8 best oceanic diving fins
Oceanic diving fins are an integral part of a scuba diver's equipment, designed to enhance underwater propulsion and maneuverability. These fins are specifically engineered for underwater use and are essential for divers to move efficiently and comfortably through the water. Here's what you need to know about oceanic diving fins:
Design: Oceanic diving fins are typically constructed with materials like rubber, silicone, or thermoplastic elastomers. They feature a streamlined shape, which minimizes water resistance and maximizes thrust with each kick.
Types:
- Open-heel Fins: These fins have an adjustable strap that goes around the heel, providing a secure fit. They are typically worn with neoprene booties for added comfort and protection.
- Full-foot Fins: These fins are designed to be worn barefoot or with thin neoprene socks. They have a closed heel and are favored by warm-water divers due to their simplicity.
Blade Design: Oceanic fins have a blade-like structure that varies in length, stiffness, and shape. These design elements affect the efficiency and power of each kick. Longer and stiffer blades can provide more thrust but may require more effort.
Channeling and Vents: Many oceanic diving fins have channels or vents on the blade to direct water flow efficiently and reduce drag. These features can enhance propulsion and reduce fatigue during extended dives.
Split Fins: Some oceanic diving fins feature a split design, where the blade is separated into two sections. Split fins are known for their efficiency and reduced strain on leg muscles, making them a popular choice for divers seeking to conserve energy.
Foot Pocket: The foot pocket is the part of the fin where the diver's foot is inserted. It should provide a comfortable and secure fit to prevent blisters or discomfort during long dives.
Buoyancy: Diving fins can affect a diver's buoyancy. Heavier fins may require additional lead weights to maintain neutral buoyancy, while lightweight fins can reduce the need for extra weights.
Maintenance: Proper care is essential to prolong the lifespan of oceanic diving fins. Rinsing them with fresh water after each dive, ensuring they are stored in a cool, dry place, and avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can help prevent deterioration.
Sizing: Divers should choose oceanic diving fins that fit their feet comfortably. Oversized or undersized fins can cause discomfort and impact performance.
Use: Oceanic diving fins are used for a wide range of underwater activities, including recreational scuba diving, snorkeling, freediving, and spearfishing. The choice of fins may vary depending on the specific activity and diving conditions.
In summary, oceanic diving fins are essential tools for underwater enthusiasts and scuba divers. Their design, blade type, and fit play crucial roles in enhancing propulsion, maneuverability, and overall comfort during underwater adventures. Selecting the right pair of fins is important to ensure an enjoyable and safe diving experience.

The revolutionary design of the Oceanic Manta Ray fin was inspired directly from the shape and bio-mechanics of marine animals. By combining three different materials to simulate bone, tendon and fin, we've created a blade design that provides maximum power, speed & efficiency while also remaining extremely lightweight & durable. Of course, it's not all nature's technology, we added some of our own as well. Our new soft-pad heel spring strap has a unique ergonomic finger-loop that makes getting these fins on or off in any situation a snap.
- Techno-Polymer Blade - Advanced materials provides the strength of bone to maximize power, speed & efficiency, while being extremely lightweight & durable.
- Power-X System - This revolutionary material acts as tendon & joint, optimizing propulsion by flexing during the downstroke and releasing stored energy prior to the upstroke.
- Power Channel - The flexible center channel simulates the elasticity of skin by directing water flow off the back of the blade for increased thrust.
- Soft-Pad Heel Strap - Our newly designed heel strap has a comfortable and ergonomic finger-loop which allows the fin to be easily removed & replaced, even with thick neoprene gloves.
- Easy Buckle Adjustment (EBA) - Our unique EBA buckle adjustment system allows for more than 2" (5 cm) of precise adjustments for a custom fit without tools.

The Jetpack is the ultimate solution for airline carry-on and transport to and from your dive site. It's a true hybrid: not a bag and more than just a mere BC. Oceanic took a long look at what it means to travel with scuba gear to a destination and realized pretty quickly that it didn't make sense to take a BC, your heaviest and most bulky piece of kit with shoulder straps, and stuff it into a bag - so you could carry it. By combining a semi-dry day bag with a one size fits all fully adjustable travel BC, we have managed to create a travel system that can carry a complete set of dive gear (regs, computer, fins, suit, etc.) and travel amenities (clothing, toiletry kit, computer, etc.) easily for multi-day travel, even a week depending on how you pack, all in only one bag! The Jetpack is ruggedly constructed from high quality durable materials but weighs in at only 6.25lbs. The bBC/backpack combo weighs in at a meager 8.25lbs! Fully packed with travel friendly dive gear stays under 30lbs with ample space for the rest of the amenities you'll need for a week of diving and traveling. The spacious (42 cubic liter) and light semi-dry bag has compartments to enable ease of packing and use during travel making it the perfect day bag for boat dives or shore excursions during your trip. The Oceanic Jetpack represents a true solution for the adventure traveler!
- BC: 30lbs lift.
- 14 lbs dumpable weight / optional cylinder band trim weight.
- 10lbs non-dumpable.
- One size fits all = custom fit for everyone: adjustable harness, cummerbund and lumbar.
- Adjustable position weight pockets.

User questions & answers
Question: | I wear w women's size 8 wide what size should I order |
Answer: | 6-7 would be the best |
Question: | Do the fins have adjustable straps |
Answer: | No, they are for a specific size. |
Question: | I wear a Ladies size 10 What size do I need to order |
Answer: | I just tried the Viper full foot fins on in-store today and the US 7.5-8.5/medium size was very comfy. I wear a US women's size 10 casual shoe. I have a skinnier heal but a wide toe box. When I buy running shoes I usually have to size up to 10.5 or 11 depending on the manufacturer in order to have my toes be comfy. The Viper fins fit my feet very well. |
Question: | I am woman's 11 and I plan to wear sorkle socks. what size do I get |
Answer: | Normally if you are a womens 11, then you would be looking at the size 9 full foot pocket which is a Medium in the Viper FF, but if you are planning on wearing a sock , then it would be best to go with the Med-Large which is more the 9 to 10 in mens |
