User questions & answers
Question: | I believe the sensor and the computer are attached to the bike by O rings. Is this method secure to hold the items firmly in the correct position |
Answer: | I would suggest using cable ties to secure both the sensor and computer respectively. The O ring alone is not good enough. |
Question: | Where does the display mount? Can it mount to either the handlebar or the stem |
Answer: | Can mount to either handlebar or stem. |
Question: | Does it retain memory after batter change, especially miles ridden |
Answer: | Yes. |
Question: | Does it have a backlight |
Answer: | No. It's not rechargeable, so a backlight wouldn't be a good idea for this unit. Get something that is USB rechargeable. |

Sigma BC 9.16 ATS
We all know that riding a bike is one of the best ways to get in shape! The BC 9.16 ATS wireless computer has a speed based calorie counter to help keep track of progress toward reaching your fitness goals.
Max speed / Speed comparison
On a single screen, the BC 9.16 ATS shows the maximum speed, current speed, and speed comparison to the average
The BC 9.16 ATS continuously compares current and average speed. When there is a difference, the result is indicated by an upward or downward arrow next to the current speed value.
Break time
Don’t you hate it when you forget to start your computer after stopping for a snack or water? Yet, you also want your computer and transmitter batteries to last a long time.
With the new ATS transmission system, when you stop for a break (up to 2 hours) during a ride, the computer will auto wake without pressing a button.
When you see the antenna icon on the display, that means that the auto wake function is active. If the antenna is not shown, it means that the BC9.16 ATS turned itself off to conserve battery life. Simply press any button to start riding again.
Water resistant
The BC 9.16 ATS is waterproof according to the international IPX 8 standard. This means there is 'protection against permanent immersion' just in case the next stream crossing goes badly. Puddles, mud, streams, rain, sleet, snow - nothing stops this computer.
Data evaluation
All Sigma Topline 2016 computers are downloadable. An optional USB docking station lets you transfer information from your bicycle computer to your Mac/PC to keep track of your rides.

User questions & answers
Question: | How is this installed on your bike? Do you need to hook up cables etc |
Answer: | The sensor is on a wire - one end is the sensor the other is the mounting bracket. Sensor goes on the fork, the mount goes on the handlebar or stem. Route it so there's no worry of the wire catching on anything, and position the sensor and magnet so the have a good interface (spin the wheel, watch the computer for input). This is actually one of the easiest I've installed because of the O-rings that you can use to mount it. |
Question: | Can it be switched to all miles? And can it be installed on 20 inch wheels |
Answer: | Yes it displays miles or kilometers, and handles wheel sizes from 16 to 29 inches (can be entered in millimeters) |
Question: | What's the minimum diameter for these? Wanted to put one on my hampsters wheel |
Answer: | It is either 500 mm (19.685 in) by setting WS (dia in mm x 3.14) OR 16" if set directly. Both of which seem too large for any of the wheels I saw for sale on Amazon. I suppose you could convert the results by reducing the Sigma result by the ratio of your wheel to the Sigma minimum. Is "Skippy" training for the hamster Olympics? If I were Skippy, I might chew through the wire connecting the magnet on the wheel to the computer on the cage: My training regimen being no one's business but my own. |
Question: | How long is the wire? I need to install on the rear wheel |
Answer: | The wire is about 34 inches long. You may have to attach the bike computer to the top tube if it’s installed on the rear wheel. |
- ALL YOUR FAVORITE STATS: Displays current, max, and average speed, total distance, trip distance, elapsed time, pace arrow, and clock.
- DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STOPS: Caught at a red light? Stopping for coffee? We've got you covered. Your CatEye computer knows when you've stopped and automatically stops counting time and averaging speed.
- WIRED SENSOR: The Velo 7 comes with a wired speed sensor.
- GO THE DISTANCE: With a battery that lasts up to three years, you can install it and forget about it.
- PERFECT FOR BEGINNERS: The Velo 7 is an entry-level computer that is perfect for beginner cyclists looking to take their riding to the next level.
User questions & answers
Question: | I can not get this thing to register the speed. I've tried replacing battery 2x, someone suggested touch the contacts with metal. Any other suggestion |
Answer: | No, it can’t |
Question: | how do you install it |
Answer: | This is a true fiberoptic sight. |
Question: | Can this go to mph also is it water tight |
Answer: | I have put close to a hundred rounds through a Panther Oracle 5.56 with the sight atop a cantilevered riser. Holding zero, so far. |
Question: | I just bought a Sunny indoor stationary bike, the "wheel" on the front is solid/ no spokes, will the vela 7 work on this type trainer |
Answer: | 238,900 miles. You can see the moon at night. |
