User questions & answers
Question: | does this unit keep a history of your rides or is that accomplished by syncing to strava or like app |
Answer: | Hi there, the PACE 2 only has one version. There is no premium version available. |
Question: | How effective is the trailforks integration for mtb users whose primary interest is navigating unknown trail systems? Heard mixed reviews |
Answer: | Yes, all COROS watches have VO2 Max estimate, along with other sport science metrics. |
Question: | Does this sync with a Garmin HR strap |
Answer: | In my experience, under normal use the nylon strap doesn't retain a lot of moisture. I usually sponge off any excess moisture and it dries off pretty quickly. I haven't gone swimming, but expect that might cause more retention. |
Question: | Does the "device only" package include any mounting hardware |
Answer: | Good vibration strength! |

Performance GPS Cycling Computer with Mapping and Touchscreen
Navigate Every Turn
Edge 830 is preloaded with the Garmin Cycle Map, including turn-by-turn directions and navigation alerts that notify you of upcoming turns. Use the bright, responsive touchscreen to create new rides and courses right on the Edge device. To help you ride like a local, popularity routing chooses from the roads and trails most traveled by fellow cyclists. And Edge 830 is smart enough to guide you back to the route — or back to start — if you deviate from it or decide to head home early. And with route calculation speeds 2 times faster than previous models, you’ll spend more time riding, not waiting around.
Know What’s Ahead with Trailforks
The Garmin Cycle Map on Edge 830 comes with integrated TrailForks trail data. And with the preloaded Trailforks app from the Connect IQ Store, you can seamlessly sync your rides planned on Trailforks right to your Edge. Trailforks features trails from more than 80 countries, including topographic information, points of interest, heatmaps, trail conditions and much more. It will even guide you to appropriately graded trails based on your technical ability. And when you stop mid-ride, the new Forksight mode automatically displays upcoming forks in the trail, and gives you context by showing where you are within a trail network. Wherever you ride, you’ll have access to the best, most up-to-date information so you can have a smooth ride — no matter how challenging the trail.
Own Every Jump
With Edge 830 on your stem, you’ll capture every bragworthy stat. It tracks the epic details with new MTB dynamics such as jump count, jump distance and hang time. So, when you huck an incredible 20-footer, you’ll have the recorded data to prove it. Edge 830 also has ratings for Grit and Flow. Grit rates the difficulty of a ride using GPS, elevation and accelerometer data. Flow measures how smoothly you descend a trail. These metrics are visible in the activity summary at the end of every ride and are color coded on the map of your tracklog on our Garmin Connect online community, so you know your score to beat next time.
Take Your Training to the Next Level
Your Edge 830 device goes beyond data collection — providing dynamic performance insights that can help you beat your best. See how your body is holding up in different environments with heat and altitude acclimation (when paired with compatible sensors). Get in-ride notifications when it’s time to hydrate or eat. See if your last 4 weeks of riding were balanced in terms of endurance, threshold and high-intensity efforts. When paired with compatible Garmin sensors, you can even access power curve, a new power tracking metric. No matter where you train, you can sync structured workouts from Garmin Connect and TrainingPeaks right to your Edge. You can also view your upcoming training for the week and launch into the relevant workout seamlessly when required.
Climb Like a Pro
Climbing can become your secret weapon with Edge 830 and the new ClimbPro feature. It automatically shows the remaining ascent and grade when you’re climbing while following a route or course. This helps you gauge your effort over the course and see how much you have left to suffer.
