User questions & answers
Question: | Why is there not an option for the size 14x30x |
Answer: | Take a look at filterbuy and see if you can find that size. |
Question: | My hvac system is 30 years old. I have an old magic chef one just wondering if this will be ok to use for it, we have a very musty smell in the house |
Answer: | A: If you haven't upgraded you system I would recommend starting at MERV 8 then going up or down depending on how your system responds. Unfortunately the manuals for the Magic Chef units are extinct. They've been purchased and merged into a handful of companies since the 80's. This link will provide a great resource about MERV ratings and what their best use is. I have horrible allergies so I use MERV 14 in one HVAC system. It's hospital quality. In our other house we use MERV 8 and it does well in our 10 year old unit. It catches a lot of dust and pet hair. It's a great middle ground. The higher the MERV rating the higher the cost, so experiment and see what works. United Filter : https://unitedfilter.com/merv-ratings |
Question: | We have a problem with not enough air conditioning flow in the upper level of the house. Would this filter make that worse |
Answer: | Two things can equalize upstairs and downstairs cooling. #1 If you don's have one, have a thermostatically controlled exhaust roof fan installed. They are the metal mushroom shaped things on roofs with fans inside, they exhaust the super-heated air out of the attic and make a huge difference in upstairs comfort b/c that blanket of 110 degree or more air is now at least closer to the actual outside temp. #2 Set your circulation fan to run all the time vs. turning off after every cooling cycle. Set "FAN" switch to ON vs. AUTO. If your source and return registers are working good then now the temperature of the house won't tend to "stratify" or get layered when the downstairs thermostat is happy but the truth is there's a large temp diff between floors b/c heat rises. Running the fan will help to keep cycling the whole house air and keep it mixed. Plus it gives the thermostat better knowledge of what's really going on. But, I can't stress enough on the roof fan. |
Question: | Im wondering how much flow this filter cuts back, i currently use the 2200 filters with no problem anyone had any experience yet |
Answer: | from what I have read the pressure drop of the 3M 2800 (merv 14, 97%) is .24 psi. the 2200 is I think .20 to .22 psi for the 3M filters. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this filter have wire reinforcement on the front and the back |
Answer: | I swear, I know of another website that has masks that are cheaper, breathable, 100% cotton, cleanable, reusable, adjustable ear straps, and most importantly, they have filter bags. Masks for children are available. Hoping to help people in need. Gõõglẹ sẹạrch >> gõsbüy |
Question: | In what country are they made |
Answer: | Can't find an answer to your question. I looked all over the filter and no country of origin is stated.Maybe on the outer wrapper of the set but that was long ago removed and discarded.Sorry but no answer. |
Question: | Discribtion says $4.00 a pack which leads you believe there are serveral filters included. I only received 2 filters so that makes them over |

Question: | Is filtrete allergic to using the better known merv rating system |
Answer: | I am not sure I fully understand your question. When it comes to merv rating you need to balance your filter needs/wants vs efficiency. The higher the merv the smaller the particles filtered, but the higher your power use as your air handler has to work harder to pull through the finer filter. According to the USGBC LEED standards, a minimum of merv 13 must be used for all recirculated air.Merv 6 = 300 mprMerv 8 = 600 mprMerv 11 = 1000-1200 mpr (this filter)Merv 13 = 1500-1900 mpr.I chose this filter because it seemed like a reasonable compromise of filtration, efficiency and cost.I hope this helps. :) |

User questions & answers
Question: | The description states "filtrete micro allergen defense filter, mpr 1000..." but the picture shows mpr 1550....which one are you buying |
Answer: | What size filter are you looking for? This listing has 3 choices - both of the choices that have a description of mpr 1550 are actually called allergen reduction filters & clearly state that they are mpr 1550. I use one of these sizes & always get the 1550. If you need 16X25X4 it's called allergen defense filter mpr 1000. I couldn't find any other statement in the description that listed the mpr - so to me it's unclear. You might want to contact amazon customer support to verify the mpr, but also, the product can be returned if it's not what you were looking for. |
Question: | What are the dimensions of the filters? The product image shows 4" deep (20x25x4), but the option is only 1" deep (20x25x |
Answer: | The one I purchased was 20x25x4. If you only have option for 1 inch thick, then it sounds like they are out of the 4 inch version. |
Question: | Never had an air conditioner or furnace so I have a rather silly question. How can I tell when the filter needs changing - dirty on the backside |
