User questions & answers

Question: Is there supposed to be something on the suction-cup looking end of the pen? Upon opening, a black dohicky fell out and all thats left is the plastic
Answer: Aurora..yes there should be a soft pad that the end of the "suction-cup" looking end of the pen. It fell off you haver two options. To "attempt" to glue it back on or to simply replace the entire pen. I would recommend the latter. The pen is relatively inexpensive and its always good to have a backup...as you can see :)
Question: carbon black
Answer: Purchased the cleaning pen on 5/16/2013 and 5/20/2013 total of 4 pens Fulfilled by Amazon. These cleaning pens came on time. But it was not an original Nikon cleaning pens. I called Nikon they told me that there should be a printed website on the pen. (www.nikonsportoptics.com). I was told to return them and buy them at (bandh.com). I have used these pens for five years and had six of them, all had Nikon website on it. And yes it has black carbon on the tip of the pen.
Question: After the pen has been used for a while, how can the pen itself be cleaned so it can keep doing a good job
Answer: The trick to any camel hair lens brush (a why professionals have been cleaning lenses for decades) is to be as meticulous with them as you are with your camera. Keep them clean to begin with. They naturally do not attract dirt, in fact, dirt tends not to stick to the hairs which is why they have been the top way to clean optics before you move to liquid cleaning. However, if the brush hairs finally go get very dirty with say any oily substance. best thing to do is flush it under water and use just a drop of dishwashing liquid. Many brushes, like the Nikon unit and many others. retract into their holders to prolong the time before are in need of wet cleaning. In the interim, between use on optics, gently tap the brush on a hard surface such as the end of a table or your camera case. As mentioned, the camel hair doesn't want to hold dirt, but just whisk it away from the glass surface. What you DON'T want to do is brush the bristles against your hand. Your fingers ALWAYS contain lipid fat -- that's what makes the finger prints. And just as you wouldn't clean your lens by wiping it with your finger, don't "clean" your lens brush by wiping it with your fingers. The camel hairs don't want to cling to dust and hard particulate, the fat from your hands and finger WILL adhere to them. Rule of thumb: that thumb should never come in contact with either your lens or the brush you clean it with.
Question: Is this better than any other soft cloth for cleaning the lense
Answer: In my opinion, yes the lens pen is better than a soft cloth. Reason being: the protective caps keep dust and contaminants out of the lens pen cleaning surface while not in use. A soft cloth may have a larger surface area, which will cut cleaning time, but this can also be its downfall, by allowing too much dirt and dust to accumulate when not in use. I have used the lens pen for years on all of my hunting optics, and would trust no other product to clean the expensive lenses, especially when you only get one shot at that animal of a lifetime, why leave it up to chance wondering if your optics are clean and ready for the job?

User questions & answers

Question: Are these high or medium? The title is high but description in medium
Answer: Unless you can put your scope against a Kowa in a store and match dimensions, I would not try it. I have a Kowa TSN-774 and the case fits like a glove. That said, the case is solidly made, and quite protective, worth the money. I did modify mine, turning the D-rings 90 degrees to carry the scope over my shoulder with a light tripod attached, and put keeper straps on the focus knob cover and eye-piece cover. It really is custom fit for that scope and not a loose fit. Phil
Question: what is the different between high and mediun
Answer: The TE-9Z is compatible with the TSN-601/2, TSN-663M/4M, TSN-82SV, and various older scope bodies.
Question: Does this perfectly fit 1 inch scopes
Answer: The TE-9Z eyepiece will fit with the TSN-820 series scopes but requires the TSN-EC1A adaptor for proper fit.

Question: what is the close focus in feet
Answer: The minimum focusing distance of this spotting scope with the 25-60x TE-11WZ eyepiece is 16.4 ft.
Question: How clear is it at max magnification
Answer: It is real
Question: anyone have issues installing the eye piece
Answer: I have the angled body (880?) and case. Eyepiece needs to be removed to fit scope into case. I would expect same for non-angled body. BTW, very happy with performance/quality of scope and eyepiece (and case).
Question: Does this have a case
Answer: Yes you can leave it on the scope while in use on the tripod. I never take the cover off. If you bought the correct one for an angled scope for that model obviously yes. Not familiar with that model number.

