The Ikons are the choice among my mountainbiking friends because of the weight and easy roll - least friction. I go to North GA and Asheville periodically where the sidewall protection is a plus since getting a blowout barrelling down a trail would be bad. I just buy the ones with sidewall protection. Even here in Florida there are areas with sharp lime rock that it is good to have that protection.
