We have been selling these for about 15 years in our retail stores as well as online and the 10 and under guideline is a good guideline. It is just a guideline though. We have had 12 year olds who have a smaller head and mouth prefer the youth and 7/8 year old who have bigger than average heads/mouths that need the adult. After they are custom fit per the instructions you will also get a much better fit, and if you need to get an adult size you can trim that size down in the length too. How to use

1. Put the tray into boiling water for 20 seconds. The tray will become very soft. Take it out with a spoon and place it in your mouth and gently bite into the shape. Use your fingers to properly press the sidewall of the tray to make it fit your teeth.

2. If the tray is not completely plastic in the previous step, you can repeat the blanching and shaping again.

3. After the plasticity of the dental tray is completed, put in cold water and let it cool for 30 seconds. The finalization can be completed.

Nightguards are manufactured to protect the teeth from bruxism (grinding), and are a single layer of clear polymer. If you were interested in a customfit mouthguard, these are made up of more than one layer so could eventually begin to delaminate if too much pressure is applied and the teeth pierce the layers. Question:	How good would this be for powerlifting
Answer:	We asked an oral and maxillofacial surgeon regarding your question. While most of the sports mouth guards are designed to protect the upper teeth, you should get a lower instead of an upper. Normally sports mouth guards we make, like all the other mouth guard companies, are to protect your front teeth from getting knocked out but for powerlifting, you shouldn't have that kind of problem unless you drop a bar on your face. Having a lower mouthpiece will make it much easier for you to breath and speak with it in and because it won't cover your palate, it would be much more comfortable as well. Sorry this mouth guard may not be suitable for you but we wish you all the best.