Ride with Confidence
When you’re cleaning the rock garden at 20 miles per hour, you need a device that takes safety seriously. Edge 830 allows for group messaging and tracking, so you can stay in touch when your friends are out of sight (when paired with a compatible smartphone; see safety and tracking features requirements and limitations). It also has the assistance feature, which allows you to manually send your location to emergency contacts if you get into difficulty. For even more awareness, pair Edge 830 with our Varia rearview radar and lights so you can see and be seen. And the new PIN-protected bike alarm will notify you on your smartphone if your bike is moved while you’re inside getting water or making a pit stop.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it come with a blacklight for viewing in the dark |
Answer: | Hi Nitza, you can absolutely do that. :)Thanks, Don |
Question: | No data field for heart rate? this unit will not allow me to view heart rate during activity - worthless. before i return this, is this correct? ma |
Answer: | Hi Qusay, that receiver has 40 watts RMS, so, I'd recommend a pair of speakers right around that RMS power rating that have 90db or higher efficiency and frequency range that goes down as close to 35 as possible. Hope that helps, Don |
Question: | Does it make speed and miles accurately if I use it for mountain bike trails ? Someone said if you go through trees you loose signal |
Answer: | Hello Flavio, Thanks for shopping with Crutchfield! According to the Crutchfield vehicle database the Sony MEX-XB100BT CD Receiver does require that a separate +12V constant power wire is run to the battery with a separate inline 15A fuse in vehicles with lower than a 15A fuse protecting the factory radio. Additionally, the Sony high-powered receiver won't work in systems where an outboard factory amplifier is still active. For more information, please give us a call at 1-888-955-6000. Our Advisors will be happy to help you. I hope that helps! Thanks again for choosing Crutchfield! |
Question: | Hi, how're you? what is the box content |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it work with Varia |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | does it come with a charger |
Answer: | No, it does not come with its own charger but you can plug the USB cable into most any USB port style charger, PC, laptop or even a powerbank to charge it. |
Question: | Will it automatically upload my rides to Stava through Bluetooth |
Answer: | Yes and no. When I finish a ride I turn bluetooth on on my phone and open the Garmin Connect app. It the phone usually syncs with the 520 plus and uploads the ride automatically to both Garmin and Strava. But sometimes I have to turn off the bluetooth on the phone and then turn in back on and then go into the Connect app and select sync for it to work. |
Question: | What is the standard mount that comes with the "unit only" vs. the mount with the mountain bike bundle? Seems like $50 more for a mount is alot |
Answer: | The unit comes with two mounts, both the standard quarter-turn style. One mount is the “out-front” bracket that puts the unit in front of the handlebars about 3 inches. The other is to simply mount the unit to anything you can put the rubber bands around (I use that one to mount the unit to the neck between the fork and my handlebars - it has two rubber band o-ring things that you wrap around and attach to itself). Long story short - it comes with everything you need to mount it to your bike. |
Product features
Advanced Navigation with Garmin Cycle Map
Edge 520 Plus is preloaded with the Garmin Cycle Map and includes turn-by-turn navigation and navigation alerts that notify you of upcoming sharp turns. And, of course, it’s smart enough to guide you back to the route — or back to start — if you deviate from it or decide to head home early.
Messages From Rider to Rider
There’s no need to reach for the phone or worry about your fellow riders when they pull ahead or fall behind. Rider-to-rider messaging (with a compatible smartphone) lets you send prewritten notes from your Edge 520 Plus bike computer to theirs. Let your friends know if you’ll catch up in a few minutes or if they should go on without you. If you have a flat tire or need assistance, you can send a message to your fellow riders who are paired with GroupTrack — so they can find you.
Advanced Performance Monitoring
Edge 520 Plus is compatible with ANT+ technology sensors, including speed, cadence and heart rate. For even more performance data, 520 Plus is also compatible with ANT+ power meters, including Vector 3 (sold separately). Our unique pedal-based power meter measures total power, left/right balance and cadence. You can even record cycling dynamics to get a better look at your form, including where your power is being applied on the pedal and throughout the pedal stroke.
Customize Your Device
It’s easy to customize your Edge 520 Plus bike computer with the free apps, widgets and data fields you want from our Connect IQ store. Apps such as AccuWeather MinuteCast let you know when the rain will stop so you can find time for a ride. Get immediate feedback with the MPA and Power app from Xert so you can see if you’re exceeding your maximum power available. A variety of configurable data fields show your favorite stats on a single, easy-to-read screen.
Ride with Confidence and Ease
Edge 520 Plus is compatible with our Varia line of cycling awareness devices, including rearview radar and smart bike lights. By pairing these devices with your Edge, you can get alerts — right on your Edge display — to approaching cars and help drivers see you. Use LiveTrack to let your friends and family follow your real-time location, or use GroupTrack to keep tabs on up to 50 of your riding buddies — and let them keep tabs on you — if you get separated.
Strava Live Segments Help You Push to Perform
Garmin and Strava are bringing you even more ways to test your limits. You’ll still get alerts for segment starts and finishes and be able to virtually compete against your own PR and Strava friends with a redesigned second-by-second comparison that shows how you measure up. But now you’ll also be able to see how your current effort compares to your PR, your most recent efforts or the personal bests of your friends. And finally, with the preloaded Strava Routes Connect IQ app, starred routes can now be wirelessly sent to your Edge bike computer so you can navigate and compete on your favorite Strava segments at the same time.
With the purchase of an Edge 520 Plus, you get a free 60-day trial of Strava Premium, so you can sample the best tools to push yourself.
