Flooring finish compound, also known as floor finish or floor sealer, is a specialized product used in the construction and maintenance of flooring surfaces. It falls under the category of building materials and is commonly used in the building and home improvement industries. Here is what you should know about flooring finish compound:
Purpose: Flooring finish compound is applied to various types of flooring materials to provide a protective and decorative layer. Its primary purpose is to enhance the appearance of the floor while offering durability and resistance to wear and damage.
Types of Flooring: This compound is used on a wide range of flooring surfaces, including hardwood, laminate, vinyl, concrete, and tile. The specific type of finish compound used depends on the flooring material and the desired finish.
Sealing and Protecting: Flooring finish compound creates a sealed surface that helps protect the underlying floor from stains, water damage, scratches, and general wear and tear. It acts as a barrier between the flooring material and external factors.
Enhancing Appearance: In addition to protection, floor finish compounds are designed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the floor. They can provide a glossy, matte, or satin finish, depending on the desired look.
Application Methods: Flooring finish compounds are typically applied using a roller, brush, or applicator pad. The application process may require multiple coats, with each coat being allowed to dry before applying the next.
Drying Time: The drying time varies depending on the type of finish compound and environmental conditions. Some products dry quickly, while others may require more time to cure fully.
Maintenance: Maintaining a floor with finish compound involves routine cleaning and periodic recoating. Over time, the finish may wear down, especially in high-traffic areas, and need to be reapplied to maintain the floor's appearance and protection.
Types of Finish Compounds: There are different types of floor finish compounds available, including water-based and oil-based finishes. Each type has its own set of advantages and may be better suited to certain types of flooring.
Safety: When applying flooring finish compound, it's essential to follow safety guidelines, including providing adequate ventilation, wearing appropriate protective gear, and disposing of used materials properly.
Environmental Considerations: Some flooring finish compounds are formulated to be environmentally friendly, with low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). These products are less harmful to indoor air quality and the environment.
In summary, flooring finish compound is a crucial component in the construction and maintenance of flooring surfaces. It not only provides protection against wear and damage but also enhances the appearance of the floor. The choice of finish compound depends on the type of flooring material and the desired finish, making it an important consideration for anyone involved in building or renovating flooring surfaces.

Question: | What does it mean "pack of |
Answer: | I was wondering the same thing, but I just did a comparison with other products I've been using for a while. Generally, the off-the-shelf polishes and glazes come in 8oz bottles. These are half that size. I do a full detail of my car twice a year and usually get 3 years out of a bottle... 6 full jobs. So, I'm betting that you'd get 3 or 4 full details out of each bottle in this kit. |
Question: | Which Betco product is used to refinish hardwood floors |
Answer: | Hi Kevin, the sample sizes should be plenty of product to finish your vehicle. You only use 4 -5 pea size drops on the hexlogic pads.Start with the orange cutting pad and use V34 cutting polish. Follow this with the white pad and V36. Finish with the black polishing pad and V38 polishing compound. Question: | Can you add color pigment to this |
Answer: | They work on paint and clearcoat about the same way different grades of sandpaper work on wood. You start with a more abrasive 'starting' compound which removes noticeable issues in your car's paint. However, doing this will leave obvious swirl marks all over your car. Ever see a car that when the light hits it the right way, the sides have obvious orbital buffer marks all along the side? That's because the detailer only did the first step and then waxed it.To avoid that problem you move to the next, less abrasive, compound to remove the marks that the previous compound left. Each compound smooths the paint out a bit more, and eventually you end up with a glass-like surface. It's a bit of work. Even with an orbital polisher it will likely take you an hour for each step. And you WILL need an orbital polisher unless you have forearms that would make Popeye jealous. The point is that your car will only look its best if you get the paint as smooth and blemish-free as possible BEFORE you put on any wax. Wax will only protect the paint. It won't make it look better, aside from being a little shinier for a few days. If you follow this procedure your car can look stunning for weeks or months. I have a 13 year old Audi with black paint (easily the hardest paint to keep looking good). I've been doing this procedure since it was brand new, and people still frequently tell me how nice my car looks. Also note that the heavier cutting compounds might only be needed once. If you get the paint smoothed out, AND take care of it (wash and clean it with decent quality microfiber cloths only), you should be able to skip the first one or two steps of this package from then on and only need to use the lighter compounds on subsequent detail jobs. For that reason, it might not make sense to buy a regular size bottle of the heavy duty stuff. |
