Answer:	It depends on how you assemble it. I reversed the seat so the rounded edge was in front instead of the pickets which stabbed into the back of our legs. The seat is also deeper for more comfortable seating with the rounded edge at the front instead of the back. Either way, the seat cushion should be 42" wide and 14" deep minimum for the rounded edge up front. There is enough space between the seat back and the bottom that a cushion up to 16" will fit with the excess sliding through the gap between the back and bottom.