Diamondback HD Spotting Scopes

Glassing out west demands an HD optic, but other systems can’t get you the clarity you need to see a tail twitch in low light, or pick a tine out of dense cover. The redesigned Diamondback HD spotting scopes have all the horsepower the long-distance hunter needs, and they excel in low light—right when you need it most. We’ve also streamlined the exterior for a sleeker, snag-free profile, building in a helical focus wheel. For the biggest hunt of your year, or your third time out this season, the all-new Diamondback HD spotters deliver the power to focus on the thrill of your hunt.

Attach the Eyepiece

Before attaching the eyepiece, remove any covers that would interfere with attaching the eyepiece to the spotting scope body.

• To attach the eyepiece, insert the eyepiece into the body and rotate clockwise using the ribbed ring on the eyepiece until the eyepiece is tight (stops rotating).

• To detach the eyepiece, hold the ribbed ring and turn the eyepiece counterclockwise.

Adjust the Magnification

Change your spotting scope’s magnification by simply turning the magnification adjustment ring.

• Increase the magnification by turning the adjustment ring clockwise.

• Decrease the magnification by turning the adjustment ring counterclockwise.

Adjust Viewing Angle

The tripod mount collar allows you to rotate the spotting scope body for greater flexibility.

• Loosen the mounting collar by turning the thumbscrew counterclockwise.

• Rotate the spotting scope body to the viewing angle you prefer.

• Keep the spotting scope in the preferred viewing position by turning the thumbscrew clockwise to secure the mounting collar.

Attach to a Tripod

For the steadiest views, mount the Diamondback HD on a sturdy tripod or car window mount. The built-in tripod mount easily attaches to most tripods and quick-release plates.

Adjust the Focus

After changing the magnification, some refocusing is usually required. Turn the focus dial to adjust the fine focus. This fine focusing does more than allow you to see critical details: A well-focused image also ensures fatigue-free viewing.

Adjust the Eyecup

The adjustable eyecup twists up and down so you can observe the full field of view, even if you wear eyeglasses.

• Twist eyecup down to view with glasses.

• Twist eyecup up to view without glasses.

Adjust the Sunshade

Extend this fitted hood to effectively block out disturbing stray light. The sunshade also shields the objective lens from mechanical damage and guards against soiling caused by fingerprints and precipitation.

A Crystal-clear Field of View Attributable to Nikon Sophisticated Optical Technology

True to its legendary name and reputation, the MONARCH Fieldscope brings the excitement of awe-inspiring observation and incredible visual experiences to the eye of its beholder. MONARCH’S Advanced apochromat system of ED glass and proprietary lens and prism coatings delivers true color fidelity with high resolution integrity.

Nikon's Optical Finesse

Nikon has developed eyepieces exclusively for MONARCH Fieldscopes. Each employs a new optical system, and a Field Flattener Lens System that delivers consistent sharpness and clarity across the entire field of view. Engineered to provide a wide field of view, MONARCH eyepieces also provide sufficiently long eye relief. Thus, not only do you enjoy peerless viewing — you can also perform collimate photography with a compact digital camera. When attached to a Fieldscope, each of the three new MEP eyepieces are waterproof*, ensuring safe use even during unexpected weather changes

Advanced Apochromat Optical System with ED (Extra-low Dispersion) Glass Minimizes Color Fringing to the Furthest Limit of the Visible Light Range

Nikon’s ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass ensures a contrast-rich and colorful field of view. By designing the entire optical system from the ground up, Nikon’s Advanced Apochromat Optical System corrects not only chromatic aberrations of red, blue and green but also violet chromatic aberration to the furthest limits of the visible light range. The result is unimaginably sharp, high-contrast views.

Multilayer Coating for Natural Color Fidelity

Multilayer coating is applied to all lens and prism surfaces, allowing powerful light transmission. The resulting bright field of view delivers true-to-life natural colors. Coating also greatly reduces the flare and ghosting that can occur in backlit situations.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this be used with other tripods
Answer: yes
Question: Is this compatible with the iPhone
Answer: I was able to make it fit my Iphone 11 by unscrewing the screw on the side of the device, and then making sure the hole in the device lined up with the upper camera lens. It is pretty mickey mouse though. I like the scope, but I would pay more to have a setup where the Iphone connects via cord or some other means. As I move the scope around the phone weight undoes the screwon attachement, and putting the phone on requires jarring the scope so if I had something I was trying to get a photo of, it would not be lined up by the time I got the phone attachment on. I am happy about the quality of the image even at highest ranges.
