Answer:	It is approx 3/32”. It does not offer much in the way of cushion but it is not intended to do so. It does protect the surface it is placed on from scratches as well as spills. We have not dumped a significant amount of fluid on it and let it set for any length of time but in close to 100 normal uses it has not leaked one time. It is an outstanding cleaning pad and is well worth the money.
Question:	How does this stand up to the chemicals used in cold bluing kits
Answer:	First and foremost this pad is not intended to be used in that manner. That being said it has held up to every single solvent that we have exposed it to including Acetone with flying colors. Nothing we have used has compromised it waterproof ability or degraded the material. Cold Bluing is no where near as caustic as conventional rust bluing so in my honest opinion the mat should do fine. I hopes this help with your decision.

Answer:	71/4 inches wide by 3 1/2 inches high. I lowered it 2 inches and added some 3/4 Baltic birch ply wood faces and expanded the vise to 10 1/2 wide and 5 1/2 high. Works great that way.

Answer:	It is made by an American company, but could not find a "made in" stamp anywhere visible after I installed it. Good vice, probably assembled in the states from foreign made parts.

Answer:	Yes, I did that to mine and it worked out great. I built my own 4x8 workbench with 2x4's., butcher block style. I left out about 2' where I was going to attach the vise. I took 2 pieces of 1x oak I had hanging around the shop and cut out a sort of upside down U into the oak with about an inch left up top , same shape I scribed from the backside of the vise. I attached the vise to my table, slipped the cut-out piece I cut from the oak over it so you didnt see the top metal part of the vise and a second piece of the oak over that covering the face of the rear part of the vice. I slipped the screw part of the front back in then...screwed two pieces of 1x oak to the inside of the front . Looks and works amazing now! I'd add a photo but dont see that feature for these posts...sorry.
Question:	Would the 10" version be suitable as an end vise
Answer:	When you close your vise When it is new it will close evenly across the jaws, However after some use they will "rack". This is caused by clamping things to one side of the jaws and not providing an even distribution of the clamping pressure. Also excessive pressure will cause racking. This is pretty normal on most vises, as most woodworkers do not use a second spacer to even out the clamping pressure. In a perfect world we would always clamp in the center of the jaws, and only use enough pressure to hold the work piece, and never hammer on our woodworking vise. But this is not a perfect world is it?

Answer:	This mat is very very soft and almost sticky. As a result it will stay in place on almost anything as well as keep anything on top from sliding, including dirt and debris. Maybe good for workbenches but I would definitely not recommend for floor mat as it would probably discolor or adversely affect the finish of a hardwood floor.

Answer:	Only the little pockets that hold screws have a "lite" magnetic field. enough to provide a small amount of hold but if you flipped it upside down it will hot hold them but to be fair it doesn't need to be helpful. Answer:	Yes so long as you cut dowel rods and install as shown in the manual. I use mine this way off the tail gate of a truck, and also on saw horses. The 2x4 sheets of 1/2 in plywood make it rigid with the dowels. There are little pockets to insert the dowel to keep them from moving.
Question:	How small can this be packed up? I need to travel with it on an airplane and want to know how much luggage space it would take up
Answer:	The box it comes in is about 12" x 12" x 4" so that would be as small as you could go I would think. However, if you installed the two pieces of plywood that are required to make it sturdy, it would then be 24" x 48" by about 2" thick with no other contents.
Question:	Does it have to be used hanging/standing? Or can it simply be setup on an existing table or desktop and used as a workstation in that way
Answer:	Yes. There are pockets you can slide props into, I use 3/8 dowel rods cut to the correct length to hold it open and use on table, or I use it a lot on my truck tailgate. Recommend this for anyone that is in construction.

Answer:	Nope, has a certain amount of friction in leg joints so it folds fairly easy but is still sturdy.

Question:	How is this really any better than the previous model? The new feet seem like they'd actually be more difficult to clamp to a table/bench
Answer:	That is the only downside to this fixture. You might try bolting the fixture down to a piece of plywood slightly larger than the fixtures base. Then you could clamp the assembly to your bench or table with a clamp.as for the older version of this item, I don't know. I have never used one .
Question:	whats the actual difference between the sjo 33309 and sjo 66690k
Answer:	It looks like you would be paying @ $27 for a set of thin pads that stick to the inside faces of the vice jaws. I have the 33309 with no pads. ($260) You can go to a big box craft store for a sheet of of closed cell foam for a few dollars. A 12x 18 inch piece is about $1.50 for 3mm or 5mm. One piece can be cut in half. I tie fly fishing flies and we buy this foam all of the time. If there is a special piece that you do not want to get marked, then slip a piece of the foam between the jaws and work piece. The Workbench is great by the way, first class.
