13 best shooting sticks
Shooting sticks are essential accessories for hunters and sports shooters, providing stability and support when aiming and shooting firearms. These accessories are commonly used in shooting, hunting, and other outdoor activities. Here's what you need to know about shooting sticks:
Types of Shooting Sticks:
- Bipods: Bipods are two-legged shooting sticks that attach to the firearm's forend or barrel. They provide a stable platform for shooters to rest the front of the rifle or shotgun. Bipods are commonly used for precision shooting and hunting from a prone or sitting position.
- Tripods: Tripods have three legs and offer greater stability than bipods. They are versatile and can be used in various shooting positions, including standing, kneeling, and sitting. Tripods often have adjustable legs and heads to adapt to different terrains and shooting angles.
- Monopods: Monopods are single-legged shooting sticks that attach to the firearm's stock. They provide additional support for the shooter's non-firing hand or elbow, helping to reduce fatigue and improve accuracy.
Benefits of Shooting Sticks:
- Improved Accuracy: Shooting sticks provide a stable platform, reducing the wobble and sway that can occur when aiming a firearm freehand. This leads to more accurate shots.
- Reduced Fatigue: Using shooting sticks can reduce muscle fatigue during long periods of waiting or stalking in hunting situations.
- Versatility: Shooting sticks are adaptable to different shooting positions and terrain, making them suitable for various shooting scenarios.
Materials and Construction:
- Shooting sticks are typically made from lightweight and durable materials such as aluminum, carbon fiber, or steel.
- Some shooting sticks have adjustable legs, allowing users to customize the height and angle for their specific shooting needs.
- Rubberized or padded grips on the top and bottom of the shooting sticks help stabilize the firearm and prevent slipping.
Use in Different Shooting Activities:
- Hunting: Shooting sticks are commonly used by hunters to improve accuracy when targeting game animals. They are especially useful when hunting in areas where stable natural rests are unavailable.
- Precision Shooting: Competitive shooters often use shooting sticks, particularly bipods, to enhance their accuracy in shooting sports such as long-range rifle competitions.
- Wildlife Observation: Shooting sticks can also be used by wildlife enthusiasts and birdwatchers to stabilize binoculars or spotting scopes for extended periods of observation.
Accessories:
- Some shooting sticks come with additional features like quick-detach mechanisms, swivel heads, and tilt adjustments to enhance usability.
- Carrying cases or pouches are available to make transporting shooting sticks more convenient.
In summary, shooting sticks are valuable tools for shooters and hunters, providing stability and support to improve accuracy and reduce fatigue. They come in various types and materials, making them adaptable to different shooting scenarios and terrains.Whether for hunting, precision shooting, or wildlife observation, shooting sticks are essential accessories for those looking to enhance their shooting experience.

User questions & answers
Question: | How long is this |
Answer: | 21 to 30" can only be used while sitting or kneeling. I got the longer stick, works great sitting, kneeling and walking. Really helps when glassing while standing. |
Question: | With the short monopod it says that it adjust to 30 in. Is that to the bottom of the yoke or just the legs themselves |
Answer: | Yoke to ground |
Question: | With this work with mono pod tree stand attachment |
Answer: | I have read that the tree stand attachment only works with the 1st and 2nd Gen monopods. The 3rd gen monopod would need a threaded bolt in the bottom where the hard plastic is at the bottom and then it threads into the tree stand base. So, if you are in Walmart or somewhere that has a 3rd Gen monopod just pull off the end of it at the base and see if there is a threaded bolt there. You could also simply contact Primos. |
Question: | Other than the price, what is the difference between the shooting stick gen 2 and gen |
Answer: | The Gen 2 doesn’t extend as far. I use the Gen 2 when I’m sitting on the ground. They both have the same features. |

About us
Ask any hunter who makes the game calls and chances are you’ll hear the name Primos. Will Primos, to be exact. As a 5-year old boy in Jackson, Mississippi in 1958, Will wanted nothing more than to tag along on duck hunts with the older boys in the family. When the day finally arrived, he was hooked on hunting for life. And a legendary journey that helped teach an entire generation become better hunters began. In 1963, at the age of 11, Will crafted his first a duck call after a special day spent hunting in green timber with his Uncle Gus. “Uncle Gus was an expert duck caller, and I was absolutely enthralled hearing him make that call sing. That was my first experience witnessing the magic. And when I got home, I made my own call by copying my uncle’s.”

