14 best bipods

A bipod is a firearm accessory commonly used in shooting sports, hunting, and tactical applications. It provides stability and support to the shooter by allowing the firearm to be rested on two extendable legs. Here are some key points about bipods:

  1. Stability: Bipods are designed to improve the stability of a firearm, which helps shooters maintain accuracy and control. By resting the rifle on the bipod's legs, the shooter can reduce the effects of muzzle rise and recoil.

  2. Types: There are various types of bipods available, including Harris-style bipods, Atlas bipods, and others. Harris-style bipods are among the most popular and feature adjustable legs that can be extended and locked at various heights. Atlas bipods often have more advanced features, including pan, tilt, and cant adjustments.

  3. Attachment: Bipods are typically attached to the firearm's forend or accessory rail, depending on the design of the bipod and the firearm. Most modern rifles and some shotguns come with attachment points or accessory rails to facilitate bipod mounting.

  4. Adjustability: Many bipods allow for height adjustment to accommodate different shooting positions and terrain. Some also offer swivel and tilt adjustments, which can be crucial for shooting on uneven ground or when tracking moving targets.

  5. Materials: Bipods are commonly made from lightweight materials such as aluminum or carbon fiber to minimize added weight to the firearm. These materials are also durable and can withstand various environmental conditions.

  6. Purpose: Bipods are used for a wide range of shooting activities, including long-range precision shooting, varmint hunting, target shooting, and tactical applications. They are especially useful when shooting from a prone or supported position.

  7. Portability: Some bipods are designed to be easily folded or detached for transportation or storage. This feature can be essential for hunters and shooters who need to carry their firearms over long distances.

  8. Accessories: Bipods can be used in combination with other shooting accessories, such as shooting bags and monopods, to further enhance stability and shooting precision.

Bipods are a valuable tool for shooters who require stability and accuracy when using firearms. When choosing a bipod, it's important to consider factors such as the type of shooting you'll be doing, the firearm's compatibility, and the terrain in which you'll be shooting.Properly used bipods can significantly improve shooting accuracy and overall performance.

User questions & answers

Question: can i attach one of these bipods on my sling attachment
Answer: From my research, the SSG1HL model has been discontinued...and updated the SS1HLA as advertised on Lews website. Both are great reels (I have both) and virtually identical. The SS1HLA has the "new P2 Super Pinion bearing supported pinion gear" as advertised. Lews does not sell the G1HL anymore, but many can still be found on various websites. Note that the "L" denotes a left-hand model. Good luck!
Question: This this the bt10-lw17 v8 atlas bipod
Answer: You will never need more than 10lbs of drag for anything this reel is intended for. Old musky reels had 10lbs of drag and they worked
Question: Do you think the atlas bi-pod would hold up to a 338 or 50 cal
Answer: Predominately fresh water. Palm sized, built for freshwater cast and retrieve fishing. Does not have the line capacity or strength of saltwater species. Would work well in tidal waters though.
Question: Hi, what is the difference between the Atlas BT10-LW17, Atlas BT10-NC Bipod No Clamp Style Mount and the Atlas BT10 Bipod? Regards
Answer: Covid has everything delayed, they will not refund you until they receive the reel.

User questions & answers

Question: How do i attatch the rail mount to the bipod itselfl
Answer: Yes... Remove the plastic tube from the bipod, untwist the thumb screw, thus will loosen the fingers. Place onto the piece that mounts to your to your rail system, finger tighten then attach the bracket to your rail at desired location and tighten with supplied allen wrench. The plastic protection tube can throw you off...
Question: Would tho bipod fit on a springfield saint ar 15 5.56 rail
Answer: This bipod comes with a weaver/pictatinny mount adapter so if your fire arm has either of those rail types, it will fit. It requires about 4 slots on a picatinny rail (just an estimate).
Question: Can a sling be mounted to the attached bipod? I don't want to give up my sling to mount a bipod
Answer: Yes, there is the ring on the bipod for you to attach sling.
Question: Does it have the swivel or pivot feature
Answer: It doesn't have a swivel or pivot feature, however I just got mine and mounted it and just checking it out at home I found that you actually can pivot up and down a reasonable amount, and I was actually able to pivot it a good amount as well. Didn't measure, but probably around 20-30 degrees worth, which would translate to many moa's and a good amount of distance at range. I had a bipod with swivel and pivot features and it never really locked in like I would have liked, so I actually like the way this one feels more. First impressions are really high. So far I can't tell the difference between this one and a much more expensive 'famous maker' one I had. Will be taking it out in the next day or two and can't wait.

User questions & answers

Question: hello there I ordered one of your bipods my question is I'm putting it on a stock that is flat in not curved will it still work
Answer: It should work. The Bipod has cushioned strips to help grip and secure to your stock. It is v-shaped to allow space to mount to your sling nut.
Question: will it work with savage axis xp .308 bolt action
Answer: If you have a strap on your savage 308 all you have to do is disconnect the strap and the bipod will attach to your stock.
Question: Will this work on a Crosman break barrel air rifle
Answer: If you have a swivel swivel holder hardware on the stock you can attach.
Question: will this fit on a 93r 17hmr
Answer: It appears that it should fit your 17 her. The bipod has two opposing pins that when loosened up will slide into the sling mount stud on the rifle. Then you tighten it up by turning the tension wheel on the bipod. It mounted easily to my Remington 7mm magnum mount which is similar to yours. Hopefully this helps. Happy shooting!

