User questions & answers
Question: | Does anyone know the best way to hang this on the wall ? The usual samurai sword hangers won’t work |
Answer: | I usually just manufacture my own. It works better for me because if you do it yourself, it's custom and probably lasts much longer. |
Question: | How is the handle secured to the tang |
Answer: | two screws, with large flat heads |
Question: | Does the tang go through the knuckle hand guard all the way |
Answer: | I was told by the seller in an email that the tang does not go through the knuckle guard. So conflicting reports. I would assume that the steel goes through only the grip and not the guard. So while it is full tang, the guard is only plastic unlike say the cold steel kopis or cutlass machete. |
Question: | How thick is the blade |
Answer: | I would say a quarter inch thick. |

Question: | How wide is the blade |
Answer: | Half-tang blade Measures 15" overall WITH SPIKED 9 1/2" 440 STAINLESS STEEL BLADE AND POLISHED WOOD HANDLE |
Question: | Is this knife full tang |
Answer: | It is durable but it is stainless steel so being so long it is a little flexible by the handle but for the money it is a good knife and really sharp |
Question: | is it durable |
Answer: | 15" over all with spiked 9 1/2" 440 stainless steel blade and polished wood handle comes with nice nylon sheath very nice knife!!!! |
Question: | What kind of metal |
Answer: | It's not attached the the wall holder so yes. You have to assemble the wall holder yourself so you can make it easier to take it out for yourself. |
Question: | could I take it out of the wall holder |
Answer: | Stainless Steel is hard, but that's the problem. It'll hold up until it doesn't, then it will shatter. Check out the Sword Buyer's Guide website if you want a real sword, not just a sword like object. There is a video on YouTube from. It is the home shopping network that a stainless katana shattered and slashed the host's face. Stainless blades over 24" are brittle. Think peanut brittle, hard but shatters. You want something strong and flexible, that will return to its original shape after being flexed. Think safety, that's the purpose of my whole answer. Now make it out of 1060 or 1095 carbon steel and I'm sold |
Question: | Will the blade be damaged if I choose to sharpen this |
Answer: | No blue highlight, and it is better than the one sold by Warner Bros. in my opinion. This is my 5th LOTR sword from United Cutlery, and they are all amazing |
Question: | I have two questions: Does the guard have a blue highlight on it? Is it better or worse than the one sold by Warner Bros |
Answer: | You should never use a sword as a "home defense" weapon. Most major U.S. cities ban swords/knives beyond a certain blade length and even in your house "defending yourself", you may be breaking the law yourself. If your that worried about home defense, take a gun safety class, purchase a firearm from your local FFL dealer and call it a day. |
Question: | If someone broke into my house, would it be usable to defend myself |
Answer: | Sadly, it is not functional. Most, if not all Kit Rae weapons are just display pieces. I've been wanting to try to use the spear like a lance and train with it, but in any case, it's not something I should use for it. there are sharp points, but that's it. They aren't sharpened. If they were, they'd be a hell of a lot more. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it very sharp out of the box |
Answer: | Yes it's long enough for an average adult hand. |
Question: | Is the choil large enough to wrap your finger around in sort of a pistol grip fashion |
Answer: | I'm assuming you mean horizontal (blade up)? The sheath is just a standard belt through the loop at the top, behind the handle. There is the 2 small holes at the bottom that you might be able to makeshift something to mount it a different way. At least the strap that secures the knife in the sheath is low and crosses over the handguard so if you were able to carry it any other way than on your hip it would not slide out of the sheath at all. |
Question: | Does the sheath allow for scout carry |
Answer: | The blade is not symmetrical. From where the spine leaves the hilt to the tip, the length is 6 1/4". From where the lowest part of the blade side material leaves the hilt to the tip of the blade, the length is 7 1/8". This may be why you are seeing two different measurements. |
Question: | How long is the blade? It lists two different sizes for the blade 5.25 or |
Answer: | Are you asking... is it double beveled? Or are you asking about the top and bottom of the blade both having an edge? It’s double beveled on the bottom and top the bottom is the only side that has a sharp edge Top of the knife is dull but it could be sharpened... I used my ken onion work sharp to sharpen it right up. If you do that, like I have done watch out she bites |
Question: | is this knife double edge |
Answer: | 1/8" |
