12 best billiards pool balls
Billiards pool balls, also known simply as pool balls or billiard balls, are the spherical objects used in various cue sports games, including eight-ball, nine-ball, and straight pool. These balls come in a set and are numbered and colored to distinguish them from each other. Here is what you need to know about billiards pool balls:
Composition: Billiards pool balls are traditionally made from a high-quality phenolic resin. This material is chosen for its durability, consistency, and resistance to wear and impact.
Standard Set: A standard set of billiards pool balls consists of 16 balls, including 15 object balls and 1 cue ball. The object balls are numbered 1 through 15, with the cue ball typically being white.
Colors and Numbers: The object balls are colored and numbered as follows:
- Balls 1 through 7 are solid-colored, often referred to as "solids" or "low" balls, and can be any color from the traditional set, such as blue, orange, or red.
- Balls 9 through 15 are striped, known as "stripes" or "high" balls and have white backgrounds with colored stripes.
- The 8-ball, often black, is solid black, and it is typically the most crucial ball in many pool games, including eight-ball.
Size and Weight: Standard pool balls are typically 2.25 inches (57 mm) in diameter and weigh around 6 ounces (170 grams). These dimensions are standardized to ensure consistent gameplay.
Rack Formation: Pool balls are racked in a specific formation at the beginning of a game, with the 8-ball placed in the center and the other balls arranged in a triangular pattern. The specific rack pattern may vary depending on the game being played.
Game Variations: Different cue sports games have varying rules and objectives, and the arrangement of the balls in the rack and how they are played varies accordingly. Some popular pool games include eight-ball, nine-ball, and straight pool, each with its own set of rules.
Maintenance: Maintaining the cleanliness of the pool balls is essential for fair gameplay. Over time, they can accumulate chalk residue and dirt from play. Regular cleaning with a soft cloth or ball cleaner can help preserve their appearance and performance.
Replacement: If a pool ball becomes damaged, it's important to replace it to maintain the integrity of the game. Individual replacement balls are available to match the standard set.
In summary, billiards pool balls are fundamental components of cue sports games, with each ball numbered and colored to distinguish them. They are made from durable phenolic resin, come in a standard set of 16 balls, and have specific rules and arrangements for different cue sports games. Proper maintenance and replacement of damaged balls are essential to ensure a fair and enjoyable game of pool.

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the MAP price for Aramith products |
Answer: | product of china.Manufactured for & Distributed by Waggon Train LLC St Louis MO 63702 But yet under Purinas name...I have been using for 3 yrs as a treat for 3 yrs. Dogs are healthy |
Question: | is the cue ball a red dot or standard |
Answer: | Don’t worry about salt content. Theses were to be pulled because of dogs getting severely ill. We stopped using it after reading about all the sick dogs. Google purina recalls. |
Question: | Do the numbers have any feel to them or completely smooth and is cue ball of same phenolic resin quality |
Answer: | They are made in the U.S. |
Question: | Is there a notable difference from this and the premium set |
Answer: | They are supposed to be soft, not real, real soft, but chewy soft, if they're fresh. I've bought them several times over the past 3 years as my girl loves them too. None of the stores in my neighborhood offer the best price that Amazon does for the 32 oz. bag. However I have received them from Amazon when the chicken jerky has been hard, like so hard they snap in two. That means they're not fresh, even though they are packaged in a vacuum sealed bag. She'll still eat them, but she prefers the soft chewy jerky just like human beef jerky you'd buy in a 7/11 store. Good luck. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does this set includes both the extra add-on cue ball and the ball cleaner as shown in the pictures |
Answer: | This is a great set. High quality, spare rubber replacement parts and cleaning brushes. I've learned that only the finest bits of herbs and seasoning will bit through only the largest, open point injector needle. The size of that needle opening of is about the size of a coffee stirrer (straw-type). An Italian dressing might work, but then again, it may need to be strained. |
Question: | Are all pool balls the same size |
Answer: | This was such an amazing tool to use. My turkey was so flavorful and juicy!! It will work with virtually all marinades except some of the crazy ones with chunks of stuff in it. This is a must for the kitchen. |
Question: | Does this set come with a blue dot or a red dot cue ball |
Answer: | Yes you can. In general for poultry, I use the single hole needles since poultry typically not thick enough for the multi holes. |
Question: | Where are these made |
Answer: | I just used mine a few times. But it is made sturdy. So I don't think the needle will break that easy. I had another brand and the needle broke to easy. I think you will like this one. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why do some reviews say they recived cheaper and incorrect item? What gives |
Answer: | NO this is NOT the original Thai formula. This is the very thin, weak yellow colored balm. It is in no way like what I call the 'real' Tiger Balm which is red, thicker and much better. |
Question: | Does it come with all three of the pictured items |
Answer: | LMAO I'm crying over here like the crying tiger brand hot sauce. (How many tiger tears are in that?) Mostly valid question given the original sources of many Asian or TCM health products. Sorry - Disclaimer no real tiger tears or oil in this product. |
- 2 1/4" Tournament Regulation Pool Balls
- Through-hardened vitrified surface and core holds their glossy look
- Friction resistance minimizes burn spots as well
- Debuted at the Mosconi Cup XXVI in Las Vegas, 2019
- The purest phenolic formulation featuring Duramith Technology
User questions & answers
Question: | Looking at the picture the numbers seem to be blurred or had a shadow. Do they look like that in person |
Answer: | Please sent me the message about your address, we will check with carrier. |
Question: | The photo doesn't look like the "Stone" design elsewhere on the web, is it the stone design or as shown |
Answer: | No not liquid but more of a salve but will melt on contact |
Question: | what is the difference between this set and the Pro-Cup series |
Answer: | I do not know what a "pregbed" condition is. If you are pregnant and in bed then my thoughts are that there is no issues with using tiger balm. It would be no different that using any other topical rub for soothing relief. Tiger balm is a concentrated mix of non harmful ingredients and it works well. |
Question: | Im leary of spending 150 on this set of pool balls,,I'd like some feedback, ,will it be a noticeable difference in play,,Thank you |
Answer: | 30 grams = 1.05821886 ounces, little over 1 ounce. You can type in 30g equals how many ounces I used duck duck or start page they don't follow you around like Google and they're just as good. I bought it because it was 30g and I didn't want to waste my money on a large jar of it. I see now I didn't waste my money and will buy a larger quantity if I can find it. Hope this helps. |
