13 best berkley braided lines
Berkley is a well-known brand in the fishing industry, recognized for its high-quality fishing lines, including braided lines. Berkley braided lines are popular among anglers due to their durability, strength, and sensitivity. These lines are made by weaving together multiple strands of synthetic fibers like Dyneema or Spectra to create a strong and abrasion-resistant line.
Berkley braided lines are widely used for various fishing techniques, including freshwater and saltwater fishing. Anglers appreciate braided lines for their thin diameter, which allows for longer casting distances and increased line capacity on reels. The lack of stretch in braided lines provides excellent sensitivity, enabling anglers to detect even the subtlest bites.
One of the advantages of Berkley braided lines is their resistance to abrasion, making them suitable for fishing in areas with heavy cover or sharp structures where other lines might break easily. Additionally, they are known for their knot strength, ensuring that knots hold securely during battles with large fish.
Berkley offers a range of braided lines with different characteristics, such as varying pound test strengths and colors, catering to different fishing situations and angler preferences. Anglers often choose Berkley braided lines for their reliability and performance, making them a popular choice in the fishing community.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I use this color line for largemouth bass |
Answer: | Most certainly YES! I use this "Day-Glo Green" for just about every type of bass fishing but where it excels is when the fish are barely hitting as you can easily see the line jump/move at the slightest bite. The only thing is to learn how to tie EXCELLENT knots (look up braid to fluorocarbon knots online) and use at least a 4-6' leader...though I usually tie on at least 12 feet of leader material as I'm able to trim the leader without winding up with too short a leader, if that makes sense. -Kirk |
- Berkley x5 Braid is a conventional Braid using 100% PE fibers. 4 stranded braids are popular and Berkley x5 takes it to another level by adding an additional strand making x5 strong, reliable, and built to cut through weeds and vegetation.

User questions & answers
Question: | When i fish clear water should I use a leader on the gray color or no |
Answer: | I use a fluorocarbon leader with the braided line in clear water and attach it with an Alberto knot. Attach the braided line to the fluorocarbon, not vice versa. Also, some species aren't as "gut shy" as others - i.e. trout are "gut shy" and catfish not so much. |
Question: | What pound test is good for small lake bass fishing? #20? or #15 would be good enough? Is it good for bait caster rod? Thanks a lot |
Answer: | I fishing clear water so I run 15# braid to 10# floro leader. I target bass and have had zero issues with that selection. Sometimes when the fish are finicky I drop a couple pounds on the floro leader. All I use is baitcasters and it casts great. Never had an issue with picking out an occasional backlash. |
Question: | Are there issues of the color leaching off the KastKing onto leading lines? This'll be reel backing and don't want it to bleed onto fly line |
Answer: | I use nothing but KastKing braid now. Best braid I’ve ever had. Landed a 200lb sand tiger shark on the beach using 50lb kastking braid. But I have to say.... the color wears off quick. Gets on my hands. But well worth it for the price! I will never go back to Power Pro! |
Question: | Hello how are you? Is the 15LB (0.14mm) equivalent to 12LB Mono? Is that correct |
Answer: | are you going bass fishing? with that 15 pound? even though i wasnt happy with the spec they gave out. in general braided line is much better than mono. im guessing the breaking strength would be like around 10 to 12 pounds for a 15 pound braided line. so i would buy a slighter stronger line to be safe.and also you should tie on mono leader so in case your line got stuck on something the mono would break first and you wont lose your whole braided line.if your using a 15 pound braid ,put on a 10 pound monon leader. and the mono also gives the line some stretch so you don't rip the hook out of fish mouth. ps. these braided line are still much thiner than the mono line what you would buy. but if you want real high quality braided line i would buy power pro braided line. they have some really thin fishing line. like a 20 pound mono is equivalent a 45 pound test braided from power pro. however, these line are much more expensive. |

Question: | For 11/0 seed bead loom work projects, is there any difference between this product and the one labeled “braided” by “The Beadsmith |
Answer: | I’m not sure about the difference between braided Beadsmith and the Fireline but I do know that the Berkeley Fireline is strong and used by every beader I know. The 6lb Fireline is best, doesn’t stretch or break. It’s the only “thread” I use for all my beading projects. |
Question: | Is this |
Answer: | No _ Berkley specifications sheet indicates .005 |
Question: | Is this one fused or not? Packaging looks like it does not and thats what Im looking for |
Answer: | I don't use fireline for fishing. I use it for making jewelry. I red over the whole package (it was for crysltal fireline) and no where did it say it was fused. I does say "the best braided superline for spinning reels where incredible strength, this diameter and sensitivity are important." I hope this helps |

Question: | I am looking for 6 lb for jewelry making. Is that 6/2 lb |
Answer: | I am thinking that this is a typo! Fireline from Berkley that I have bought it 6lb. 8lb. ect....no 6/2 .....very strange! sorry, wish I could be of better help, I did look a the listing and it shows 6/2.....maybe send a note to the seller. I love my 6lb and 8lb fireline!!! I do a lot of bead weaving!!! and we sell it in the bead store where I work! |
Question: | Still no smoke in 6/2. Is there some problem with production? Beader's rely on this |
Answer: | Try a different maker |
Question: | I'm confused. I bought 20/8 and received a package marked 8lbs. Also 3lb/.18 mm. There is nothing on the package that says 20/8. Is this |
Answer: | In the Fireline Braided Bead Thread I have 8 LB which is 0.009" in diameter; 6 LB which is same as size D Nymo it says and it is 0.008" in diameter. I have never seen a 20/8 Fireline, I have purchased the 8LB fishing Fireline which is a 3 lb test and .18mm in diameter. Hope this helps. |
Question: | I am looking for smoke with a 10 lb test. Most of these descriptions don't use "10 LB test. What should I be looking for in the description |
Answer: | From A. LeFevre on Amazon, I found this explanation. Verified PurchaseI have used Fireline for beading for years. Lately, it's become confusing deciding which one to buy. The Fireline I get from the beading sites is marked 6lb/Size D and the diameter measurement is listed as .008". It's also expensive. The Fireline I get as fishing line is marked as 6lb/2lb test dia. and the diameter measurement is listed as .15mm. If I convert the .008" to millimeters, I get .20mm. To get the 20mm, I have to buy the fishing line marked 10lb/4lb test diameter. It's very confusing since the diameter of the thread is important in beading. If you're working on a project where you will make multiple passes through the same bead, you need a thinner thread but you must also keep in mind that if you are building a structural piece, you want the thread thick enough to keep the shape. Add to that the fact that not all instructions say much more than 6lb test and you get the idea of what a beader faces at the start of each project. It would be wonderful if all the measurements would be given in either mm or inches and if there weren't so many variables in deciding which line to buy. I would have given this product the 5 stars it deserves if it weren't for the confusion with the diameter measurements. I use the Smoke and the Crystal and don't care that the dark color bleeds on my fingers. I run it through Kleenex before I start. It is a much better buy on Amazon and that's a deciding factor when I need to replenish my stash. Personally, I buy the .006 and .008 and find it strong enough to hold anything and able to pass through beads many times. You can buy 10 lb. test and larger in fishing depts. but it's too thick for me. |
