Answer:	Yes to both questions mine are mounted at a 45 degree angle with no problem..your main thing to watch out for. Is your mounting point needs to be flush or even stick out past the transom..you dont want the strap to come out from under the boat and rub on the bottom edge of the boat.

Answer:	It's states right here next to the picture that they are 2x43"!! Retracted they measure about 3 to 4 inches!! My biggest problem with them is that the spring that retracts them doesn't last long, about several weeks depending on how times you immerse them in water. I am on my third set!!! I only know this because the first set, I took apart, and the spring was rusted. The second set lasted a little longer because I sprayed silicone spray in the spring compartment. Answer:	I don't know. I never disassembled mine to find out. I just keep mine sprayed down with WD40. Feel free to disassemble yours and get back to us on your findings

Answer:	First you have to push the center button and push the ratchet handle all the way in to unlock it. When you push the button in the center of the handle they auto retract on the spool. I have had mine on for almost a year now and use in both fresh and salt water and they work great! I will always have this type of transom strap from now on.

Answer:	Mine have been on about two years, they have never been in salt water. They don't have a bit of rust on them. I love them, fast one handed operation.

Answer:	Probably no more than 1 year. You should contact them directly to see if they'll warrant them. I bought mine in 2016 and same thing happened. I've repaired the retract spring in each tie-down approx 3 times. Finally, I just put a different set on.

Answer:	Yes, the straps will extend to 4 feet. I bought them to use as tie-downs, to secure the stern of my boat to the trailer, but I needed the straps to extend to only about 30 inches. I put the straps on the boat, secured them down tight, cut off the excess strap length, then heated the cut ends with a cigarette lighter to prevent fraying.
