User questions & answers
Question: | Does the loose-fitting sheath cause dulling of the edge since it rattles |
Answer: | No, but you can remove the little screen you see pictured on top. |
Question: | How thick |
Answer: | It is 31 inches tall |
Question: | where is this made |
Answer: | Just a barrel and a nozzle. |
Question: | Is it worth the money? A YouTuber that reviews blades reviewed this machete and by the end it had a big crack |
Answer: | You don't want a rain barrel made of wood. The wood is good as long as it ALWAYS has water in it (full - like a whiskey barrel), but when it is full then empty the wood shrinks back up and leaks. Plastic that looks like wood is better for water. If you want real wood for something other than liquid, then wood would be great. |

No longer just for protection against a zombie apocalypse, the Camp family series from Kershaw are big-bladed, powerful, intense machetes perfect for campsites or blazing a trail. The Camp series comes in a variety of blade shapes, steels and handle grips. From clearing brush to making kindling, Camp machetes can slash, hack, split and scrape just about any material for any task. Contoured and ergonomic handles with built-in hand guards have drilled lanyard holes for optimal carrying versatility. The Kershaw Camp series offers the biggest, baddest blades built for toughness and wear resistance.
High-Performance Steel
Popular in Kershaw’s Camp series of machetes, the 65MN steel is tough, durable and designed for hard-use applications. 65MN steel is a readily-available Chinese steel that is formulated and manufactured to provide excellent wear resistance, hardness and strength. The medium-high carbon content adds a high degree of toughness and resilience to this high-performing, rugged, solid steel.
Attractive Blade Coating
A powder coat on a blade creates a smooth, even and tough coating. Applied as a fine powder or cured under heat, powder coating offers blade protection, non-glare, low reflectivity and striking looks. Blade can be coated in a variety of colors using a powder coat and is intended for light use, or collectable knives.
Durable Handle
A rubber overmold is a textured rubber layer on the handle scale that provides extra grip, usually molded over a solid polymer handle. With an attractive appearance and exceptional performance, a rubber overmold allows the knife to become more function and durability when in use. Rubber overmolds are textured and detailed to provide a more secure, more safe, nonslip grip.

User questions & answers
Question: | On this blade and some of Shrade's other ones I have seen complaint and pictures of breakage. Has this issue been resolved |
Answer: | 1/4" but I've cut through some thick stuff with it |
Question: | Is the handle long enough for a two handed grip? Thanks for answering, in advance |
Answer: | The machete itself does not state exactly where it's made. From my research about Gerber they state they still make many of their knives in Portland, Oregon since 1939. The small leaflet doesn't state where it is exatly made either. I hope and assume it is made in Portland. Hope this answers your question. |
Question: | Weight of Machete |
Answer: | I would have to say no. There Gator Bolo is listed as full tang. This one is not. So far I haven’t had any issues with mine. The Bolo is quite a bit more money than this one. |
Question: | What is the blade length, how sharp did it come |
Answer: | How big is the hole. Lol.. I got it as a gift. Will ask my friend and get back to you. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this come apart to clean the inside |
Answer: | If you are talking about the sort of speckling finish on the blade sides that are not sharpened, it is called their Classic Blade finish. It makes it look a little more hand made and utilitarian, as though someone in El Salvador just got finished hand making it for use and not looks. It adds to the piece in my opinion. These are extremely heavy so make sure you check the weight before purchasing and it will greatly depend on what purpose you are purchasing it for. |
Question: | Does it come with a cover for storing the knife |
Answer: | Blade is very thick, 3/16" - 1/4", this is a very heavy Machete. Make sure you realize the weight before ordering. Lots of great videos on youtube for this beast. |

Question: | How is this different from the Alaskan Ulu? I loveeee my ulu |
Answer: | 2.54 pounds is the weight that is commonly stated. Mine weighs as close to that as my scale will read. A major chopper in the range of machete styles and weights. |

Question: | Is it Legal to carry in flight by checked in Baggage |
Answer: | Yes, this a full tang blade. |
Question: | One of the reviews stated that the sheath received was not the one in the pic. Can you attach a pic of the actual sheath that comes with the knife |
Answer: | open the two locking tabs, and push the front casing up, you can take out the knife to clean. Be careful when you open it . Pls refer to the manual attached with merchandises. |
Question: | Is this knife full tang |
Answer: | ok, but only small pieces.not for meat with bone |
Question: | made where |
Answer: | Because it is a stainless steel blade it is very hard. 1000/4000 is way to fine. I start off with 150 grit and 280 fine, the same as I use to sharpen my axe and hatchets. It takes about 3 minutes to get it sharp enough to shave with. I also have a handheld accusharp that I have always carried with me hunting and I touch it up with that if cutting ribs or something with bone. My family had a huge meat market and slaughterhouse when I was growing up and I sharpened a lot knives for the butchers. I am in love that handheld Accusharp, I think I have 3 of them. The Sharpening blades are diamond-honed tungsten carbide and are reversible and replaceable. I just touched up my cleaver today. You should try and get a 22 degree angle on the cutting edge and after that you might want to get an 18-20 degree, |

User questions & answers
Question: | Any thoughts on Tramontina versus an Imacasa or Ontario machete |
Answer: | Yes you can! Do not listen to the people above. But it HAS to be a checked bag. Do not try and carry it on. Do not go through security with it. Check it in a suitcase or duffel. Check this website out for info: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/items/knives |
Question: | What's the difference between this bolo sword and a traditional bolo |
Answer: | The sheath I received was different, the bands around the center have snaps instead of a buckle, probably better overall since you have to undo them to remove the knife. Wouldn't let me attach a picture. |
Question: | Does anyone knows where i can find a sheath for this one |
Answer: | Absolutely not these never are a full tang is normally evident in the handle but if it has a full guard not just a bolster its unlikely to be full tang |
Question: | What kind of steel and how long is the blade |
Answer: | The two I've purchased are stamped Pakistan. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it come with a sheath? If so hows the sheath? Is it a horizontal belt loop or veritcal |
Answer: | Tramontinas are made in Brazil and Imacasa in El Salvador. These two companies make machetes for people who actually use them. Both are light in weight. Ontario makes very good products, tough stuff indeed, but their machetes are considerably heavier than the Latin American brands. and are much more expensive. In my opinion, if one were going to use a machete for what it was actually made to do, either Tramontina or Imacasa would be the best choice. |
Question: | Where is this knife manufactured |
Answer: | There's not any, I don't know why they are calling this a sword? It's just a regular bolo machete. |
Question: | what is the blade thickness |
Answer: | I bt on amazon Marble Knives 33514S Bolo Camp Knife Belt Sheath with Heavy Black Nylon Construction. It works pretty good and has several pockets that I store a sharpening stone and 550 paracord and a small chain saw. that gives me all the tools to build a lean-to shelter and other stuff. |
