The Markwort Speed Sensor Softball has amazing built-in technology, constructed for years of use, and includes a battery-life to last for 60,000 throws.
Understanding the modes and what appears in the LCD window can help you get the best use out of the ball. There are modes, a countdown timer, a patented grip sensor on the entire surface, speed sensor, and more. All of these features are accessible with the START button. See instructions below for more details.
INSTRUCTIONS
How to use the Speed Sensor Softball:
1. MEASURE THE TRAINING AREA: To get an accurate MPH readout of your throw, measure the distance in your training area from the pitcher to the catcher (Options programmed in the ball: 40 ft, 43 ft, and 46 ft).
2. KNOW THE "START BUTTON" FUNCTIONS: The START button has two modes, "Distance Mode" and "Grip Sensors Mode". The LCD window displays the results of each mode.
3. Turn ON and Activate "DISTANCE MODE": Press and hold down the START button to turn on the LCD window, and continue holding down to toggle through each programmed number from Step 1 above. Release the start button when you see your matching distance appear.
4. Activate "GRIP SENSORS MODE": Press the start button until the LCD window goes blank; approximately 1-2 seconds. You have now activated the Grip Sensors for the entire surface of the ball (it stays active for 1-minute).
5. GRIP, VERIFY & THROW: You have 1-minute to grip the ball, verify you see 4 dotted lines in the LCD window (like this: - - - -), and then throw the Speed Sensor Ball. The built-in Speed Sensor starts recording your throw as soon as the ball leaves your hand.
6. CHECK YOUR SPEED: Your MPH will appear on the LCD window. What is your fastest speed?
Tips:
- It is very important to program the correct distance into the ball so you can get an accurate MPH reading for your throws made in the training area.
- At step #5 above, while in "Grip Mode", when you grip the ball a dashed line symbol appears on the LCD like this: - - - - , which means it is ready to throw.
- When you remove your grip while in "Grip Mode", the LCD window will go blank.
- If time runs out at #5, you will see the distance number displayed in the LCD window; simply go to #4 to activate the "Grip Sensors Mode" again.
- After a few minutes of inactivity, the Speed Sensor Ball shuts itself off.
- The Speed Sensor Ball is made for throwing and pitching only; NOT for hitting with a bat or any object. It is not made to throw against any hard surface. Do not expose to water or extreme humidity as it will damage the electronic circuitry.
Established in 1931 --- MARKWORT THROUGH THE GENERATIONS
Markwort Sporting Goods is a third-generation family business in St. Louis, Missouri who sells sports equipment to retailers and distributors throughout the United States and internationally to approximately 50 nations on six continents, but had a modest start in The Great Depression. In 1931, a young 14-year-old tennis player, Herb Markwort learned to restring his own rackets because he could not afford to pay someone else to do it. He earned a dollar by restringing a fellow player’s racket. Herb soon started doing this for others on his parents’ back porch in St. Louis, prompting a nosy neighbor to ask if he had a license. He went downtown the next day to get one and Markwort Sporting Goods was born. Herb's son and grandsons continue to forge their entrepreneurial patriarch's vision in the current day.

Question: | Is the nylon strap sturdy enough to last for longterm use (years)? How is it attached to the cannister? Can it be replaced if it breaks |
Answer: | Very sturdy. Anything can break but you would have to purposely try to pull it apart for something to get damaged. Not quite sure how it is attached but my daughter's pitching coach has all his girls use it to warm up. It looks like it has plenty of wear on it and it does not show signs of breaking. |
Question: | What is the difference between this Xelerator and the original one by the company |
Answer: | Its a little bit heavier |
Question: | Does this tool help with consistency |
Answer: | In arm speed and tight rotation. |
Question: | Is this product helpful for beginner sofball pitcher |
Answer: | Yes. It helps with keeping the arm straight to get her in proper form. My daughter struggled with keeping her arm straight and didn't realize it for many years. It was tough to get her out of the habit and it definitely helped. It also build arm strength and speed. Great buy and easy to use. |

Question: | Several reviews say that the sizing is limited. What is the exact length of the velcro strap |

Answer: | About 3x3 (by memory) |
Question: | is there a patent on this? I’d like to make one for my granddaughter and need to know if this is ok |
