So if you wanted a 20.5 x 20.5 you would select 20 height, 20 width, 1/2 fractional height. 1/2 fractional width. Please note to get the largest dimension offered 24x30 you must select 23" x 29" and then set the fraction selection to 1" for both height and width. We know this is less then ideal and might be confusing but unfortunately it was the best option working within the system Amazon provides for customization setup. Answer:	not sure this helps, but a safe minimum distance for me was mounting the bracket itself (to provide clearance for the fan 'head') 16" down from the ceiling and 16" from the corner. the instructions say 12" from the corner but no advice on how far from the ceiling.

Answer:	It would definitely be best if you could find a stud behind the drywall. The fan isn't all that heavy, but it moves. I would think that over time that could put enough stress on the drywall to crack it. Also, if you were to mount it in a place where it could get bumped, that might be problematic as well. Mine is out of the way, but I still manage to whack it periodically. Personally, I wouldn't mount it to nothing but drywall. You could probably get away with it for a while but I'd think that over time you'd have issues.

Answer:	No, I have never had a motor fail in my home, and I've used a high MERV filter for several years. I had a starting capacitor fail, but I think that was a faulty cap. (capacitor plague), and not over heating due to poor airflow. A clean higher MERV filter is probably going to allow more air flow than a dirty low MERV filter. Closed up registers and dirty trunking are also going to contribute.

Answer:	Due to the design of it, the lock bar most likely won't snap in place if anything is placed between the filter and the case. Some saw dust is normal. It's a design flaw unfortunately. Honestly haven't had any running issues from the way it is set up.

Answer:	Cold tap water. Don't use hot water in your humidifier. Some people use distilled water, but that's an expensive proposition if you're running the humidifier all day or all night long.

Answer:	I don't know what the demoralization cartridge 7531 is. My Boneco humidifier is an older one and the filter I used for it had to be replaced every month of so. This filter costs less and lasts much longer - mine was good for the entire winter.

Answer:	Susan, I personally wouldn't take a chance on weakening the integral cardboard "frame" of the filter by trying to downsize it. Seems to me you'd be better off buying a slightly smaller filter and fabricating some sort of filler to close the gap. Perhaps an air duct installer could suggest or provide an adapter to fit your needs. I won't bother asking how you came to have an "odd-sized" opening...

Answer:	I think you mean air flow resistance when you say "pressure". Assuming that, it depends on the capacity of your unit. I have a 2.5 ton newer unit and this filter works without causing any issues with flow resistance as long as it is changed regularly - every 2 to 3 months depending on the season and dust load. It will cause issues if you let it get too dirty, but that’s the tradeoff you make getting this fine particulate filter. You may want to consider a filter with a lower filtration level, like 600, if “pressure” on your system is a concern

Question:	does your filter slightly bow inside the air return? Is that ok
Answer:	Depends. When air is moving through the filter, it normally bows slightly, moreso over the weeks as it clogs up. When it is new and air is not moving, it should not bow, because that would mean it is not fitting. When mine bows like that, it means it got caught on a screwhead, and I use the end of a crowbar to shoehorn it over the head, and it straightens out. However, even if it doesn't fit a little bit, as long as the 4 edges have a good seal, bowing will not affect performance.

Answer:	NO, it is not, a TRUE H.E.P.A. filter, is 99.97% dust free down to 0.3 of a micron. However, a TRUE H.E.P.A. has been tested and can back up the claims made via a independent test done on that particular filter and can show you the testing data. NOTE THE PERIODS BETWEEN THE LETTERS. These filters are "HEPA LIKE", plus you are paying for the 3M name. Spend less get the same filtration.
Question:	My hvac system is 30 years old. I have an old magic chef one just wondering if this will be ok to use for it, we have a very musty smell in the house
Answer:	Well along performance difference .... filtrete and Honeywell are different sizes. 20x30x1 is a rounded number. So one could be 20.2” and another could be 20.4” Honeywell fits PERFECTLY in my system Filtrete same 20x30x1 ... does not. Be aware of that.
Question:	We have a problem with not enough air conditioning flow in the upper level of the house. Would this filter make that worse
Answer:	I do not know, I do not smoke. Keep in mind a lot of scents are embedded in the fabric of furniture, carpets, etc. All this is doing is filtering the air. I would still give it a shot though because it does work well for pets.