Answer: | When it gets dirty on the air intake side. Don't wait for it to get caked with dust as this will cut down on air flow and make your furnace/air conditioner work harder to reach your desired temperature. Filter vendors often recommend changing 4 times per year, but your mileage may vary depending on how much you heat and cool and the cleanliness of the air being moved. I change about 3 times per year, but I could go to twice. Do you change your car filter? How dirty does that get? Be sure the actual size of the filter is correct for your blower. Filtrete nominal sizes and actual sizes differ. I got stuck with 4 filters I can not use. I bought the size 16x25x4, but the end of the filter has the actual size: 16 x 24 1/2 x 4 1/2. the 4 1/2" dimension is too large to fit. |
Question: | what is the Merv Rating and how do you convert 1550 MPR to a Merv rating |
Answer: | While I am not sure the Filtrete Allergen Reduction Filter is exactly the same as the Filtrete filter shown in the following commercial website, the table shows a MERV of 11 for a MPR of 1500. All the products seem to be 1" rather than 4." I don't know if that affects the MERV. http://www.iallergy.com/filtrete-air-filter-comparison.phpThe bottom of this commercial website page also describes the relationship of MERV, MPR, and FPR ratings for AC and furnace filters:http://www.bestfilters.com/AC-Furnace-Filters_c_605.htmlBased on my reading of the table, a MERV of 11 seems consistent with MPR of 1550. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Where are they made |
Answer: | When I had one of these I had to wash it with 409 and let it sit for about five minutes and then hit it with a shower head for pressure and it always came out beautifully |
Question: | These came in an amazon box with no wrapping of any kind. Wouldn’t it be bad for a filter to not be protected from particles |
Answer: | I have 2 5T units in house that uses this filter and after changing many various Mfr filters which all seemed to work comparably well and about the same in last 21+ years, never once did I ever think about counting pleats. All I ever counted was the price! Did I miss something?? Bill |
Question: | Do these merv 11 filters have enough air flow for any furnace |
Answer: | Yep |
Question: | Does it a Space Guard |
Answer: | The N95 masks are the equivalent to a MERV 16. Our MERV 13 filters are made with a 100% synthetic filter media with a wire backing glued in a cardboard frame. There are no harmful materials in the MERV 13 media itself. If you use the media it will not filter as small of a partical as the N95 but it help filter out 1.0–0.3 μm particle size. These filters can filter bacteria, droplet nuclei (sneeze), cooking oil, most smoke and insecticide dust, most face powder, and most paint pigments. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this 2 two packs for a total of four filters? Or two filters total |
Answer: | TWO PACKS means TWO . You must check the box stating how many filters you wish to buy, either 2 or 4 or 6. Hope this helps! |
Question: | Has anyone experienced any issues with blower motors going out due to the merv 13 restricting air flow? my hvac guy said it happened to his customers |
Answer: | No, I have never had a motor fail in my home, and I've used a high MERV filter for several years. I had a starting capacitor fail, but I think that was a faulty cap. (capacitor plague), and not over heating due to poor airflow. A clean higher MERV filter is probably going to allow more air flow than a dirty low MERV filter. Closed up registers and dirty trunking are also going to contribute. |
Question: | where can i find the static pressure chart including airflow as well as pressure drop |
Answer: | The credit goes to the gentlemen who posted the answer in https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1N62EHZET52S7/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_viewpnt?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00TUDHPQK#R1N62EHZET52S7 The complete response from 3M below: Generally speaking, for most residential HVAC systems, the filter will become restrictive when it reaches a .5 pressure drop. All of our filter media fibers are polypropylene and polyolefin plastic which will remove particles that measure 3 to 10 microns. Microparticle Performance Rating (MPR), MERV Ratings, and pressure drops are as follows: Elite Extra 2400 3-10 microns - 96% MERV 13 pressure drop .21 Elite Allergen 2200 3-10 microns - 94% MERV 12 pressure drop .18 Maximum/Ultimate Allergen 1900 3-10 microns - 93% MERV 12 pressure drop .16 Allergen Deep Pleat 1550 (4"). 3-10 microns 97% MERV 12 pressure drop .12 Ultra Allergen 1500 310 microns - 90% MERV 12 pressure drop .15 Odor Reduction 1200 3-10 microns - 85% MERV 11 pressure drop .24 Micro Allergen 1000 3-10 microns - 80% MERV 11 pressure drop .21 Dust & Pollen 600 3-10 microns - 65% MERV 7 pressure drop .20 Dust Reduction 300 3-10 microns -35% MERV 6 pressure drop .20 Flat Panel 3-10 microns -5% MERV 1 Pressure Drop .08 Pressure drop is a measure of air flow resistance. It is measured by inches of Water Column (W.C.) at 300 feet per minute (FPM). Clean/new filters are not restrictive to air flow. Filters will become restrictive if they are not changed when needed. A filter's life is actually determined by the user's living conditions and will vary for every user. Generally speaking, we recommend changing filters approximately every 3 mo nths. To determine when the filter needs to be change, we suggest holding it up to the light. When you cannot see light through the filter, it is ready to be changed, even if it is before 3 months. If you are concerned about airflow, you might want to use the filter with a lower pressure drop. If you have a high velocity furnace with high fan speed, you may need to change the filters more frequently, every 1.5 to 2 months. |
