Answer:	The cord comes out the middle in a small gap and can either direction. This is so you can reverse the fan. So either way you have the fan installed (intake or outtake). The cord can come inside or outside if you wish.

Answer:	I think the other replies were with older models? I just purchased this model and there's no issue with opting out of the thermostat feature. As noted in the instructions, to get to continous air flow, you just keep clicking the button through the modes (first you click throught the various thermostat temperatures, and then you get to "high" or "low" as options. If you click high or low either one will stay on continously. Both options are extremely quiet. It sounds like the person who had a louid nose on the low setting had a defective fan.
Question:	I want to use this in a stand-alone one room dance studio with only one window. If it's very hot outside, will this really keep it cool inside
Answer:	It’s not an AC unit so it will only be as cool (or slightly less hot) as the air from the source. That being said you could use this fan on Exhaust to suck hot air out and use a tower fan to create a breeze in the room. But to cool a room on a 90+ degree day, I’d recommend a window AC. This fan will circulate air tho, so it’s not a bad place to start.

Answer:	This is our second window fan. I don't remember what brand/model etc our first fan was, but the CFM WAS WAY higher than this Holmes fan. Answer:	I’ve been using an older version of this fan for about 20, yup, 20 years. I use it in a garage studio. Sometimes it runs for months 24/7. It’s slowing down, tons of dirt and mysterious things on it. While it is exhaling i spray wd30 on it till it speeds up again, lol. I have absolutely punished this fan. But like I said, I run it all year, summer and winter. One side died about 4 years ago, but the other is running as we speak. The reason I saw this is because I was looking to see if they still made it. Yay they do; and it is very quiet. Next paycheck I’m getting a new one. I love the intake exhaust function,brilliant! So happy they’re still available. Can’t go wrong, and not a lot of money.

I used it a couple of times this spring and all features work as advertised. I am, however, waiting for our (state of Georgia) extremely hot and humid weather to see if it will cool my bedroom to my liking; but, with this unusual cool weather we've been having, it's taking longer to really tell if my fan will do the main job I purchased it to do. Question:	Is this fan easy to take down so one can clean the dust out properly? Is it made in America
Answer:	This fan is meant to mount permanently and cannot be removed after installation for cleaning. However, the grill is easily removable which will allow some cleaning. I believe this fan is made in the United States.
Question:	Can this be used in a downstairs bathroom
Answer:	I had this installed in my bathroom in my basement. They pulled the old one out of the ceiling and put this one in the existing hole in the ceiling.
Question:	Is there a way to turn off the sensor? Ours is in a bathroom we don't use and it's running frequently
Answer:	Thank you for your question on the model QTXE080 exhaust fan. The QTXE080 does not have a humidity sensor. The unit should be connected to a standard wall switch and should run as long as the switch is turned on. Question:	I need to replace an existing fan, what is the size of the housing? I assume this can be installed from inside the house, I have a first floor unit
Answer:	For the Broan QTXE080, the metal housing is 10-1/2" x 11-3/8" x 7-5/8". The two joist mounts run along the 11-3/8" side. The plastic grill is 13" x 13-3/4". It weights about 12 pounds. Just be sure to note that this uses a 6" diameter duct, whereas most older installations use a 4" duct.For my installations, I have one duct going out the ceiling on the 2nd floor bathroom, and one duct going out the side wall on the 1st floor bathroom. I had to cut the drywall a bit to screw in the joist mounts. My installations was to replace existing units that were cheap and noisy, this unit is really whisper quiet.

Question:	Is it loud? Can you have a conversation In front of it
Answer:	It's not very loud, yes you could have a conversation near it. Had to do a small adjustment to free the fan, due to repacking from a previous customer.
Question:	Can this be left on 24 hours/day in a utility closet
Answer:	Indefinitely, I am not sure, but it does run here in 100 degree+ temps for most of the 24 hour day and has done so for about 4 years. If the temps are not too high it might be like one of those machines that if it runs all the time it will go until the bearings go out after a bunch of years.
Question:	does this fan have a continuous duty motor
Answer:	I can only comment on the Broan 509 and the specs on their site spec sheet say "Continuous Operation: No". https://www.broan.com/Bath-Vent-Fan/Utility-Fans/Through-Wall-Fans/509 Also, the speed controller cannot be used with Impedance protected fans, and yet Broan suggest it for the install.
Question:	Is the 10" thickness the minimum, or can it be trimmed down
Answer:	When installed as directed--with all components unaltered--the minimum thickness is 9 inches. However, as other have indicated, you can reduce this further by trimming the metal components of the duct. In fact, if you managed to glue/seal the fan housing directly to the plastic vent cap, the whole assembly requires only 5 inches. So there are a lot of options to put this unit in a thinner wall. If you trim the duct work, just be sure you have means to tape/seal everything once it is in the wall. On the final step, the length of the flexible duct is what enables you to tape/seal all the connections on the exterior side before compressing everything back into the wall.