Question: | Can i add thinner to the first layer |
Answer: | Not designed for multi color areas, it will blend the paint colors. |
Question: | How do you repair a scratch after this product has cured |
Answer: | In my opinion the cabuna is better especially on black vehicles |
Question: | Can this be used over previously polyurethanes floors |
Answer: | Use rubbing alcohol to remove wax. |
Question: | Is this a clear gloss finish |
Answer: | I do put a good coat of wax after. I don't know if it's required or not, but I do. |
Question: | First review mentions a Mega hardener. Not shown on product list. Where do you get it and does it help final finish |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the difference between forbo "residential floor finish" (sold to me as gloss finish) and forbo "gloss marmoleum floor finish"? thanks |
Answer: | It would depend on the kind of plastic used either Acrlic or Poly carbonate. If either is coated to prevent scratching the coating may be the cause of the haze. And should be removed before polishing, normally you ues a Base solution, like caustic soda to remove most comerical, coatings used today in manufacturing. I think that the Novus would work, and it also depends on the depth of the haze. Also to recoat a product used to recoat plastic head lamps should work. Member of the SPE. PE |
Question: | Would this be the product to use to fill in a scratch or cut in marmoleum |
Answer: | It may help if it's acrylic or plexiglass. It would have to be a *very* fine scratch. It won't do anything for a glass screen. (Not sure how it could make a glass scratch worse lol) |
Question: | Is this product primarily for residential or commercial use |
Answer: | That would depend on what kind of plastic the spoons are made from. Acrylic is the best for polishing, you can polish Poly carbonate but it will not be as clear and would take more work. Make sure the hard coating if any is present is removed before polishing |
Question: | How many sq ft does a bottle cover |
Answer: | I do not think so. I used this for my plastic rear window of my BMW. I would perhaps look at a yellow can of SC Johnson's paste wax. I have an acrylic table and the SC Johnson Paste wax did an OK job, not great. Very hard to find out how to take out scratches unless you do a complete refinish. |
Question: | How does this compare to Bona Traffic, which cost about $40 more |
Answer: | I didn't try to use it on headlights, only on the plastic covering of my windshield. Didn't do much of anything there. |
Question: | What sealer should i use under this finish on red oak floors.? we want them to look as natural as possible and really highlight the grain |
Answer: | It is only meant to clean and polish out light scratches in different types of clear plastic. |
Question: | Does this product contain aluminum oxide? Is the finish safe enough for kids to play on? How long did it take to completely off-gas |
Answer: | Often plastic lens eyeglasses have a coating on them. That is softer and scratches easily. Using this product on those glasses will make it worse. It will remove the coating. Yes I have tried it and found out the hard way. However, on untreated plastic, like safety glasses, it worked fine for me. |
Question: | does product have an odor |
Answer: | Just rub against the buffing wheel and it will deposit on the wheel. |
Question: | Do you have a trick how to get the wax at the bottom to stir in |
Answer: | I doubt it. It will allow you to make the finish shinier, but to smooth the rough cut, I suggest a file. |
Question: | Is this oil based or water based |
Answer: | No. Use a glass cooktop cleaner. It has fine abrasives of the correct hardness for cleaning without hazing the glass. It also has a fine waxy polish that brings back a nice shine and survives heat better than car wax. |
Question: | is it 500-600 sf/gl with one coat? How many coats are suggested |
Answer: | Blue and red are for precious metals. http://www.caswellplating.com/buffman.htm |
Question: | Is it food safe? Thinking about using for a tongue and groove flooring counter top |
Answer: | No, this product was designed specifically for use with a rotary buffer and may have issues or simply be ineffective with a DA polisher. If you need something similar for use with a DA you really should consider our new M110 Ultra Pro Speed Compound. |
