User questions & answers
Question: | Is this a combo set or just a trainer |
Answer: | Just a trainer |
Question: | Would you recommend this version or the 'boot' style for normal use |
Answer: | The SOCP version pictured is both a 'boot' and strap-able knife. It is very versatile because of the rubberized clip & cord holes. Also, the low profile sheath works very well most molly strapping systems on vests, packs etc. For daily use, I strap it to my calf with paracord when wearing low-top shoes and use it as a classic boot knife with my cowboy boots. |
Question: | Just to clarify, this price is for the sand sheath, practice socp, and serrated socp |
Answer: | Yeah it's fantastic, it is inconspicuous and hasn't slipped from my hand one and the serrations are placed great too. I honestly never ended up needing my dummy knife but the original is fantastic, also I'd suggest checking to see if your state has banned any knives with more than one edge before buying, for this reason I bought the serratted one instead. |
Question: | Does this knife come with the update clip for the sheath? Or is this the older model clip still |
Answer: | I have owned several, I have replaced the clip on my last one. I found that the clip, that comes with the knife while in my pocket, didn't keep the sheath stationary. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it have the correct sizes for the 51 Morpho |
Answer: | I believe it covers all their knives but you would need to contact Benchmade to be certain. It's a quick telephone call to customer service. The kit includes Includes three Torx-bit sizes that are ideal for knives -- Magnetic bit holder keeps everything in its place -- Durable plastic case can also be used as a handle -- Benchmade's Blue Box Knife Maintenance Kit features six Torx bits – two T6, two T8 and two T10 – so you can keep your knives in peak condition. Magnetic bit holder keeps everything in its place. Hard plastic carry case doubles as a bit-holder handle. |
Question: | What are the bit sizes |
Answer: | Not sure on sizes but it's the only ones that benchmade uses on their knives so you won't need anything else. Hope that helps. |
Question: | I have a benchmade infidel, the blade is a bit loose and I want to tighten it. The screws are too small. Will this toolbox get the job done |
Answer: | You will not be able to tighten an OTF knife like the infidel. The Achilles heel of an “out the front” knife is that the blade will feel loose no matter what. There is only one OTF knife “that I have seen” that didn’t have that annoying blade wiggle. It was priced over $2000. |
Question: | Are these the same sizes torx bits ZT primarily uses assembling their knives as well |
Answer: | Bit broke first time I used it. Poor quality metal. Good luck |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why does the knife feel like a really cheap plastic? What is the handle made of it feels extremely fragile |
Answer: | Because it IS really cheap fiber reinforces polymer. That's why this knife costs 137$ and not 200-300 like alot of the benchmades. You're getting a usable, sturdy knife that's perfect for EDC and not overbuilt for combat deployment, daily first responder use, or other 'heavy duty' life cycle. This is a quality knife that is perfect for 90% of the consumers. If you feel polymer is too fragile for your use, look for G10 scales but be ready to pay 50-200$ more. |
Question: | Anyone know if the bug out pocket clip is compatible with the |
Answer: | It Is |
Question: | Why does the logo look like a tramp stamp |
Answer: | Because it basically is. I don’t like it. |
Question: | Are you an authorized seller, will benchmade honor the lifetime guarantee |
Answer: | I've never once had Benchmade all me for a receipt when sending in a knife for service...not once. They simply verify that the knife is legit and not a clone and then fix whatever is wrong, and then return your knife to you. I've sent in probably 30 over the years, and they've never asked for my receipt to proceed I bought it from a authorized reseller. They realize that people sell these so much on the secondary market, that it would be impossible to have a receipt for every single one-plus who saves a receipt from 5-10 years ago? Nobody. They just fix them, or offer you credit for another model if the one you send in can't be fixed and is out of production. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the pocket clip painted or black oxide |
Answer: | The one I have came with the black oxide clip. As I understand, this is standard for this model. The painted one came with my original 940. If you have any particular clip in mind, you can always call Benchmade and they will send you any clip that they make for free. This is an awesome service and I have used it several times. Hope this answer helps! |
Question: | Do the body screws make direct contact with the aluminum scales, or screw into threaded steel inserts |
Answer: | Directly into threaded holes in the aluminum scales. No steel inserts. |
Question: | How much abuse have you put it through (without breaking it |
Answer: | Haven’t necessarily beat on it super rough like wood chopping but keep it as my EDC. For about 4 months of running Boy Scouts down in Key West while working on a sailing ship it got put through its paces. Salt water, salty air, etc all while they used it for cutting fishing lines, ropes, killing fish on a steel deck, cutting squid and other bait, etc daily (don’t worry they cleaned it between uses haha) While knife got slightly dull after this rough daily use for months and a few springs exhibited light surface rust (from salt water use) the knife still performed and held up well. The Blade never got rusted out or chipped. Once I got home to Texas I shipped it back to Benchmade and they installed new hardware, sharpened the blade, and basically revamped the knife as part of their Lifetime Warranty. The Aluminum scales on the knife take beats and blows very well and never corroded; They’re durable and sturdy as heck. The knife itself never got loose or wobbly over the 2-3 years I’ve owned it, still opens like its new. Still my daily EDC knife with an amazing lifetime warranty and always amazing customer service from Benchmade. Wouldn’t hesitate to say this model the 940 is one of Benchmades longest running models and their best designs in my opinion. Just remember if you get it with a serrated edge Benchmade can’t sharpen them, just the flat part. I opted for the smooth Blade and it cuts like butter and just keeps working. Cut your sandwich, turn a screw, adjust a gun sight, cut rope, cut lines, shave wood, fight baddies, defense knife, etc this knife does it all for me so far. :) |
Question: | What's the difference between this bechmade and the version from -1 and |
Answer: | They are all the same size. Difference is that 940 is aluminum scales and cpm-s30v steel; 940-1 is carbon fiber scales with cpm-s90v steel; and 940-2 is g-10 scales with with cpm-s30v steel. There are other variants as well such as the 940-1501 and 940-1701 but the only difference between any of them is the steel they are made of and the handle scale material. All are very high end steels most people will not notice a difference between so it is best to decide which handle material you want. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Would it be good for fishing and camping |
Answer: | This knife is very capable for anything |
Question: | What does the sheath or holder it comes in look like? Belt loops, snap, etc |
Answer: | It comes in a draw string pouch from what I remember that has the Benchmade logo. The only knife I know of that comes with a sheath/belt loop is the Adamas. It's made from nylon. |
Question: | Can i use it for marine construction? (Salt water |
Answer: | The blade itself is coated and depending what you're using it for the coating may come off exposing the metal underneath. The steel used is S30V, which is pretty rust resistant. There are other knives by Benchmade that may be suited better for your needs like the Puuku. |
Question: | Will this knife scare off people who want to touch me down there |
Answer: | Yes |
