2 best treestand harness for bow hunting

A treestand harness for bow hunting is a crucial piece of equipment designed to enhance the safety and comfort of hunters using tree stands while bow hunting. Tree stands are elevated platforms that provide hunters with a better vantage point and concealment from game animals. Here's what you need to know about treestand harnesses for bow hunting:

  1. Safety: Safety is paramount in hunting, especially when using tree stands. A treestand harness is designed to prevent falls and reduce the risk of injury. It keeps the hunter securely attached to the tree, preventing accidents while climbing, sitting, or standing on the stand.

  2. Construction: Treestand harnesses are typically made from strong and durable materials such as nylon or polyester webbing. These materials are designed to withstand the rigors of hunting and provide reliable support.

  3. Design: Treestand harnesses come in various designs, but they generally consist of a full-body harness that wraps around the hunter's torso, legs, and shoulders. The harness typically includes adjustable straps and buckles to ensure a secure and comfortable fit.

  4. Attachment Points: These harnesses feature attachment points, often located on the chest and back, where a hunter can connect to a lifeline or safety rope. This lifeline is secured to the tree and allows the hunter to move up and down the tree while remaining safely connected.

  5. Suspension Relief Strap: Many treestand harnesses include a suspension relief strap. This strap is designed to relieve pressure on the legs and groin area if a hunter were to fall from the tree. It's an important safety feature that can prevent serious injuries.

  6. Quiet and Comfortable: Bow hunters require stealth and silence in the woods. Quality treestand harnesses are designed to be quiet, so they won't spook game animals. They are also padded in key areas to ensure comfort during long hours in the stand.

  7. Easy to Use: Treestand harnesses are designed to be easy to put on and take off, even when wearing bulky hunting clothing. Quick-release buckles and adjustable straps simplify the process.

  8. Legal Requirement: In many places, using a treestand harness is not just a safety recommendation but a legal requirement. Hunters may face fines or penalties for not wearing a harness when hunting from an elevated stand.

  9. Maintenance: Regularly inspecting and maintaining your treestand harness is essential. Check for wear and tear, and replace any damaged components to ensure it continues to provide reliable protection.

In summary, a treestand harness for bow hunting is an essential safety accessory for hunters using elevated tree stands. It helps prevent falls, offers comfort during long hunts, and is often a legal requirement.Investing in a high-quality treestand harness is a wise decision for any bow hunter to ensure a safe and enjoyable hunting experience.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it have a expiration date
Answer: Yes. On the tag you are shown the month and year of manufacture. Below this it says "This product must be discarded after five (5) years of the manufacture date shown above, or after arresting a fall, whichever is sooner." I think this is standard industry guidelines
Question: Is the teather tree climber or a hang on tree stand teather
Answer: In my opinion lock on. It has where you can use a lineman’s belt. I love mine and use it for my lock ones and climbers.
Question: How do I know what size to order? Also, the description says it includes the 8' safety rope yet a review says it isn't included
Answer: As far as I know 1 size fits all. The Safety rope is adjustable that goes around the tree that you hook your harness to. It works great which I have also purchased extras for multiple stands. I absolutely love mine. I hunt a lot which means I need comfort. Looks good too. Linemen belt doesn’t come with it but I purchased one off of amazon. Hope this helps!
Question: what does the teather connect to when you are up in your stand
Answer: I believe it comes with 1 but I’ve bought others but it’s a rope that goes around the tree that’s adjustable for any size tree. It wraps around the tree and the loop that goes through adjust by just sliding the knot. Easy to use and fast set up. You’ll like it.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this harness comes with suspension relief strap
Answer: All TMA approved harnesses do.
Question: Can this be clipped in from both front and back
Answer: The only clip from the back is the harness cable to the tree strap.
Question: Will this harness work for bowhunting
Answer: I purchased this harness specifically for bowhunting. It is a lot better than the original Summit harness that came with my Viper climber stand. I really like the quick release straps. I just place the harness over top my camo. I have not ran into any issues with drawing or shoot with this harness. You may need to adjust the leg strap so that the quick release buckles do not rub on each other when walking. I did this and this made them comfortable to put on a the truck and walk back into the woods without any noise.
Question: Do i need something to secure me to the tree other than this harness? I have never bought a safety harness
Answer: This is a complete package however, you will not have to buy anything else if you plan on using a climbing treestand. If you plan on using a hang on or ladder type stand it is advisable to purchase a safety rope(static line with a sliding prussic knot) This is fastened above the stand and at the base of the tree. You hook up before climbing and slide the prussic knot up as you climb. You should always be attached to the tree when above ground regardless of what type of stand you use.
