13 best mens triathlon wetsuits
Men's triathlon wetsuits are specialized wetsuits designed for participants in triathlon events, which typically involve swimming, cycling, and running. These wetsuits are tailored to the unique needs of triathletes and offer several features that enhance performance and comfort during the swim portion of the race. Here's what you need to know about men's triathlon wetsuits:
Material: Triathlon wetsuits are typically made from neoprene, a synthetic rubber material.Neoprene provides buoyancy and insulation, keeping the athlete warm and afloat in open water while reducing drag.
Thickness: Triathlon wetsuits vary in thickness. They are typically thicker in the torso area to provide buoyancy and thinner in the arms and shoulders to allow for unrestricted arm movement during the swim.
Buoyancy Panels: Many triathlon wetsuits feature strategically placed buoyancy panels or inserts. These panels are designed to help the swimmer maintain a streamlined body position in the water, reducing drag and conserving energy.
Full-Length Zipper: Triathlon wetsuits often have a full-length zipper on the back to facilitate quick and easy entry and removal during transitions between swim, bike, and run.
Sleeveless vs. Full-Sleeve: Triathlon wetsuits come in both sleeveless and full-sleeve options. Sleeveless wetsuits provide greater mobility in the shoulders and are preferred by some athletes for warm water races, while full-sleeve wetsuits offer more insulation and buoyancy.
Seam Construction: The seams of triathlon wetsuits are typically flatlock or glued and blind-stitched to minimize chafing and improve comfort during extended swims.
Fit and Sizing: Achieving the right fit is crucial for a triathlon wetsuit. It should be snug but not overly tight to ensure proper flexibility and range of motion. Manufacturers often provide sizing charts to help athletes find the right fit.
Neck Closure: Wetsuits may have different neck closures, such as a Velcro strap or a zipper with a flap. These closures help prevent water from entering the suit and maintain warmth.
Legal Regulations: In competitive triathlons, there are specific rules and regulations regarding wetsuit use. The water temperature on race day often determines whether wetsuits are allowed or required.
Care and Maintenance: Proper care is essential to prolong the life of a triathlon wetsuit. Rinse it with fresh water after each use, hang it to dry in a shaded area, and avoid exposing it to direct sunlight or extreme heat.
Cost: The price of men's triathlon wetsuits can vary depending on the brand, features, and materials used. Higher-end wetsuits may offer advanced technology and performance enhancements.
In summary, men's triathlon wetsuits are specialized garments designed to provide buoyancy, insulation, and flexibility for triathletes during the swim portion of the race. They come in various styles and configurations to suit different water conditions and athlete preferences, helping triathletes perform at their best in open water swimming events.

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone with a longer torso tried this? I am 5’6, 142lb and looking at the W2. Any recommendations |
Answer: | All "wet"suits will allow some water inside. A properly fitting wetsuit should be very snug when putting it on dry, but expand in the water. If you hate cold water running down your spine, then expect a little to happen initially (maybe within the first 100 yards). |
Question: | Im am a 6" 1' woman but i weigh about 150 lbs. will the wx fit best |
Answer: | Limited adjustment. Some flexibility due to stretch of materials and Velcro closure. Once it is suit is zipped all the way up it pretty much seals around the neck. Kind of self adjusting I guess |
Question: | Hi. i'm 5'7 and 150 lbs. kind of in between sizes for men s2 and s3. what size do your recommend for me |
Answer: | You can try it in the pool but make sure you rinse it well because chlorine might damage it if you use it repeatedly in the pool. |
Question: | Is this wetsuit suitable for beginners |
Answer: | I am 5'-8", about 165 # and a medium fits well, a bit long in the leg and torso, so i suggest a large if a medium large is not an option. Email Xterra to [email protected] and ask them. "Lyndon" has been very helpful to me. Or call Xterra at 1-858-565-9500. I would go with the large unless you have a small frame. |

Answer: | So the seller answered your question 59-79 °C Im not a weatherman but that’s 138-174° F |
Question: | Do you sent to Greece |
Answer: | You do not want it too loose, I would lean S3. It will be tight to put on the first time but mine then formed to me. They have great customer service and should it not fit they will help you exchange very easily. |
Question: | I am 68 kgs and 176 cms. slight tummy. would medium fit |
Answer: | I'm 5-9 171 lbs and my M1 is fitting very snugly these days. It is very difficult to get the zipper up sometimes. I pull the crotch up so high it feels like its cutting into my balls. I bought this suit at 45 yrs old and now I'm 50. I'm 3 pounds heavier at 50 when i look back at my weight tracking apps I have used for many years. I just ran the LA marathon in March too so I think I need a new suit and an M2 is probably what I need based on their size chart. I'm going to try the zipper up a bit to see if that works. I also have a very wide back and I may have added some bulk in my lats who knows, but it's never been this difficult to get the zipper up. LOL!!! |

