User questions & answers
Question: | Does this zoom |
Answer: | It is a little big for a head mount. If you do you may need to find or make a housing for it. It is bigger than my palm. |
Question: | can it be mounted to a head mount |
Answer: | I don't wear glasses so I don't have a definitive answer. I would contend though that it would only cause an issue with the fact that the eye opening and field of view is pretty small unless you hold your eye right up to the eyepiece. It's very much like a pair of smaller binoculars. I will say for a lower priced unit, it is doing the job well. It's deffinitley not as high performing as some of the generation 3 models, but for my law enforcement work in the woods at night, it has done the trick. Good luck! |
Question: | does it work with eyeglasses on |
Answer: | No, it is not |
Question: | Is it waterproof |
Answer: | the Answer is yes and no. The variables in the ballistic calculator can be entered either through the scope itself or through the app on your device. Wind and humidity can be entered both ways. Distance is entered either with the built in range finder function or can be entered manually through the scope. Barometer pressure, altitude, and temp are entered automatically by sensors in scope. Hope this helps. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Where can i get new batteries, and how do i install them |
Answer: | No. Manufacturer states that it is not waterproof. I have spilled wet ingredients in small amounts on the glass top and that is ok. The top surface is easy to clean with a damp cloth and that is also OK per manufacturer. I don't know what would happen if a cup of water was turned over near it, although it does sit a bit above the counter on tiny rubber pads. |
Question: | Can it connect to a iPhone |
Answer: | It is 6.25" X 9" X .75"(h) When you 1st turn scale on you can set it for oz, lbs, g or kg. It will stay on whatever you 1st set it to every time you turn it on until you want to change measure. It is really simple to use. |
Question: | Where can i get new batteries, and how do i install them |
Answer: | Hello Gail, it will go up by 1 gram increments. |
Question: | Is there any way to mount it to a helmet |
Answer: | Yes the app is free but you know how it is; there’s always those little extras that you could pay for to be premium. |

How Night Vision Works:
Available light is gathered by the front Objective Lens, where it is transmitted through a set of optical lenses to the Electronic Intensifier Tube (E.I.T.). High levels of energy, produced by the device's complex power supply, knock out electrons from the Photocathode Screen, located on the front of the Electronic Intensifier Tube. This same energy creates a highly static field, pushing the electrons to the Phosphorescent Screen, a sensitive layer, located on the back of the EIT. These electrons strike the Phosphorescent Screen with great speed, causing the screen to illuminate. This process produces an image, which is then magnified by the Ocular Lens located at the back of the device. By looking through the ocular lens you will see the image as if you just looked through a regular optical device, except the image will appear in a monochrome green color. Finally, the Ocular Lens provides adjustment for your particular eyesight, while the Objective Lens lets you adjust the focus according to the distance of the object you are viewing.

User questions & answers
Question: | How does this work with someone who wears eyeglasses? Can it be comfortably used without taking off your glasses |
Answer: | YouTube has a number of videos with the iGEN 20/20 IC being used to record night vision only sky objects. The iGEN LE is even more powerful but recently more people are using a Luna Optics LN-DM60-HD or 50 model which is cheaper than the LE. All these are great UFO night vision optics |
Question: | Im interested in a priduct that can see into the dsrk night sky and captures invisible or hard to see objects in sky. Will this do it |
Answer: | The video signal output by the iGen is Standard Definition or 480i, but the viewfinder is 432 by 240 pixels. |
Question: | What is the pixel count/dimensions? No listing in any of the manuals or website, so I'm guessing it is pretty low |
Answer: | I also was use too the military grade NV but I hunt with a partner who uses a Gen 3 military grade NV and we have no problems matter a fact the 20/20 out performs his unit sometimes because of the features for sensitivity. I use exceptional IR illuminators which only cost 20-50 dollars from china called the t20 and t67 with the Osram black 850nm IR. the other night I caught a pack of 10 coyotes creeping out of the woods 400yards away before my partner could see them with his unit (Conditions were NO MOON, tight OVERCAST clouds and HEAVY to LIGHT FOG floating in and out) using my T20 IR ILLUMINATOR with 2.2x Doubler lens and had to direct him in so he could see them also I tried the 6x50mm bushnell equinox z jan 2015 what junk compared to the 20/20!!! returned it promptly. |
Question: | I'm used to Gen 3 NVGs we used in the military. How does the iGEN compare to that, especially at longer distances |
Answer: | Yes it is and goes 2-3 time further |

User questions & answers
Question: | Device supposedly emmits a visible infared light in IR mode. Is there a way of turning that off? And if so, what's the image quality in non-IR mode in near pitch black |
Answer: | The unit has one infrared LED that is switched separately from the scope itself. That is the thing on top of the scope in the picture. It adds a bit of illumination when there is insufficient ambient light for the scope to work properly. It is only marginally effective, but it does help some out to about 60 to 70 feet. |
Question: | If you want to see and animal at lets say 100 to 150yds will the IR reach i never had one of these |
Answer: | It doesn't say any where on the box or in the manual if it is water/weather proof, but I hunt coyotes with mine in central NY. It's typically snowing or raining and the last time we went out it was about 5 degrees out. I've never had any trouble with it, but I do take the battery out of it and let it come up to room temperature and "dry" before turning it back on. Same as any other electrical device. Hopefully this helps, sorry I don't know a definitive answer and can only go based on my experience. |
Question: | One other question what color is the image through the view finder? Thanks |
Answer: | You have to turn the ring at the back as well as the ring in the middle. The ring closest to the eyepiece handles the coarse adjustment if I remember correctly. You cannot just adjust one ring to bring the focus in. |
Question: | A couple reviews mention a narrow field of vision but no one actually defined what the field of vision is. How wide is the field of vision |
Answer: | The Night Owl NOXM50 uses a single 3 volt 123-type lithium battery. You can find them on the battery rack of grocery and hardware stores. It looks like a stubby AA and will have "123" prominently on the package. I was only able to find it in a 2-pack for around $9.88 |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be used for hunting and if so can would i be able to spot big game such as deer or bear from 800 yards |
Answer: | Black and white-an almost glowing white with sharp detail. It in no way looks like my first television but more like an awesome graphic! |
Question: | Are you able to recommend a monocular for elk hunting |
Answer: | I don't know how to determine the field of vision in terms of feet or yards. My impression was that I saw what I expected, both in range and detail. In fact, I was pleased with the range and the details when I first tried it. It took me a few minutes to get my bearings because this is the first night vision device I've tried. Perhaps to put it in perspective, I stood on my back deck and looked into the approx. 2.5 ft wide by 4 ft high window on my shed which is about 20 yards away--I could a rope inside the shed, window panes, and other objects inside the shed. So, at about 12 to 15 yards I could just see the 2.5' by 4' window missing (blocking out) only a few inches on the height.I hope this helps. |
Question: | Can this fit on a Nikon D600 camera |
Answer: | Yes, very clear, the only thing it does not have that I wish I had got is a zoom feature |
Question: | What is the greatest distance, that optics will pick up a IR light source |
Answer: | Sorry to say it is not mountable. However, I wasn't looking for that feature when I purchased it. |