Question: | Is this a single package of 6filters, OR is it 6 packages with each package having 6 filters |
Answer: | It is a box with 6 filters in it. Normally these things retail for $19+ ea(Filter rating is 1900 by the way-as the packaging it came in did not state that although the Amazon description did). |

The Filtrete 2200 MPR Elite allergen reduction filter not only vastly improves the air quality in your home, it also keeps your air conditioning and heating systems running efficiently, saving on utilities and maintenance costs. The electrostatic filter attracts and captures airborne dust, pollen, dust-mite debris, lint, mold spores, pet dander, smoke, smog, bacteria, particles that can carry viruses, and particles that carry odors. With each pass through the specially pleated filter, the air in your living space improves, making for a healthier home environment. This high-performance filter outperforms comparable non-electrostatic fiberglass and washable and reusable one-inch filters.
|
![]() The Elite allergen reduction filter's fibers attract air-polluting contaminants (view larger). |
![]() By removing dust from the air, the filter also reduces strain on your furnace and air conditioner, helping to keep them running efficiently (view larger). |
The 3M Elite allergen reduction filter is made with both positively charged and negatively charged fibers that act like tiny magnets to attract air-polluting contaminants. Since particles in the air are either positively or negatively charged, they are attracted to and captured by the filter and kept out of your living space.
Electrostatic filters, including the 3M Elite allergen reduction filter, perform better than comparable non-electrostatic fiberglass and washable/reusable filters, because they attract and capture the small, allergy-aggravating microparticles that non-electrostatic filters can't.
Improves Indoor Air Quality
With indoor air a surprising two to five times more polluted than outdoor air, the 3M Elite allergen reduction filter can make a difference in maintaining a healthier home environment by cleaning air with each pass through the filter.
The 3M Elite allergen reduction filter features a 2200 Microparticle Performance Rating (MPR), which means it is able to capture large and small particles from the air, including household dust, pollen, dust-mite debris, mold spores, pet dander, smoke, smog, bacteria, particles that can carry viruses, and particles that carry odors. This high-performance filter meets the American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest Health House Program's indoor air quality guidelines.
Improves Efficiency
This high-performance allergen-reduction filter also keeps your heating and air conditioning equipment working efficiently by removing dirt and reducing strain on the motor. It is recommended that you change the filter every three months. However, the effectiveness and life of the filter can vary and depend on the individual conditions in your home.

User questions & answers
Question: | does anyone have a whistling sound coming from air duct |

Question: | What’s the model number |
Answer: | Our SKU for this product is: P80S.042025.MKT - The actual size of this filter is 19 1/2" x 24 1/2" x 3 3/4", please ensure this is the size you need before you order. Customer Care Department at Air Filters Delivered - SAM |
Question: | do the number of pleats really matter |
Answer: | The act of filtering air actually slows down the flow, so to help make up for the reduced airflow they add pleats which significantly increases the surface area of the filter, which increases the flow without reducing the filtration. Fewer pleats = less surface area = reduced air filtration per minute. More pleats = more surface area = increased air filtration per minute. So yes, the number of pleats matters. More pleats are *usually* a sign of a higher quality filter, but not always -- you can put a lot of pleats into a crappy filter too, but most don't. |
Question: | i have used the filter for 6 months but doesn't see like it is dirty, does that indicate it is not working well? thanks |
Answer: | I can tell you I bought these filters because my wife has allergies and we hoped that these filters would help keep junk out of the air and help her coughing. And it has, for us anyway! We have three returns int he house and have these filters in all three. We change them every 90 days and sometimes they do look dirty and other times they don't; depends on how much your symtem runs. |

Product description
