The Conduit (flexible cable) can be used from your previous motor simply by un-screwing it and putting it on your new motor. Lomanco motor comes with universal mounting kit to replace the flat plate (with 3 mounting holes). lomanco motor does not have the flat plate sandwiched in between motor laminations. If your motor mounts with a belly band around the motor (5" diameter motor), this motor should work fine. How To Measure A Grille

Overall Size:

Measure the size of the air duct/drywall opening. Do not measure the overall size of the register itself, only measure the "hole" in the wall/duct. Every grille has a front end frame, that will overlap at wall joint.

Total outer size of this grille is; listed size +1.5".



Width vs Height

The first number in a grille size, represents the width, the second number represents the height. Example: If your hole is 20" wide by 14" tall, order a 20x14. If your hole is 14" wide by 20" tall, order a 14x20.

Question:	Other Sundown gable vents are also polypropylene but they are said to be paintable. Why not this one? Paintable or not
Answer:	Only gable vents that are "Paintable" have no colorant added to the plastic mix which allows them to be paintable. You can paint the white vents, but they need to be primed using very specialized primer and even then the paint may scratch off. We have done it in our factory using various primers (ZINSSER) with some success and also we have used KRYLON colormaster spray with works well on Vinyl/plastic. Krylon (for plastic/vinyl) I would recommend as it did do a decent job after it cured to be scratch resistant.

Answer:	I wonder if you can remove the blade and turn it around so the fan is sucking air over the motor in stead of blowing it out. Of course you would not be able to use the louvers because they will not open, will need a grille instead?
Question:	Why do I need a attic fan
Answer:	Depends on where you live. If you are in a region that does not have hot summers, then you may not need an attic fan as you can address any ventilation needs through other means. However, if you live anywhere it gets over 90 or so several weeks/months a year, then an attic fan will be well worth the investment (most likely). If you have ever been in your attic when it is over 80 degrees (much less 90 or higher), then you understand the heat that builds up. Attic fans, with adequate ventilation - as then need to pull air through the attic, can dramatically lower the temperature and thus your cooling bills.

Answer:	Not likely, the bearing only works if it's perfectly level. There's some articulation in the mount to keep it level, but definitely not 90 deg.

Answer:	The vent comes with instructions showing how to set the correct pitch for your roof style. This is not only for a flat roof installation.

Question:	Can rodents (specifically roof rats) gain entry through the vent
Answer:	That would be difficult as these things r constantly spinning. What I did was put a fine wire mesh in the attic under the hole that was cut to prevent wasps from entering. Stapled it and have had no issues.

Installation Instructions

To determine roof pitch, place gauge on peak of roof as shown. Position straight edge as shown. Read roof pitch from printed gauge parallel to bottom of straight edge.

Align roof pitch number on elbow with the indicator line on the base flashing. Place 3 screws through holes that line up with predrilled holes in base.

Locate base opening between rafters and mark hole to be cut. Locate rafters by tapping roof. Cut hole as marked. Seal around entire perimeter of hole with roofing cement.

Slide top half of flashing under shingles. Secure with nails at top, sides and bottom. Rotate top of elbow to level position by turning counter clockwise. Place locking clamp across seam and tighten as shown with included screw.

Seal the adjusting seam and the base/elbow connection seam on inside with roofing cement. Seal locking clamp holes and all exposed nails with roofing cement. Position the Whirlybird turbine head on the base. Line up the predrilled holes in the brackets and elbow and fasten with sheet metal screws.

Question:	do you have to oil it
Answer:	Oiling the motor once or twice a year will extend the life of the motor. If the motor requires oiling, oil ports or openings will be located on both motor end plates. Use a SAE 20 non-detergent motor oil.
Question:	Has anyone retrofitted one of these to a roof vent
Answer:	I did one in a gable vent, it comes with nice instructions. I mounted it on a piece of plywood then mounted two 2x4s to the gable vent framing then mounted the plywood to the 2x4. It was easy, my 12 yr old son and I did it in 30 minutes. It was summer time in the attic so we wanted to do it fast. I bought a cheap extension and cut off one end and wired it to the leads then ran it to an outlet in the attic.
Question:	How long is the thermostat wiring. How far will it reach away from the fan
Answer:	Wiring on the fan thermostat is very short about 12" or so. I rewired it and moved the thermostat to a location about 25 feet away. This allows me to set the thermostat without having to crawl down the entire length of the attic.
Question:	The 2500 cfm fan uses less power than the 1500 cfm? and haf of the 1600 cfm? Am I missing something here