User questions & answers

Question: Will this fit my saint edge
Answer: The bipod attaches to a standard picatinny rail. To attach to a sling mount you would need a sling mount to picatinny rail adapter.
Question: Will it fit a choate sniper stock
Answer: yes (at least from the photo); if you go to: http://www.accu-shot.com/Atlas_Bipods.php You can compare the difference between Atlas bipods and essentially there are 7 versions but only 2 at standard height using the picatinny quick release rail mount (ADM 170-S Lever). Those are the BT10 and BT46. This one is marked as the BT10 but the BT46 costs approx. $40 more and provides the following additional features: Fore and Aft pivot limiting bosses (limits the foreward / backward canting) Non-rotating legs (better construction) Inner leg construction from T7075 (stronger construction) weight 0.91 more The BT10 is a nice, solid bipod and unless you are willing to spend the extra $40, and feel you are doing intense use i.e. combat ops, then BT46 isn't necessary (in my opinion :) but I own both.
Question: Will this fit a Savage .243 bolt action
Answer: Hi Mike, I've fired .50 cal. rifles going through Special Operations Target Interdiction Course (SOTIC) Category I military sniper course for Special Operations. The Atlas is a solid device and I own two of them. With that said, the .338 Lapua shouldn't be a problem but the .50 cal is a different animal. When I fired the .50, my entire body slid backwards and it felt like a flash bang grenade went off at the muzzle. Also, the amount of dust and dirt made it impossible for a spotter to track the round to target. I think it would hold up to a .50 but the real question is for how long? The force over time could cause the metal points of contact to become loose. Again, i don't know, but the Atlas is a solid device and works better than any other bipod that have ever used including the Harris.
Question: Is an existing rail required to mount this
Answer: BT10 clamps to a picatinny rail, BT10-NC has a threaded bolt to thread into different stocks,clamps,etc..., the BT10-LW17 is the BT10-NC with a quick release attachment for a picatinny rail. Refer to BT's website for details/research (they make the Atlas) - IMHO the best bipod I have ever used! Regards

User questions & answers

Question: I have a pof p-415 with a factory m-loc handguard. the bi-pod lugs are too large for the slots. what am i missing? where is the mis-match
Answer: The screws should have an oblong lug that turns and locks into the m-lock hole as you tighten the screw. You must first loosen the screws about halfway to allow them to turn and lock inside the slot. Hope that helps and good luck.
Question: Does this come with both legs or just one
Answer: Yes it is a set. I found this to be an excellent bi-pod, well made and sturdy. Two things to consider with it is that you lower and raise the legs separately so it is a little slower to deploy than a bottom rail type bi-pod. It is also does not set high enough to allow a 40 round magazine. As a positive it stores out or the way when retracted parallel to the barrel.
Question: How do you adjust for cant if you are on uneven terrain
Answer: The only was to adjust for cant with this bipod is to lengthen or shorten one of the legs. It does not swivel like a Harris, but is very easy to use and adjust. I am very happy with my Recon. HTH, Dan
Question: Are these the ones stallone used in final blood? where he sets the ambush
Answer: I’m not 100% positive. However, I can confidently say Stallone would approve.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this mount on a picatinny rail? Out of the box or do I need an adapter
Answer: The ring keeps the 2 jaw clamps that hold the bipod on the adapter from falling off while installing the bipod on the gun. When you unscrew the tightening knob to spread the pin arms, they would fall off w/o the ring. Dr. S.
Question: What's the difference between this and
Answer: As best I can tell - the combination of letters and numbers are the difference? The difference could have to do with year of production, design characteristics (metal thickness, metal strength, and metal diameter), plastic (thickness, stregth, type, diameter), spring tension, or just plain and simple freaking greed. If it is this number - I will sell you for 5.00. But for superspecial price - use this part number for 5 times as good product and only pay 10.00 more. Who knows - I know mine is ok.
Question: When using the pod loc or "s" lock does that allow you to lock the bipod in a level position or does it just allow to tighten resistance on the swivel
Answer: This will fit on anything that has a M lok hand rail. If your AR has something different then it will not fit. This bipod is sold with other mounting systems. You need to know what you have first before you order.
Question: Is it pivot bipod or not
Answer: This version does not allow horizontal panning. Horizontal changes of any significance will require movement in the bipod legs.

User questions & answers

Question: will this fit to a ruger PC
Answer: You will need an adapter. This bipod out of the box will only attach to a sling mount. I have used this mount on several rifles...http://www.amazon.com/Gg-G-Harris-Bipod-Adapter/dp/B0025TVDZK/ref=pd_sbs_sg_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=1ZQXTB1HV9H8BJZ6VV7Q.If you want a quick detach version, they are available as well.
Question: Does this fit the Benjamin Bulldog
Answer: The "S" stands for swivel. If on uneven ground, when looking down the rifle it will be slanted to the right "1 o'clock" or to left "11 o'clock". Rather than trying to adjust the legs to different lengths, you can simply twist or "swivel" the rifle back to 12 o'clock.
Question: Any clearance issue with a 20 or 30 round mag? Most likely use will be sitting on a bench, possible laying prone from time to time
Answer: It allows you to tighten the resistance of the swivel
Question: does this bipod extend high enough for clearance of a 25 round magazine in a prone position
Answer: Yes, this bipod pivots/swivels.

No-Nonsense Dependability

Bearing the Super Duty moniker, users can expect our TL-BP98Q to perform and fulfill every demanding expectation. Reinforced support bars, squared-off bipod legs, and integral spring anchors provide improved structural integrity against both adverse terrain and heavy recoil. A matte black corrosion resistant anodize is applied to stack up against the weather and nonslip rubberized foot pads keep the user securely planted shot to shot. Straight forward and externally spring tension controlled bipod legs securely deploy and stow away quickly while being less susceptible to dirt, sand, and other debris.