From Plan to Performance with TrainingPeaks

User questions & answers
Question: | The dimensions on this mini state 6x9x3. is that true? i had a mini that i lost that was much smaller. this doesn’t sound mini |
Answer: | I measured my mini. The dimensions are approx. 1.3 in(W) x 1.9 in(H) and 0.7 in thick. |
Question: | Is the GPS built in, or does it require the phone to be sync’d in order to capture a ride |
Answer: | GPS is built in, rides are recorded in device |
Question: | Does this work with the garmin connect app to pull over routes |
Answer: | As far as I know, no, it doesn't work with garmin connect. But Lezyne has their own app which you can plan routes on. You can also upload gpx data onto your Lezyne account. For navigation, you have to keep your Lezyne app alive on your phone because routes cannot be uploaded to the Lezyne mini. The latest Lezyne firmware also works with Komoot. However, because the screen on this Lezyne mini is so tiny, navigation is not ideal; but if you want to collect data with your rides, this small unit is great. |
Question: | Can you add heart rate to this unit |
Answer: | Lezyne makes their own heart rate monitor for it. I use the Wahoo Tickr HR monitor and it works great. |

Performance GPS Cycling Computer with Mapping and Touchscreen
Take Your Training to the Next Level
Edge 830 goes beyond data collection — providing dynamic performance insights that can help you beat your best. See how your body is holding up in different environments with heat and altitude acclimation (when paired with compatible sensors). Get in-ride notifications when it’s time to hydrate or eat. See if your most recent training was balanced in terms of endurance, threshold and high-intensity efforts. When paired with compatible Garmin sensors, Edge 830 even calculates power curve, a new power tracking metric that compares your ride effort to your previous weeks and months. No matter where you train, you can sync structured workouts from TrainingPeaks and our online fitness community, Garmin Connect, right to your Edge. You can also view your upcoming training for the week and launch into the relevant workout seamlessly when required.
Ride with Confidence
Whether you’re training with riding buddies or commuting to work, your Edge 830 device takes safety seriously. It allows for group messaging and tracking, so you can stay in touch when you get separated from the pack (when paired with a compatible smartphone. See safety and tracking features requirements and limitations). It also has incident detection, which automatically sends your location to emergency contacts if it detects an incident. For even more awareness, pair Edge 830 with our Varia rearview radar and lights so you can see and be seen. And the new PIN-protected bike alarm will notify you on your smartphone if your bike is moved while you’re inside getting water or making a pit stop.
Tame the Trails
When you need a change of scenery, Edge 830 is your go-to guide for mountain biking. Start by downloading the free Trailforks app from our Connect IQ Store and then unlocking the Trailforks data on your Edge. Featuring trails from more than 80 countries, Trailforks includes the best, most up-to-date information, including trail conditions, heatmaps and more. And when you stop mid-ride, the new Forksight mode automatically displays upcoming forks in the trail, and gives you context by showing where you are within a trail network. During the ride, Edge 830 tracks the epic details with new mountain biking metrics such as jump count, jump distance and hang time. Other mountain biking features include Grit, which rates the difficulty of a ride using GPS, elevation and accelerometer data, and Flow, which measures how smoothly you descend a trail so you have a score to beat next time.
Climb Like a Pro
Climbing can become your secret weapon with Edge 830 and the new ClimbPro feature. It automatically shows the remaining ascent and grade when you’re climbing while following a route or course. This shows you how much you have left to suffer, helping you gauge your effort over the remainder of your ride.
Shimano Steps eBike System
Pair a compatible Edge cycling computer with a supported
Shimano Steps eBike system, and receive a dedicated eBike status screen, data fields and support for system status and warning messages. User questions & answers
Question: | Can this store music and play to a blue tooth headset |
Answer: | No It is a TACTICAL watch, was made for military use. I have it and have used it in Syria, Iraq and several other countries. It is a really good watch and has a great battery life, playing music would kill the battery. |
Question: | Can you download courses created from a 3rd party site as a .gpx or .tcx file? Or do you have to exclusively use Garmin Connect &/or Explore for that |
Answer: | For course creation other than Garmin Connect Garmin devices are compatible with Strava and Map My Run. For more information contact us at [email protected] or visit our Support Center, https://support.garmin.com/en-US/ Thanks Jenny |
Question: | Does this watch have a great compass,a good one, or none at all? I bought it for my son for Christmas the compass is an important feature for him |
Answer: | Good Compass but not great Hold down on one of the buttons and the watch face becomes a compass. It shows the degrees (0-360) and the general direction (SE for example). You would not use this watch to plot a course on a map. For that, you can buy a compass for less than $20 that lie flat on a map, can be adjusted for a magnetic correction, they have lines, etc. |
Question: | I do desert exploring on a polaris rzr. can i track my course while riding and then use it to return home the way i came |
Answer: | Yes, this function is available when set to a GPS activity. You can navigate back to the starting point of your current activity in a straight line or along the path you traveled |
