User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work on both a 3yr and a 5yr old kid? Trying to better understand the 1sz fits all range. Thanks |
Answer: | It depends on what they weigh. It's for 30-50 lb kids. If your 5 yr old is almost 50 lbs, you'd probably want to get the next size up, otherwise their chin may be under water. Also, this vest has a narrow fit, so if your kids are chunky, they might find it too tight. Check the provided chest measurements. |
Question: | I just purchased another life jacket for my son who is 38lbs and I could not zip it up and ended up returning it. What is the chest measurement |
Answer: | The chest measurement for that size jacket is 25-29 inches. Keep in mind that jacket will be tighter when dry and then expand when it gets wet. Hope that helps! |
Question: | Is this a bit longer than basic jackets? Im having trouble finding something that fits my tall skinny 6 year old |
Answer: | No. I remember it running on the smaller side. My son out grew it fairly quickly. I believe these jackets are designed for water skiing and aim to be minimal weight/ resistance/drag |
Question: | Is this a type I, II, or III approved floation device? Is there a strap to grap the child on the back? A review says yes, but none is pictured |
Answer: | It is type lll, and yes it has a strap. If you look at the pictures on the yellow and pink you can see it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Wondering about the color? The first few photos show lighter aqua type color and the last pic shows darker jewel tones. Which is accurate |
Answer: | Lighter aqua color |
Question: | Does it have the leg strap that goes between their legs |
Answer: | No it did not. I returned it because it runs very small. My son is 80lbs, 11 years old. It was too short and small on him and too tight around his chest also. |
Question: | what is the weight limit |
Answer: | It states 50 - 90 lbs. I have a tall and large 5 year old who's 57 lbs and it fits pretty well with plenty of room to grow. |
Question: | Can this jacket fit a 10 year old |
Answer: | I would think so as long as the 10 year old is an average size kid. My son is 8 and average wt./ht. ( 62lbs./ 52") and it fits nicely with plenty of room for him to grow. His 9 year old friend borrowed it for a short boat ride, bigger kid probably pushing the 90 lb. wt. limit and it was very snug and looked uncomfortable. |

Days on the lake are a family affair and O’Neill has the little hellians covered. The same attention to fit and quality that we put into our adult vest line goes into this comprehensive youth series. Youth, Child, and Infant vests are available in neoprene and nylon versions. The most trusted name in the water delivers again.
Sometime around 1952, Jack O'Neill opened the first surf shop in a garage across the Great Highway. He shaped a few balsa surfboards and sold accessories like paraffin wax and few vests (glued together from neoprene). When the vests started selling, Jack decided to go into the wetsuit business. His friends laughed. They asked him what he planned to do for business after the handful of surfers in the area had bought one. Jack said he'd cross that bridge when he got to it.
- US Coast Guard Approved Type II PFD for babies up to 30 lbs body weight
- Comfortable nylon shell over closed cell PVC marine foam shaped to float baby face-up
- Adjustable safety belts with durable Delrin quick-release buckles and handy grab loop on the head cushion
- Soft and comfortable. Adjustable safety belt between the legs keeps vest secure.
- Durable exterior, nylon panels with PVC backing. Improved ease of entry and Ultraviolet protection.
User questions & answers
Question: | Is this good toddlers in case they fall into the pool accidentally and also for them to play in the pool in (supervised)? Will it turn them face-up |
Answer: | That’s what it’s supposed to do- so that’s why we bought it- (BUT we never tested it, we just read a lot of reviews that this was one of the best ones for little ones) we got it for our daughter when we were going on a trip in a boat for a week (she’s almost 3 and it’s too small for her now we got her a bigger one but we’re keeping this for our son). |
Question: | Is the pink vest for 30-50 lbs |
Answer: | I am not 100% sure on the weight limit of the vest. I know that a 12-16 month child will fit in it. As we have used it for such last summer. |
Question: | what are the weight limits |
Answer: | I believe it says up to 30 lbs.? It should be in the description. My children wore a similar jacket from infancy until about 2 or 3 years... |
Question: | The product i received has four tiny holes on the inside lining. These are evenly placed near the hem. Is this normal or do i return the product |
Answer: | Mine has as well about an inch up... I figure it is to help inside breath and not get full of bacteria. |

About O'Neill

- Since Introducing the industry's first neoprene ski vest back in 1986 O'Neill has continually been the innovator that others follow.
- Soft and comfortable lightweight Fluid Foam neoprene shell
- Quick release durable Delrin buckles on adjustable chest, waist, and between-the-legs straps
- Foam flotation behind head helps keep baby in head-up position when in the water. Handy grab loop at the top of the head flotation cushion lets you keep a secure hand on your baby at all times - and makes controlling an infant in the water easier.