User questions & answers
Question: | why is that men’s are free shipping but women’s are not? is it because of the state, I live in California |
Answer: | You are a perfect Men's Small. Remember that all wetsuits should be very snug when you put them on. Take your time, moving the rubber slowly up each leg and then up over your hips. It's not like putting on a pair of pants. You have to take your time. Once you swim in your wetsuit it will expand about a half-size. Enjoy. |
Question: | Can you pool swim with this |
Answer: | We do not send to Greece. Thanks for asking. |
Question: | what temperatures is this suit recommended for |
Answer: | So when I started I was a bit of a chunkey dude with and a slight tummy. 5’6” 212 and I picked an XL. I am down to 168 and still like the fit of the XL for both my sleeve and sleeveless. But I do think if I I was about your weight of 150ish I might choose a L. Hope this helps! |
Question: | Is this for triathlon competition race |
Answer: | Amazon Prime is not available to all states. That may be the issue. |
Product description
The Orca S7 fullsleeve wetsuit is an alternative to the 3.8 for the Progressive Swimmer. The ORCA S7 wetsuit provides extra buoyancy during the swim, this men’s triathlon wetsuit was designed to elevate the position of the triathlete in the water without compromising elasticity when it comes to swim strokes. The perfect tool to make sure swimming doesn’t slow you down.
- The Yamamoto Corporation is the world’s main supplier of high performance neoprene. Its seal represents quality, technology and innovation.
- Yamamoto 39cell is an extremely flexible neoprene which supports an uninhibited natural swimming motion. 39cell extends to a 513% elongation rate, meaning this material is sure to move with you. Added benefits of zero water absorption and zero weight variation can mean only one thing: more speed. A fine balance between buoyancy and flexibility, 39cell is a durable material which will stand the test of time and distance, representing the best neoprene available in it’s class.
- Super Composite Skin (SCS) has become the benchmark for coating the smoothskin neoprene used in triathlon wetsuits, to reduce friction and increase speed through the water. Orca uses Yamamoto Corporation’s latest Nano SCS for an even lower drag co-efficient, ensuring the fastest swim possible. The underwater co-efficient of dynamic friction of the Nano SCS is 0.026 in comparison to 4.0 of regular neoprene. Less friction = more speed!
- The HydroLite panels help the wetsuit come off easier, for faster transitions. This technology, combined with the SCS coating, helps the water slide off your wetsuit, without permeating it, considerably improving your hydrodynamics.
- The inner Infinity Skin lining provides the feeling of absolute freedom. Designed based on a high-elasticity nylon that incorporates bamboo fibres, this technology is applied to the lining of our wetsuits to offer you greater flexibility with each stroke. This cloth maintains body heat longer, reduces body odor and the appearance of bacteria in your wetsuit. It is also made from natural eco-friendly materials to prevent the appearance of skin irritation and care for the environment.

User questions & answers
Question: | hi I am a bigger guy I am 6' 3" 235 what size should I purchase I can wear both a large or xl depending on the product |
Answer: | You are at the top of the size chart go height and weight for a size 4. I would probably err on the side of caution and buy the size 5 |
Question: | hello I am 5ft 6" 160 lbs short arms and legs what size should i get |
Answer: | I bought mine at Sz 8 and fits like a dream. I’m 5’9 and 180 but got 1 size bigger just in case. I would probably go with a sz 6 or MT. Those should give your shoulders good range-of-motion if you have a swimmers build and allow for more “space” for your upper torso. |
Question: | What size should I get? I am 5'10" and weigh 185lbs. I wear large shirts and 34-32 jeans |
Answer: | You may be a size 8, but the size 9 may be a better fit. It depends on this- if you are high for your normal weight then stick with the size 8. Just note if you gain about 5 lbs you will be pretty uncomfortable in that size suit/ if this is your average weight and it stays pretty constant, you really can go either way. We always focus on weight first, and at 189 lobs and the size 8 going up to 196lbs you only have 7 lbs wiggle room and are 3 inches shorter than the starting height range (so Figure you are taking the same weight and smooshing it into a smaller package)- the chart suggests an ideal fit for someone 180 and 5’11” (both low ends of the range for size 8)- and you are closer to the high end of the weight chart and shorter than the range they provide For that size. Your call but I would actually think you’d be more comfortable in a size 9 |
Question: | Will this suit work for triathlons and what for 6'1 135 lbs size 38 jacket |
Answer: | i am sorry but there is no such thing as fit guarantee. You need to choice a wetsuit based on weight first, then height and chest size |
- SUPER COMPOSITE SKIN (SCS) - SCS coated in the legs and arms to provide a protective barrier against fingernails, wetsuit strippers and other enemies of triathlon wetsuits.
- SUPER STRETCH - Oversized arm gussets featuring super stretch jersey provide excellent flexibility and visibility.
- LOWERED COLLAR - Over twenty years of wetsuit design experience has made our traditional zipper an industry standard. Our curved closure flap reduces rear collar height improving comfort and reducing chaffing.
- BUOYANCY - Built off of a modified version of our popular Fusion suit, the Sprint lifts the lower half of the body in the water improving body position creating less drag and more speed while conserving energy.
- FLEXIBILITY - No other entry-level wetsuit features thin 1.5mm Yamamoto high-quality neoprene in the arm and arm gussets.

Question: | My 14 year old son is 5'11" 140lb, would he be a small tall? He is still growing taller |
Answer: | https://shgpn1i2wle1h25qr30vh192-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Mens-Size-chart-classic.jpg Hope this helps. |
Question: | I'm 5'10" tall. I weigh 178 lbs. What would be the recommended size |
Answer: | I'm 5'7",180 . I use the XXXL. The XL or XXL sounds right for you, leaning toward the XXL. Hope this helps |
Question: | I´m 5`11 tall. I weigh 172 lbs. What would be the recommended size |
Answer: | Im the same size, get the XL |
Question: | I am 5’8” tall and weigh a little under 180 lbs. Which size do I want |
Answer: | First, I'm 5'11 190 lbs and an XL fits me. Second I'm not sure that you would want to run and bike in a wetsuit, but that's just my opinion. 3rd, If the triathlon is in Iceland no, it won't be warm enough. If the triathlon is in a volcano then it probably doesn't provide the thermal protection you want. It works great for splashing about in central CA most of the year. FWIW I also have the 7mm and it is pretty damn warm, a SOB to get out of, but still won't help the volcano. |

Less friction. Less drag. More speed.