User questions & answers
Question: | I just received the shooting stick but didnt come with gun rest |
Answer: | The lightly padded "V" at the top of the stick is the only rest that came with the one I ordered. If it doesn't appear exactly as one in the picture, you may have an issue. |
Question: | Is it sturdy enough to be used as a walking stick as well |
Answer: | Nope. I tried, even though I knew it wasn't sturdy enough, and it bent in half. Get a Primos Trigger stick, or similar if you need a walking stick as well. |
Question: | can you unscrew the mount on the top of the stick? Or is it permanently fastened |
Answer: | Yes, you can unscrew the "V" yoke. After removal a screw is exposed that you can mount a camera or spotting scope on. Hope that helps! |
Question: | Can a crossbow be used with this stick |
Answer: | Don’t see why not |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it come with the rifle clamp |
Answer: | Yes, it ONLY comes with a clamping system. The clamping system is non detachable so you cannot replace it with an Arca Swiss ball head or something similar. The clamp is all you get. |
Question: | Is there an attachment to mount a spotting scope to this system? I don’t want to carry two tripods into the field |
Answer: | 1/4" stud on mine. Can attach a spotting scope on. |
Question: | What material is the clamp made out of |
Answer: | The clamp is made out of magnesium, read the description for confirmation of this. I have the Carbon Fiber version and absolutely love how strong and solid it is. I also bought an extra ultralite clamp for another tripod to put my spotting scope and rangefinder in. It makes your rangefinder so much more precise. I own a Primos trigger stick tripod and find it near impossible to hold on target at even 100 yds. I shot prairie dogs out to 547 yds with my deathgrip. Proof is in the performance. Bought two more of the Carbon ones for two of my hunting buddies and they sent me a text thanking me for talking them into the purchase because they love theirs too! The bad reviews must not be doing it right. My buddy said he didn't even take his rifle out of the clamp when moving shooting locations, while shooting prairie dogs, and it never moved. Clampdown legs feel like they are very well built. I feel there isn't a cheap component in the construction and super simple and fast to set up. Yes it weighs over 7 lbs, but that's what makes it a solid platform for accuracy. |
Question: | Is the carbon fiber version worth the extra |
Answer: | I do not own either yet, but I ask the same question and realized the $100 saves you only 1lbs weight wise. Aluminum is 8.5lbs and C-fiber is 7.5lbs. As far as materials go it maybe worth it as far as rigidity/flex. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have had a couple of these, they always fail at the rubber/silicone connection point (usually takes a couple years). Anyway to get a replacement |
Answer: | I've had mine 2 years now. so far so good. |
Question: | How much do these weigh |
Answer: | Weight is 8.5oz - 7oz with or without the pouch. |
Question: | Is the bottom section of each stick curved or straight? Mine came curved and I'm not sure if they were damaged or if this is intentional |
Answer: | Just received mine in mid-January, 2016 and both "top" cross sections on mine were bent at an angle. Several people answered a question concerning the "bottom" section, that one person said they received theirs as bent, but all the others said their's were straight. I tried to Google this and could find nothing other than this, so I assume mine are damaged as well. Very annoying. Will return. |
Question: | Wouldn't it sway back and forth while resting your rifle on it because it only has two legs |
Answer: | These are only 39" tall so you will be in a seated or kneeling position when using them. Yes it will sway back and forth if you are not a steady, but the up and down movement is minimized. Shooting with these in the off season will help. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do these have a warranty bi pod the one leg wont adjust |
Answer: | Have you checked with Amazon yet to see if they will do anything for you? After that I would suggest visiting the Primo's website like I JUST did. They have instructions on there as to what to include with the product when you send it in for warranty serve. Since the product is NEW, there should zero issue with getting taken care of. There is a time limit, so don't dilly dally around. |
Question: | Does any one know the adjustment length for this bipod? You would think the description would have it |
Answer: | 24-62 inches |
Question: | Is the V head on this trigger stick wide enough for a crossbow |
Answer: | Don't use Crossbow... be worth trying... love mine for rifle!! |
Question: | I have a Gen 2 bipod, and find that it wobbles slightly both where the handle joins and where the legs join. Does Gen 3 fix this |
Answer: | As of right now it doesn’t wobble, then again it’s only 2 months old. |

When the time comes to make a shot, the Solid Aim shooting stick can be quickly deployed by pulling and extending the stick to your desired length or height. Answer: | Yes, I am 6’ 3” and it works great |
