I got these for my daughter's mountain bike re-build, so I used some of the widest lowest pressure tires (20 x 2.125 which are nominally a 2.125 inch width) I could find to fit the rim. The ETRTO on these rims is 406 x 23, so any tire width that fits the "23" will work as long as the tire is not too wide for the frame and fork you have.

Answer: I have a Cannondale p-bone fork in the front they are pretty beefy so there is not much give in those types of forks but this wheel fit great and the spacing between (with a set of engineering calipers) is 100 mm spot on measured from the inside of the two forks with the wheel mounted. As far as the diam of axel I don't know but the spacing of the forks drop outs on my bike is 10 mm. I hope this helps....

Answer: It really depends. There were a few years when Schwinn was using their own dimensions on wheels and tires. If the Schwinn tire is 27 x 1 3/8, it will not fit this wheel. You may have to buy new tires as well. Around the 80's, a lot of these issues about quirky sizes were resolved. So if you have a bicycle made after the mid 80's you should be okay.

Answer: No - a 27.5 marketing term is not the same size as a 27 1 1/4 wheel. I have read that 27.5 is a Marketing term for wide, knobby 650b or 584 mm. Until recently 650 b or 584 mm rim is an old French size that was almost obsolete until the latest revival by a few mountain bicycle manufactures. 27 1 1/4 or 630 mm = Old Road bicycle rim700c or 622 mm = Road & Gravel Bikes and Mountain Bicycles - 29er is a marketing term for the wider versions of the 622 mm rims.26 or 559 mm = Most Mountain bikes, cruisers, fatbikes etc.650b or 584 mm = marketing term "27 five" rim - A few modern mountain bicycles - French utility bikes, tandems, and loaded-touring bikes; older Raleigh and Schwinn mountain bikes also used this size.I have never seen a 27.5 rim in person. Is that what is marked on the tire? 650 B or ISO 584 mm rim was a French wheel size, that has been chosen by some Mountain Bike builder's over the universal & common 26 inch rim.