Question: | would it fit for my 10 months old daughter ?she's 16 pounds |
Answer: | My son is 19lbs and it fits him like a glove. The problem is its so fitted he hates it. |
Question: | Is this vest us coast guard approved |
Answer: | I would think so it is a great vest. We use it for our toddler boating in the ocean and have been stopped for a safety check by coast guard and have had no issues. |
Question: | There are 2 sizes listed for the life vest Under 30 and One size. What is the weight limit on One Size |
Answer: | Weight limit is still 0 to 30 pounds. Ran into the same question myself. They have 2 options to chose from. I was told they are the same. Just in case I still ordered the infant 0 to 30. |

User questions & answers
Question: | do these fit adults with autism i can swim but still learning |
Answer: | Depends on the size of the adult. It’s smaller than child size but not as big as adult size - really meant for a teen so if you are a small adult it will work. |
Question: | Will this fit a 10 year old boy at 90lbs |
Answer: | It’s fits my son who is 13 and about the same weight. |
Question: | What category is this teen life vest? Cant find it anywhere |
Answer: | 75-125 lbs |
Question: | hello i have special needs and autism i can swim but deep water terrifies me is this a good life vest ____ |
Answer: | This is a good life vest. As long as you get one that is right for your size you will float without issue. I bought one for my son who has autism and he can't swim at all. I use it at the beach without issues so he can get in the water with me. (Under my close supervision of course.) One thing that's worth pointing out is that the vests tend to be a little bit small for their size rating. I hope this helps you. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this keep your kids warm? My kids are freezing with purple lips in the pool even in Mexico |
Answer: | In our experience, it's a huge improvement from nothing! Our 22-pound 20-month-old still gets cold after ~30 minutes in the pool...but at least she can now make it through an entire swimming lesson without turning blue. It's not magic, but short of a dry suit (which nobody makes for kids), a properly fitting neoprene wetsuit is about as good as you can hope to do. |
Question: | My grandson is two and a half years old. Which size should we choose |
Answer: | Use this link for sizing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/ajax-handlers/apparel-sizing-chart.html/ref=dp_sizechart?ie=UTF8&asin=B0787K929D&isUDP=1 |

Question: | The item description says "short sleeve", but the photos show a long sleeve, could anyone confirm whether sleeves are short or long please |
Answer: | We received the wet suit as pictured- long sleeved. I don’t recall seeing the description listed as “short sleeved” so I cannot guarantee which one you’ll receive |

User questions & answers
Question: | Should this be hand washed or in washing machine |
Answer: | No machine wash, hand wash and hang to dry. |
Question: | Is this item able to be returned if sizing does not work |
Answer: | I don't know.. I would hope so as expensive as it is... |
Question: | Will this wet suit keep them dry? My grandson has eczema and im looking for something that will keep his skin dry while playing in the pool |
Answer: | Yes, the suit will keep him dry. It's crazy but my grandson has eczema too and that's part of the reason we bought the suit. I can't say enough good about it. My grandson goes into the ocean even when the water's quite cold. Love this suit. Will buy it again in a bigger size. Highly, highly recommend! |
Question: | Where is the sizing guide? My son is skinny, smaller for his age (5.5 years), but about 37 pounds and 41 inches. I'm guessing he'd be a size 2 or |
Answer: | My son is 31lbs and 40 inches tall. He is wearing a size 2 which is for 30-35lbs and 3'2 to 3'6 inches tall. I would go with a size 3 for your child. Size 3 is for 35-40lbs and 3' 6 to 3'10 inches tall. |
