Answer:	The needle itself is a standard needle that will fit most bike pumps and inflate a ball. The brass fitting is for 3/8" attachments like air compressor hoses - you would not need that part for a typical bike pump which uses a 1/4" threaded fitting (silver needle in the picture).

Answer:	If you are going to be playing even as you get older I suggest you start with the medium. It is fully adjustable and would affect game play. The small may end up feeling like a baby's bib. Good luck.