Nordic Pure MERV 12 Pleated AC Furnace Air Filters provide exceptional filtration for both home and commercial environments. Each time air passes through a Nordic Pure pleated furnace air filter, lint, dust, pollen, bacteria, pet dander, dust mites, mold spores, smoke particles, virus carriers, allergens and other contaminants are removed. MERV 12 furnace filters are comparable to HVAC filters with the rating of MPR 1500-1900 or FPR 9. While different companies use different scales to measure the air filter’s efficiency, Nordic Pure chose to follow the industry standard, MERV, as developed by ASHRAE (the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioner Engineers). No matter the name of the rating, the efficiency of all air filters is rated according to the same criteria as set forth by ASHRAE. Nordic Pure furnace air conditioner filters are manufactured using a heavy duty, moisture resistant beverage board frame. As with all Nordic Pure furnace air conditioner filters, the material is electrostatically charged to attract unwanted particles. The media used will not promote the growth of bacteria or mold on the air filter and is better at trapping airborne particles than fiberglass filters. Our attention to the smallest of details results in a healthier living space. For fresh, clean air in your home and office, it is important to regularly change your AC filter, especially during home improvements. We recommend changing your HVAC furnace filter every 1-3 months, depending on your unique home or office environment. People with pets or those who suffer from allergies should change their A/C air filters more often. Replacing your air filter regularly not only improves indoor air quality, it helps your HVAC unit perform more efficiently. Important Note: Almost all air condition filters have a different Actual Size (the exact dimensions) than Nominal Size (the name) printed on the air conditioning filter. It is best to measure the exact size of your A/C filter and compare it to our Actual Size to be sure your HVAC replacement filter fits!
From the Manufacturer
Nordic Pure 16x25x4 MERV 12 Pleated AC Furnace Air Filters. Actual Size: 15-1/2-Inch by 24-1/2-Inch by 3-3/4-Inch. Changing your air filter is the first step in insuring your HVAC system runs at its optimal level this season. Generally, you should change your 4-Inch air filters every 3 to 6 months. Particles in indoor air are measured in microns, which are 1/1000 of a millimeter. A human hair is about 100 microns wide. A Nordic Pure air filter captures airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns! Nordic Pure air filters do not kill germs, however, the filter media does not permit the growth of bacteria or mold. As a result, it is not necessary to add any potentially irritating chemicals to the air filter to kill germs. Nordic Pure air filters are made out of an electro statically-charged synthetic material that draws airborne particulates to it like a magnet. Electrostatic filters help trap airborne particles to protect your family from allergy causing pollen, fine dust, smoke particles, airborne plant spores, bacteria, and some viruses.
- Actual Size: 15 1/2 x 24 1/2 x 3 5/8 (15. 5 x 24. 5 x 3. 63)
- Attracts indoor allergens, dust, pollen and other airborne contaminants.
- Hypoallergenic and pleated electrostatic filter material. Antimicrobial
- Nordic Pure recommends changing 4" air filters every 3-6 months

User questions & answers
Question: | How long is this supposed to last before replacement |
Answer: | Twice per year or every 6 months. We were told to replace filters with our Autumn and Spring system checks. That's not to say we haven't used them just fine for an entire year... if you don't have pets or a lot of construction in the area or dust they'll probably do okay do for a year. I prefer to change them at 6 months, my husband prefers annually. |
Question: | What's the difference between Merv 8 and Merv 12? Which one is better and why |
Answer: | Good morning. A MERV 12 picks up more particulate than a MERV 8 but can also place more restriction on your system. A MERV 8 is a commonly used household MERV and gets most household particulate. The 12 will collect a finer particulate as well as pet dander, tobacco smoke, auto emissions, firewood smoke, and fine dust. It just depends on your particular needs. However, if your system is older a 12 may place too much air restriction. |
Question: | I bought this to replace a honeywell filter. it does not fit snug. should i use it or no? i don't want to damage my system |
Answer: | Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't give the full details from Nordic Pure, the manufacturer, which tells you this is not a replacement for Honeywell or Filtrete 16x25x4 and you need to order the 16x25x5 for these replacements. On our website we say: * If you are using a Filtrete filter Click Here to order our 16x25x5 Honeywell/Lennox Replacement air filters. * Measure your current air filter and compare with the Actual Size of this item to make sure you order the correct filter. IMPORTANT Note: Air filters have an actual size that is a fraction of an inch smaller than the standard size (also known as "nominal size"). The size printed on your air filter may NOT be the Actual Size. With the 4" and 5" air filters there is a wider variance between the nominal size and actual size for the different manufacturers. Because of this, the air filter you are replacing could be called a 16x25x4 but really be the same as our 16x25x5. If you are currently using a 16x25x4 Filtrete filter in your Honeywell unit you should order our 16x25x5 Honeywell Replacement that measures 15 3/4 x 24 3/4 x 4 3/8 (15.75x24.75x4.38). This is why we ask you to measure your air filter so you aren't surprised if the air filter doesn't fit! |
