Answer:	Understand that it does not measure height. Here’s how it works: Standing at a known distance from the object in question, you sight through the instrument to the top of that object. You will be able to see a scale with a percentage number. The height of the object is that percentage of your distance from it. For example: I stand 100 feet from a tree and sight through the clinometer to the tree top. The reading is 80%. Then the height of the tree is 80% of 100 feet so the tree is 80 feet tall. Actually it’s 86 feet talk because my eye that I sight with is 6 feet higher than ground level. If I am a hundred paces from the tree and the reading is 80% then I can go back to the tree and pace off 80 paces to see where it will land when I cut it down. If you are forced to sight from a close position then the upward sighting angle might be too steep to get a workable reading. Think of standing right next to a skyscraper: it would be impossible to estimate the height of it. It’s a simple instrument that works by line of sight and geometry. It’s good for practical height estimates but by the nature of its operation it is not precise. The eyepiece turns in and out to focus a sharp image and mine was annoyingly loose. Easily fixed with a few turns of plumbers teflon tape for pipe threads to snug up the threaded fitting.

Answer:	the calibrated range of the ph.7 and ph4.0 buffers is .5 degrees accrurate...I have used this equipment for years and find it to be great...have not used the 10.1 buffer solution in food processes...but will tell you this equipment is very reliable...
Question:	description says battery life is ~300 hrs, is that about 12 days(stays on), or does it cycle on and off to increase battery life
Answer:	Yes, as long as it is tested beneath 122F degrees, and ideally at room temperature. Be sure to clean/rinse thoroughly after use.
Question:	Does it show direction of wind
Answer:	I would not submerge the whole meter in solution. Only the bottom 1 inch to extend the life. If accidentally dropped in water and quickly removed likely ok. I try to only put in the probe on all my meters.
Question:	Is the data downloadable to computer
Answer:	You don't need to store the probe with a storage solution, just wipe it clean with a clean towel and store it. It is recommended that you calibrate it according to the instructions when you use it the next time if the interval is too long.

Answer:	No. It's designed for flying things. Technically, you could put it in realtime mode, and see how the elevation CHANGES (higher or lower) from when you turned it on, but it's not really designed to be a dashboard altimeter. If you did decide to use it in your truck despite this, you'll want to get the snap mount to keep it classy. "Duck" tape is not the way to go when it comes to mounting a flight altimeter in your pickup.
Question:	Do you have to adjust this altimeter periodically to get an accurate reading
Answer:	This altimeter is really not designed for hiking, so I would not advise that you buy it for that (it's a flying altimeter). By the way, I'm the designer.Other answers are correct: it will show altitude change (when in Realtime mode) since it was started. But on a hike of any decent duration, the weather may change, perhaps as much as 20-50 feet as a high or low pressure front moves in. So over the course of hours, you would have to factor that in. Question:	is it adjustable for present sea level pressure so altitude readout is accurate
Answer:	Yes! It is easy. You need to get the actual altitude from the closest airport or other location. Then, following the instructions that come with the unit, adjust the units altitude reading to that. The unit is very sensitive so the altitude reading will fluctuate some, but the reading is close enough.
Question:	Tried following the instructions on setting the altitude even though they're not clear. Either I'm doing it wrong or the unit isn't working properly
Answer:	Hi Susan. According to the instructions you need to pre-set your altitude based on the information that can be obtained at the local airport or on various weather sites. That being said, I followed all of the instructions to set my current altitude and it has never worked correctly.
Question:	Will this work inside of a vehicle? Or must you be be outside
Answer:	Yes, it will work within a vehicle, but as with any magnetic compass its accuracy may be influenced by nearby metal.

Answer:	There was a one sheet foldout manual that came with mine. This thing is a piece of junk. It never worked from the get go. I didn't mind that barometric pressure didn't work, but it couldn't even do an accurate temperature. Then, in the first hour, it flatout stopped powering on.
