dimmer on either end with a standard 4-way switch and 3-way switch on the other side.

Answer:	I doubt it. Light bulbs that are not built to work with dimmers cannot function correctly at reduced voltage. I know it works with halogen and incandescent -- haven't tried compact fluorescent or LED with this dimmer.

Troubleshooting

Symptom:

- Bulbs turn off while being dimmed.

- Bulbs turn on at high light level but do not turn on at a low light level, or take too long to turn on at low end.

- Bulbs flicker or flash when dimmed do a low light level.

- Bulbs or dimmers are buzzing.

Solution:

1. Verify all bulbs are marked dimmable.

2. Remove wallplate and locate sensitivity dial.

3. Turn up (counter-clockwise) sensitivity dial slowly until symptom is no longer present.

Answer:	When the locator light is in the ON position, a very small amount of current is passed through the LED bulb. Very sensitive LED bulbs may appear to glow from this current. To fix, turn the locator light to the OFF position.
Question:	I have dimmable leds, but. They don't dim very low, and at high end they flicker, any help
Answer:	Unfortunately, not all "dimmable" LED lights are "made equal" NOR are all "dimmers" made equal. I continue to have a very similar problem with this dimmer and my dimmable LEDs as well. I have a little background in electronics and have concluded that in my case, there is simply a problem with the Leviton dimmer design. One thing I did while testing my problem, might help diagnose the problem your are having. Note that the spec on the dimmer is "300-Watt LED". Check that the total "load" on the dimmer is
