9 best o brien infant life vests
O'Brien is a well-known brand in the boating and water sports industry, and they produce a range of life vests, including infant life vests. These life vests are designed to ensure the safety and comfort of infants while they are on or near the water. Here's what you need to know about O'Brien infant life vests:
Safety Certification: O'Brien infant life vests are typically designed and manufactured to meet safety standards and regulations set by relevant authorities, such as the United States Coast Guard (USCG) or Transport Canada. This ensures that they provide the necessary buoyancy and safety features required for infants.
Buoyancy: Infant life vests are designed to provide proper buoyancy to keep an infant afloat in the water. They are usually made with buoyant materials that keep the baby's head and body above water while allowing them to move their arms and legs comfortably.
Comfort and Fit: O'Brien pays special attention to the fit and comfort of their infant life vests. These vests often include adjustable straps and buckles to ensure a secure fit while allowing room for growth. They are designed to be comfortable for the child to wear for extended periods.
Head Support: Many infant life vests feature extra head support to keep an infant's head above water and maintain their airway. This is particularly important for young infants who may not have full control of their head and neck.
Visibility: O'Brien infant life vests often come in bright colors for better visibility on the water. This makes it easier for parents and caregivers to keep an eye on their child while in the water.
Durability: These life vests are typically made from durable materials to withstand the rigors of water activities. They are built to last and resist wear and tear.
Grab Handle: Some O'Brien infant life vests include a grab handle on the back. This handle allows adults to quickly and easily lift the child out of the water if needed.
Leg Strap: To prevent the life vest from riding up and to ensure a secure fit, some models may have a leg strap that goes between the baby's legs.
Size and Weight Limits: O'Brien infant life vests are available in different sizes and have weight limits to ensure that they are suitable for infants of varying ages and sizes.
User Guidelines: It's essential to follow the manufacturer's guidelines for proper use and maintenance of the infant life vest. This includes regular inspection for signs of wear and tear and ensuring that the vest is securely fastened each time it is worn.
Using a properly fitted and certified infant life vest is crucial for the safety of infants during boating and water activities. O'Brien is a reputable brand known for producing reliable and safety-focused water sports equipment, including infant life vests.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this vest keep the child face up if they fall in the water |
Answer: | It IS confusing. I just clicked on the link it supplied with your question and I found that clicking "special sizing: little kid" took me to a very confusing place. I then clicked the second middle box: "Size: select size" and that was easier. I saw "13 M US LITTLE KID" in tangerine for $27.99. That's what you want (if tangerine is the color you chose?)I also went to a local small store to buy originally before Amazon, but they didn't have a color I liked, but I was at least able to have my child try them on so I knew exactly what size he was in Crocs". Anyways, good luck 😊 |
Question: | What is the weight for the child in this vest |
Answer: | Sure. If your kid loves Monions go for it. I got them for my son but anyone can wear them. |
Question: | Is this uscg approved |
Answer: | size 3 or 4 we recommend size 3 |
Question: | Does anyone know the weigth range for this product? Our son is about 22lbs and looking for room for growth. Thanks |
Answer: | Size 2 will fit a month old but may be a little big , they will grow into it :) |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this a type II or III pfd |
Answer: | yes, toddler sizes |
Question: | What is the measurement from the bottom of the jacket to the top of the shoulder in the front |
Answer: | I wouldn't. I'd go with the size 4 |
Question: | Does it keep the child from flipping forward and going facedown in the water |
Answer: | My son turns 5 in 3 months and he’s a big kid. The size 1 for Little Kid is very big. I might keep them and order a toddler size 10 which I hope isn’t too small. |
Question: | What is the minimum and maximum weight limits for this |
Answer: | I wear a size 5.5 in woman's shoes so I ordered a size 5 in big kids. It is a good inch too long and fairly wide. My feet swim in these. But they are still comfortable and the heel strap helps keep them on. I love these because I can hose them down if they get muddy or use bleach wipes on them after working at the hospital. Next time I will order a big kids size 4. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this fit like a body suite |
Answer: | I tried 2 sizes, both fit my foot perfectly but the elastic is so tight they're unbearable to wear for more than a half an hour. A shame, pretty shoe and LOOKS comfortable. Design flaw though. The company should throw in the extra $0.10 of elastic to make them bearable. |
Question: | Is there a crotch strap |
Answer: | No, ran about right |
Question: | Is the bottom part like a crotch strap or shorts or a swimsuit |
Answer: | I’m not sure sorry |
Question: | Has anyone tried this on a larger infant? My son is 1 years old and weighs about 20 pounds |
Answer: | You'd be about a Big Kid's 4.5/5 depending on the comfort. |
- Fits Infants up to 30 Pounds
- Zipper closure with two adjustable belts and crotch strap
- USCG Approved Type II
- Constructed with Kwik-Dry NeoLite

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the 50-90lbs have crotch strap |
Answer: | Yes! It sure is! Wouldn't have purchased it if it wasn't Coast Guard approved. In fact, if your life vests are not approved by the Coast Guard, they can ticket you! I'd rather be safe than sorry with a great life vest for an infant. |
Question: | How do I know what size I'm ordering |
Answer: | I think it is a mistake. The small infants vest fits those under 30 lbs. If it's a large it should fit those over 30 lbs. |
Question: | Will this flip child onto their back |
Answer: | Yes, the shape and design on this one is the same, the material used is just a little softer. |
Question: | This labeled as childrens, which gits 30-50 lbs but description has it as youth, 50-90 lbs. Is it child or youth |
Answer: | Yes there are arm holes . The back is a thick spandex like material that goes between the legs and up the back . We love this and it seems that our 9 month old does too |

Question: | Is this uscg approved |
Answer: | 3 sizes: Infant=15 to 30; Children's=30 to 50 & Youth=30 to 90 |
Question: | Will this fit a 10.5 lb 21” 8 week old |

Question: | What is infant weight range for this life jacket |
