Answer: One answer to this question says "a little over 2". So I ordered this instead of the minnow trap. It arrives, the label says crayfish trap, but the opening is only 1". I check with a friend who bought one in the past. His trap's opening measures 2 1/4". I see the minnow trap is a couple dollars less. So they have a labeling problem, or ran out of crayfish traps and relabeled and shipped me a minnow trap. Either way I can either ship it back or modify it myself. The product description doesn't actually indicated the opening size, so I guess I'll have to modify it.
