User questions & answers
Question: | If not too much trouble, could someone tell me how high (from the ground) the seat is on its lowest setting? My son just turned |
Answer: | 18.5 inches. I bought it for my son's 3 birthday and we never had the seat in lowest setting and he is average size. |
Question: | does the bike have pedal brake |
Answer: | Yes. And fyi, The bike is a year old and still kicking butt! I recommend getting it. |
Question: | My son is 4 (very tall). i'm not an avid biker, so not sure...is a bmx bike a good choice for a first bike - also rail trail riding? or mountain bike |
Answer: | My son is 4, turning 5 next month, is very tall (95th percentile) and this bike is a perfect fit for him. He's had it since he turned 4. The pedal brakes seem to work better for him than the hand brakes would (I think that's what's on the mountain bikes). I hope this helps. |
Question: | Is the bike blue and lime green or blue yellow |
Answer: | This item is the 12" orange bike with training wheels. I looks just like the one in the photos. The "20 inch" reference in the item title is incorrect and causing much confusion. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Which size is suitable for 6ft 170 lb men |
Answer: | 35lb |
Question: | Does it come semi put together? Or do I have to put the whole bike together |
Answer: | you could; i see people riding mountain bikes on the road all the time. those tires are beefy and knobbied and better suited for the dirt. i have no idea what the wheels would support as far as a smaller profile or a 'slick' that is better suited for the road. you could also explore a commuter tire for it like the Schwalbe Marathon or even a less aggressive cyclocross that would be used for a mix of pavement and dirt |
Question: | When would you have it in stock? And how long would it take to ship |
Answer: | It depends on what you use it for. As this is my bad weather and tooling around bike, I put on the Shimano PD-A530 clipless/platform reversible pedals that allow me to clip in with SPD cleats and the other side is just a platform pedal for regular shoes. |
Question: | What is the weight of the bike |
Answer: | They are the TRP Spyre mechanical disc brakes |
Question: | Can I use this bike for the road as well |
Answer: | It is a sturdy bike so that weight is reasonable. |
Question: | What pedals do you recommend for this bike |
Answer: | It is a 24 inch. I bought it for my 10 year old. Shes tall for her age though. |
Question: | Which model of TRP brakes come equipped on this bike |
Answer: | It is a steel bike, weighing at least 30lbs. |

Answer: | You can turn the sub up and down. If you turn it all the way down it is as good as off, but it cannot be turned "off." Thank you |
Question: | What is the stand over height for this bike? My son is at the lower end of the height range. Do I pick a 20" or |
Answer: | Yes it comes with a microphone that can be installed near the sunvisor or wherever else. I’ve installed mine on a 350z that generates a lot of road noise, but people have told me that the clarity of the calls were very clear, and sometimes people thought I was stationary in an office or at home when I was on calls which speaks to the quality of the mic. |
Question: | Are there thumb shifters on this bicycle |
Answer: | Yes it auto connects |
Question: | My daughter is 10 years old and 5’3”. Does she need a larger wheel or frame to fit comfortably |

User questions & answers
Question: | I see a prior response that training wheels cannot be attached to this bike. Can someone please confirm this as I find it hard to believe? Thanks |
Answer: | This is a pretty big bike. My tall 7 year old 49" barely fits on it. I don't think I have ever seen training wheels for a 20" wheel. They are usually for 12" or 16" wheels. If you can find them for a 20" wheel then there is a little room for them on the on the wheel, but only a little. |
Question: | how much does it weigh |
Answer: | The Tess 20 is just under 28lbs. |
Question: | How long did it take to receive |
Answer: | It took two months. It was supposed to only take one month. |
Question: | Can someone recommend an actual kickstand that works? Manufacturer recommends "mid-mount" but I can't find that, not even on amazon |
Answer: | Any generic store bought kick stand will work. I got the only one available at a Fred Meyer for $14-18 and it works just as it should. My daughter has had this bike now for over a year and it has been an excellent bike. No problems seen, or reported from the rider. |
