11 best gravel city bike tires
Gravel city bike tires are a specific type of bicycle tire designed for riding on mixed surfaces, including gravel roads, dirt trails, and pavement. These tires are popular among cyclists who enjoy exploring diverse terrains and need a tire that offers both traction and speed. Here's what you need to know about gravel city bike tires:
Tire Width: Gravel bike tires typically have wider profiles compared to road bike tires. The width can vary, but common sizes range from 32mm to 45mm or more. The wider tire provides stability and better grip on loose or uneven surfaces.
Tread Patterns: Gravel tires feature a unique tread pattern that balances rolling resistance on smoother surfaces like pavement with grip on loose or gravelly terrain. They often have a mix of small knobs or grooves to improve traction.
Tubeless Compatibility: Many gravel city bike tires are designed to be used without inner tubes, a setup known as tubeless. This reduces the risk of punctures and allows you to run lower tire pressures for improved traction.
Puncture Protection: Some gravel tires incorporate puncture-resistant layers or compounds to reduce the chances of flat tires when riding on rough terrain.
Durability: These tires are built to withstand the rigors of gravel riding, which can include encounters with sharp rocks and debris. Look for tires made from durable rubber compounds and reinforced casings.
Pressure Range: Gravel tires often have a wider pressure range compared to road bike tires. You can adjust the tire pressure based on the terrain and your preferences for comfort and performance.
Rim Compatibility: Ensure that the tires you choose are compatible with the width and type of rims on your bike. The correct fit is crucial for optimal performance.
Versatility: Gravel city bike tires are versatile and allow riders to transition seamlessly between different types of surfaces. They are suitable for long-distance touring, bikepacking, and gravel races.
Rolling Resistance: While gravel tires prioritize traction, manufacturers aim to minimize rolling resistance to maintain a reasonable level of speed on smoother roads.
Brands and Models: Various brands produce gravel-specific tires, each with its own unique features and technology. Some popular brands include Schwalbe, Panaracer, WTB, and Continental.
When choosing gravel city bike tires, consider the type of terrain you'll be riding on most frequently and your riding style. It's essential to strike a balance between grip, comfort, and speed to ensure an enjoyable and safe riding experience on gravel roads and beyond.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the 27.5x1.5 able to accommodate to a 650b bike that has 27.5x2.0 tires or will I need new tubes as well |
Answer: | I would try and use a “glue gone”, they are extremely strong and I would imagine that they will pull the paint and wood off. |
Question: | What size tube should I get for the 27.5 x 1.5 tire? The mountain bike tire tube I had prior seemed to big |
Answer: | The base of the hooks are just over 1.5"x1.5". I have never seen the rubber trim around a car window that is that wide. I would have to say I doubt it would work, I think these bases are too big. Good luck. |
Question: | Is tyre foldable for shipment |
Answer: | No |
Question: | Are these tires made for tubes or tubeless rims |
Answer: | Mine are a silver color. I was not aware that they came in any other color. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I currently have a 54-622 tire(29x2.25). Will the 700x47 fit ok as a replacement for both |
Answer: | There are inserts, yes. I'm looking at mine right now (which I've had for at lest six months) and it's supporting probably 50 shirts all densely folded. There's definitely a slight U-shape to each shelf, but it is very slight. I was worried about sagging as well, and I don't feel let down. |
Question: | hello in the measure 26x1.75 comes with reflective band |
Answer: | They are cloth but the base pf each section is rigid |
Question: | i currently have 26 x 2.10 on my specialized Mt. bike, I want to switch to these Continental 26 x 1.75 will they fit |
Answer: | Yes, these coat hooks are painted, they are ok to hang towels outside. |
Question: | What size inner tube for 700x47 tire |
Answer: | I suppose they're ok to hang outside. They are metal. I hung a couple in my bathroom, over the shower, to hang my loofah and bath brush (thingie...technical term) and they seem to be holding ok with moisture, so far anyway. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone successfully attempted to run these tires tubeless? And how much does each tire weigh |
Answer: | I don’t find it to be flimsy. |
Question: | Are there two tires or just one |
Answer: | Not sure what kind of fabric it is. But it’s sturdy and also has a good weight cardboard material to hold it in place. No chemical smell. So far I use it to hold a bunch of different things from diapers to leggings tank tops and beauty products. For the price it’s worth it. The handles are nice because they won’t brake when opening it so many times since it’s not cloth. Easy to assemble! |
Question: | Don't they make these wider? for winter? i love that tread, and i'm going for a mtb street fighter. 26 x 2.4, minimum |
Answer: | Dear customer, thank you very much for your question. This hanging organizer can be hung on the closet rod only. It might be difficult to be hung over the door. Hope this helps! |
Question: | Are these puncture resistant |
Answer: | No, it’s a hanging organizer. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the wheel EXACTLY like the wheel in the picture |
Answer: | I bought the rubber tire, and it is exactly as pictured, with the large, knobby bumps. It rides very smoothly, and I like the way it feels when riding; However, you mentioned the wheel, (the metal rim & spokes), and that is not part of the tire listed for sale. (Tire, Yes / Wheel, No) |
Question: | I got this tire today but how do I tell which way the tire face is towards the front of the bike and there's no arrow on the sidewall telling me nothi |
Answer: | I have the 'V' facing forward on the top. To me, as the tire roles forward, the narrow part of the 'V' hits the water, etc., first, pushing the water out to the side as the 'V' get wider. Both my cars have similar 'V' pattern and they were mounted that way by the tire shop(s). So either everything I ride/drive is either 100% wrong or 100% right. Hope this helps. |
Question: | What is the air pressure range for this tire |
Answer: | It says 35 psi on my tires. |
Question: | How would these tires do with a 50cc motorized bike |
Answer: | I have been riding motorized bikes for twelve years. Yes I make them too. I use these tires and get 700 miles of use on the rear tire and 1500 on the front tire. I suggest you use a good self sealing inner tube. |