Question: | Received. concerned filters look generic. no label saying nordic pure. more concerning, nothing saying merv 12. would like reply from manufacturer |
Answer: | I suggest you go right to the questions for seller to receive this reply. Any I have always purchased as NORDIC Pure are clearly labeled as such. Be conscious of wording that says " Works like Nordic Pure" for less etc. Fine print can trip you up, but Amazon does not stand for that. Make sure you get what you pay for Nordic Pure is Nordic Pure not an imitation filter even made to the same specs. |

User questions & answers
Question: | smoke smell |
Answer: | I do not know, I do not smoke. Keep in mind a lot of scents are embedded in the fabric of furniture, carpets, etc. All this is doing is filtering the air. I would still give it a shot though because it does work well for pets. |
Question: | what is the MERV rating |
Answer: | what is a MERV rating |
Question: | I purchased 6 of these filters less than a year ago for $58, why has the price been increased by almost |
Answer: | It is (2) packs of two filters. Total of (4) Says $16 per twin pack next to “add to cart” price. So this deal is actually cheaper than what you previously paid. Basically $8 each instead of nearly $10 each |
Question: | air flow direction - always thought the black carbon was the first layer from the intake - but doesn't show like that on package |
Answer: | The carbon particles are on the back side, yup, and they fall off. Do yourself a favor and buy a different filter and then buy one of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000U204W2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (which are very good by the way). The filter you are asking about also seems to have a very mild odor (maybe from the glue they spray on to hold the carbon particles on, not sure). The filter material itself is also almost like hair or fiberglass or something - suffice to say the whole design of the filter is just comically bad if you asked me. I tried installing the filter backwards (carbon side out) but the filter material started coming off and being sucked into the air duct. As mentioned, the carbon particles fall off all over the place, even with gentle handing of the filters. From an engineering standpoint, this filter is an absolute disgrace and should have never made it past even the R&D stage. I highly doubt much of the carbon or whatever they have attempted to adhere to the backside is doing much. An inexpensive carbon filter pad and a traditional replaceable filter work far, far better. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does your filter slightly bow inside the air return? Is that ok |
Answer: | Depends. When air is moving through the filter, it normally bows slightly, moreso over the weeks as it clogs up. When it is new and air is not moving, it should not bow, because that would mean it is not fitting. When mine bows like that, it means it got caught on a screwhead, and I use the end of a crowbar to shoehorn it over the head, and it straightens out. However, even if it doesn't fit a little bit, as long as the 4 edges have a good seal, bowing will not affect performance. |
Question: | Title says mpr 600, description says mpr 300. which is it |
Answer: | The package I got are 600's |
Question: | Frustration-Free Packaging vs standard packaging |
Answer: | HAD TO THROW ALL 6 OF THESE IN THE TRASH DUE TO SHIPPING DAMAGE,AMAZON WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP |
Question: | Are these real filtrete brand filters? I am worried that Amazon is selling fake products |
Answer: | Yes they are REAL 3M filters. I've never got anything "fake" from Amazon. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work to filter the smoke from forest fires across the state |
Answer: | Per ASHRAE, yes, a MERV 15 air filter will filter out smoke and ash. Keep in mind, however, there is nothing short of a clean room to remove the odor completely. Thank you for your inquiry. We appreciate your business! |
Question: | does this filter fit a "lennox" furnace |
Answer: | Most Lennox units take a 4 3/8 depth filter. That would be the Nordic Pure 20x20x5. AC Furnace filters have both a nominal size and an actual size. It is best to either measure the cavity where the filter goes or use the measurements of your existing filter. |
Question: | Are the filters delivered in a sealed plastic or just lose in a box and are there any assurances that we will not receive a returned filter |
Answer: | Cannot speak for everyone receiving this filter but mine arrived sealed in plastic wrap inside a cardboard box, |
Question: | On this webpage the description says BOX of 2 but the Tech. details says ITEM PACKAGE QUANTITY 1. WHICH IS IT 1 or |
Answer: | I got 2 in 1 Box great deal since our service tech wanted to charge us 40$ for 1 filter |
