Question: | My family has two appartments next to each other, both separate electrical installations. Would this work if we wanted to split the internet bill |
Answer: | Yes the EX8000 used as a wifi extender you have the option of having a guest network. You can use same SSID name as your main router or use a different SSID altogether. I did have issues with more than one extender on the same network using same SSID name as main router so I had to change one of the extenders to a different SSID. |
Question: | Has anyone connected a ps4 of xbox one to the wifi from the range extender? if so, signal and game play any good |
Answer: | If you mean an AT&T router signal, yes. If you mean cell tower signal, then no. |
Question: | Does it create a new sid or does it exteneded your current sid, so one does not have to switch to differing networks when in range |
Answer: | the input voltage is from 100 to 240 volts |
Question: | I don't understand how some people give this 4-5 stars and others can't get it to work and give it 1 star |
Answer: | there are 4 ports. I use multiple ones as this is the only system I can find that does not change the network name but once a year I also have one break and have to replace it or hard reset it myself. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I just returned this smart plug after their tech support told me it could not be used with Kindle Fire. Any good alternatives |
Answer: | I used my smart phone to get the app from google play store and set it up. You may be able to use your computer. It works well with the echo it is just a dace to get there. Good luck |
Question: | Can you plug in a power strip to this device |
Answer: | Yes - however, please bear in mind that toggling the Smart Plug on/off will affect all appliances/devices plugged into the power strip. Please also make sure the total power draw from the appliances/devices connected to the power strip does not exceed the Smart Plug's load specifications: Input voltage: 100 - 120VAC, 15A Output voltage: 100 - 120VAC, 15A Maximum Load: 15A Maximum Power: 1.8KW Regards, TP-Link Support |
Question: | What is max wattage of device to be connected to Smart Plug |
Answer: | Mine caught on fire with a little 1500 watt space heater, and to compare, my hair dryer is 1875 watts (not plugged into a smart plug of course), so it doesn't take much for these to catch on fire. Be careful if you use anything in it larger than maybe a desk lamp in my opinion. I unplugged all 3 of my kasa smart plugs and won't use them anymore. |
Question: | Does this device retain the settings if power is disconnected? Power outage, breaker blown, etc |
Answer: | Two parts to this answer... First, yes it retains it's settings if the power is off or it's unplugged. Second, I powered on my lamp then unplugged the unit from the wall. Upon plugging it back in after a couple seconds it turned itself back on (the last state it was in) and within a few more seconds re-connected to my wifi network.Hope this answers peoples questions about power outages and operation... |
