We've noticed that you might want to position the chair with a bit of the seat area hanging over whatever bench you're sitting on. As for a picnic table, it worked just fine for me. We forgot to take our chairs to a football game recently and were very disappointed not to have them with us!

Answer:	Ther wasn't anything on it that I notified that would clip to the bleacher. These didn't seem to slide around when we used them on bleachers. They're just okay - not great - but worth the fairly low cost and they pack up well.
