Answer:	I’ve often wondered the same thing because I mainly use it for my pistols and 90% of the time I just use the rod without the handle that’s why I bought a rod specifically for my pistols from Hoppes with a fiber glass rod and I use the parts from the kit with it.

Answer:	That depends on how long your barrel is. This kit is meant for pistols with a barrel length of 12.5 inches or less. If you have a normal sized .22 rifle then your barrel is probably greater than 12.5 inches in length. If that is the case, then this will not work for you .22 rifle.

As I recall, there was a pistol length rod with handle (1 piece), small bottle of solvent, small plastic oil bottle, plastic end-piece for patches, and plastic jag end-piece for pushing the patch through the barrel. Please note - this was purchased in 2012 and the manufacturer may have made changes to the kit. Typical good Hoppes quality - with free shipping, it was less expensive than any local sporting goods stores.
